Not quite Multiverse, let's keep Animated series stuff in here.

Batman Animated Series Returns via Target Geek Out Fall 2023 Week 1

Also of note - I've gone back all the way to 2014 and tagged news stories and galleries featuring the 6 inch DC Animated figures. So if you want to research the line's history can do so here: https://www.toyark.com/subline/dc-animated-series

30 bucks for each figure in that BAF wave is too much. Also the Cell Shading looks like crap.

Why the hell does McFarlane hate fist hands? He literally gave Batman and Robin 2 pairs of holding hands. Wtf??

I was just nostalgia watching the Animated Series yesterday. How great we get new figures but still seems off? Those bat legs look too skinny to me and the plastic looks kinda shiny and cheap?

I was big into the DC Collectibles line for about 75% of it's run, fell off at the end. I'm curious about the differences in quality, materials, paint, etc once in hand. I'll pick up a couple just to check it out.

Right now, all these look like they were in development or released during the DCC/DCD era - except for Condiment King, at least not publicly. Not 100%, but think that's the case.

I don't know what's worse about that BTAS Batman the ugly ab joint or the terrible cel shading.

I recently picked up a great collection of the DC Collectibles BTAS figs. It's all the regular release figs except for Two Face but includes the Batcave and the GCPD plus some other misc items. So happy to have the original versions.

Having said that I'm pre-ordering these so I can get Condiment King.

I love this line, but this is Not the re-release strategy I was hoping for. I already have these figures. Can’t justify buying them just to get the BAF.

Unlike most, I generally like cel shading decos, but these look pretty bad. Plus I already have them all. I really hope this isn't the strategy for this line going forward, which I'm sure it is.

Re-releasing figures that everyone who collected the line has, to have the only new one be a BAF. The parts are gonna be hard to get after market. What a scummy move.

Getting into this line post-release is stupidly expensive. I didn't get in on the line when it first dropped because I hated (and still do) the DCC articulation scheme. My feelings on that haven't changed, but neither has my love for BTAS and it doesn't seem we're going to be getting anything better for the foreseeable future, so I want in. I'm the target audience for these re-releases. Not gonna get them.

Scarecrow's shading is actually pretty cool, Mr. Freeze's is acceptable, Robin is bad, and Batman is awful. The prices are insane. The BAF seems designed for completists of the old line which is a certain kind of smart (getting people to buy variants of figures they already have to get the new characters) but does little for "casual fans" just getting in or non-completists (like moi) who don't buy characters they don't like, and centers the line squarely on the narrow subset of toy collectors who like BTAS and already have the DCC releases.

I don't know what they could have done differently to keep the line interesting to everyone, TBH. Better paint apps would be a start for sure, but maybe keep going the multi-pack route they started? Perhaps sensible pairs of desired figures (Batman & Robin, Harley & Joker, Batgirl & Nightwing) with new colorways/accessories, that could include pairings with the new figures. Maybe a dio series that lets people build up art deco rooftops and themed villain hideouts that would let people add-on to their collections in a more substantial way than just a single new figure?

Doesn't McFarlane repackage the BAF separately sometimes? I think I've seen that. Not sure if it was an every wave occurrence or just special occasions.

So far it's only happened twice and both were exclusives when it happened, first was King Shark and second was TDKR Bane (with added jacket).

Too bad that Condiment King is the BAF. I don't collect any McFarlane so maybe aftermarket. I feel like it might go well with the Neca Toon Turtles.

I collected most of the original line so most of these BTAS figures won't be for me. A couple things to point out on Batman:
1. The packaged shot looks like a production figure. The joints, especially the ab joint, look tighter and less gappy. The cel shading on the body suit looks slightly brighter. Slightly.
2. The figure does have a pair of fists. You can see them in the package shot.
3. The figure has a new head. It's a little big for the body though.

Honestly, I would like to see McFarlane re-release the Superman: The Animated Series 2 pack. Or make a line for STAS.

I am super happy, I have been asking for this for years now, ever since McFarlanes bought up DC Collectibles. They have the molds, they could always just decide to do it anytime.
At the time the series came out, I only bought a few, then decided I first gonna sell off my original TAS collection. Then by the time that happened, they cancelled the line and some stuff was impossible to get. I tried bidding on Two-Face and Scarecrow soooo many times only to see them end for 150-200$. Don't get me started on Alfred + Batcave, or Renée Montoya, or the Batwing. It'll be a great feeling to buy professor Crane for 10th of the price he goes on ebay!

Ironically, I just managed to snag the Batcycle for 107$ a month ago. But I don't regret it, since oddly, it seems this new release uses another mold, Batman does not have the helmet. EDIT: OH I just realized, they basically released Batman separately and the cycle only comes with the helmeted head! Guess I do not have to buy the cycle again, then!
I also love that they went out of their way to create new molds too, even though I already have TAS Mr Freeze, Robin and the Batcycle, I would buy them to get Condiment King, I never in a million years expected he would get a figure, thought the Lego one is the best we can expect! I hope they will continue with Two-Face, and also maybe do characters who never got a release, like TNBA Penguin, Lock-Up, TAS Baby Doll, Rupert Throne, TNBA Batwoman (great way to troop-build by making all 3 unmasked heads for her!)

Oh that is sad. Tara Strong was an OK replacement in Batman and Harley Quinn, but Arleen's voice was unmistakable and better. And yeah as I read, Harley was even named after her.

I am hoping they realize what goldmine they are sitting on, and do Superman TAS, Justice League (Unlimited) and Batman Beyond down the line.
I frankly sold all my JL(U) figures years ago, save for a few (Lobo, Tala, Cheetah) getting bored how most of them could never even stand on their own feet, and the constant body and part re-use (looking at you, buff The Shade). At the time, I expected especially after the Superman/Lois set and the JL figures they made for DC+ that they would continue with those.

Given the crazy prices of the BAFs on Ebay, I dunno... The only BAF I could buy cheap there was Titus and that's only because he is such an obscure character and nobody gives a fig about Sam Alexander Nova or his villains. On the other hand, Batman TAS has a huge following.

Given the insane prices of TAS Two-Face, Scarecrow, Batgirl, Ventriloquist, H.A.R.D.A.C. and Grey Ghost on Ebay, I would be happy to pay 30$ for them PLUS get a build-a-figure. I am sure I can easily sell the figures I do not need for 20-25$. Especially in Hungary, where the originals have never been released.

The black is indeed terrible on Batman. I think the ab joint is because this the biker Batman (originally that came with the Batcycle) that is meant to go on the bike and not really for anything else. They probably decided to package him separately, kill 2 birds with 1 stone? Good for me as I can skip the Batcycle I already have this way.
The shading is great actually on Scarecrow... except the brown on the human head. Robin is not bad either.
Mr. Freeze is weird, they changed his color to more purpleish blues, and originally, his gas tank is blue, as in the show. Not sure why they changed it to grey. https://batmantheanimatedseries.fand...Freeze_Gallery I was considering to replace mine due to the joints in his suit (which are made of rubber) starting to get torn on his elbows, but nah, the old colors look better.
Interesting btw that the stands do not come with any of these. I assumed they were part of the mold, guess not.

We have GOT to get a re-release of that Superman at least. One I missed out on the first time around and have regretted for a long time
