^ Damn, that sucks. But maybe I'll get a second crack at that Flintmobile variant.

Supposedly you can tell what boxes Homer will be in if you know the assortment number for him and can find it on the HW box. A "nice" HW collector told me that once.

I, unfortunately, have never had the opportunity to put that knowledge to the test yet.

I'm pretty new to Hot Wheels and just need to know:
There are two cars that I want. The Ecto-1 and the BTTF DeLorean. Are these currently being made? Are they easy to find?

they no longer make those two, but hot wheels seems to re-release some of the more popular ones like the bat-mobile every so often. I did hear that they will be making an ecto for the retro line so you might luck out. even though I personally have never seen any of the battlestar galactica ships or even certain waves due to how hot wheels scalpers/ collectors are out here...

Ecto-1 was in the first wave of the retro line. BTTF was in wave 3. But they'll be back at some point I'm sure. Marty's Toyota truck is coming out next month at retail. Already on ebay.

oh so I missed out on that one as well. I thought I read somewhere that there's one coming out in a newer wave, so it must be ecto-2...

Ecto-1 is the only one I regret not picking up, and my number one pick for a Retro reissue. I didn't even realize it was made until it was too late to get one at retail.

I might just track one down online instead of waiting on Mattel.

It was also at the end of Part 3 (where he is challenged by Needles to a drag race). I can't remember now if it was in Part 2 at all. But at least it's still part of a true retro property instead of something that was barely in theaters when the toy was released.

I'll pick up Marty's truck, but I hope it gets released in the Retro line at some point to match up with that version of the BTTF Time Machine.

But I'd really love to see them do the Time Locomotive from Part 3 in the Retro line.

The General Lee
Mad Max
the jeep from jurassic park
Deathmobile from Animal House

They did that already, along with TJ's van and the helicopter.

But I'd be down with the rest of your Retro list. I'd also throw in:

Roach Coach and Dragula from the Munsters
Boss Hogg's Caddy from Dukes of Hazzard (Daisy's Jeep would be nice, too, but not necessary)
S.S. Minnow from Gilligan's Island (with or without hole)
Blue Thunder
Air Wolf
The Nostromo from Alien
The Sulaco and/or Dropship from Aliens
Discovery One from 2001: A Space Odyssey
Aston-Martin DB5 from the Bond series

And probably dozens more that I can't think of right now.

Are the Homer, Jetsons car and Flintstone mobile still in current assortments?

And does anyone else notice that when you find one hard to find HW, you find a bunch of them? Or maybe the cars I find aren't that hard to find. When I found Ecto-1 I found 2 or 3 on the pegs. Same with the BTTF Time Machine, Batmobiles, and Mystery Machine.

In cases like that, it just means a HW collector hasn't torn the pegs apart for them yet.

Looks like Ecto-2 and another Delorean are slated for the end of the year.

^ Very interesting.

Kinda bummed that they are doing a Bond car but it's the '71 Mustang from DAF, instead of his DB5 (from about a dozen 007 films).

They have three other Bond cars slated for later in the year. Which I'm personally excited about. Hope one of them is Goldfinger's '37 Phantom.

Cool. Fingers crossed that you get your Phantom and I get my DB5. Little Nelly would be awesome too, but I'm not holding my breath.

Does anyone collect the larger scales like 1:18? I'm in love with the Tumbler they released but I'm not sure if the detail justifies the $150 price tag.

I ABSOLUTELY agree that Mattel needs to do the Black Beauty from Green Hornet and the Blues Brothers' Bluesmobile!
Johnny Lightning did a Black Beauty, but it and it's metallic green repaint weren't very impressive.
Greenlight did a Bluesmobile, and the pics I saw all looked good, but I never spotted one in the wild.

A huge thank you to Flipwilson for these two...I can't say enough about how awesome the fellow 'Arkers are here! Long story short the US postal system has a missing Batpod somewhere and won't share with us!

Spider Buggy !!! Guys, I nearly just hyperventilated here in Walmart! I've never been so excited about a HW vehicle! I LOVE this ridiculous vehicle, PLUS it's rare for one to slip by without my knowledge before it hits stores, so this is a shocking, pleasant surprise.
Anyways, apparently there's a new Spider-Man collectors' line at Walmart, and this Spider Buggy is among the assortment! Pics when I get home!

Update:
Here are the pics! I'm nearly at a loss for words, I'm so excited about these:

There were some other cool ones as well, but none impressed me enough to buy. I may go back for the Green Goblin dragster. Also, there was one listed on the back of the card that I didn't see, so if it turns out to be a cool design, I may be grabbing it at some point in the near future.

A couple of people on the "Look What I Just Got" thread seem to have found a Peanuts Hot Wheel vehicle, of Snoopy sitting on top of his wheeled dog house! I love the Peanuts comic strip, so I'm pretty excited about this. I'll certainly be searching for one of these on my figure hunting trip today

Congrats, dude! Welcome to parenthood.

In sightings news, it's been rather dry around here as well. Last new stuff I saw was the Retro Jetsons wave.
