Hiyo. As I understand it, toy reviews are okay so long as we don't advertise our own blogs right? Although links to the blog in the signature is okay? Hope I'm getting the rules right. If not, well, I would hope for a stern warning and rules clarification as opposed to an insta-ban or something Anywho, I wanna bring back the written review, so... since Superman's just come out as of this writing, let's start with that. Beginning review in...

What is it?
McFarlane's rendition of James Gunn's Superman *2025) movie, played by David Corenswet. This is the pricier version that you should get over the regular release.

Is it good?
Hmm, it's not bad. In fact, not only is it good, but it's above average by McFarlane's recent standards. I mean, it's not mind blowingly great but yeah, it's good.

Should I buy it?
Yeah, probably. There are a few things to consider, but I'd say, go ahead and get it. And here's why.

Pricing & What you get for it: I pre-ordered this for RM150 (35.25 USD) plus shipping, which as it turned out, was not the best deal I could have had. But it ain't so bad.

Anyway, it's a little pricier than a standard McFarlane, but for the extra few bucks, you get a wired cloth cape as opposed to the plastic cape from the regular release. You also get Krypto, who also comes with a cloth cape. An extra pair of hands and 3 extra faces, although only the heat vision face is notably different. The other extra faces have expressions that are frankly, too subtle to tell the difference as compared to the regular face.

Nonetheless, extra faces are a rarity with McFarlane, the wired cape makes it feel more premium and of course, Krypto's just the goodest lil' terror-doggo.

I think the extra few bucks over the regular release is worth it. The regular release only has the extra hands and his plastic cape is gonna limit his articulation.

Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO): As of this writing, the movie's just been released and impressions have been good from the various reviews out there. Not only that, but it's already raked in well over 200 million bucks. I haven't had a chance to watch it and judge for myself yet, but I saw a little girl running around at a supermarket in the Superman pose the other day, so chances are, it's good and you're gonna want to have a toy representation of this guy.

Fear of Becoming Obsolete (FOBO): Mattel's getting the DC license back next year. Given the early success of the movie so far, they may well make a toy of Corenswet Superman sooner than later. If they actually use a non-obsolete standard body and go with a 6-inch scale line, that guy's going to be compatible with your Hasbro Marvel Legends, Black Series Star Wars, Jada Street Fighter II, Storm Arena Street Fighter Alpha and more.

Despite the FOBO, I'd still advise to get the toy now. As far as McFarlane DC figures go, he's got a reasonably actor-accurate face and there's no guarantee that the Mattel one will be any decent, or even come out anytime soon. Besides, once McFarlane can't produce the toys anymore, it'll instantly become a rare item.

Technical Stuff: On a technical level, this guy is on par with current McFarlane releases and better than the older ones that still have plastic capes. This means he's got the full range of articulation you'd expect from a McFarlane DC figure, like double knees and elbows, as well as a rubbery material for his briefs, which allows him more hip movement while also hiding his joints there.

His wired cape not only lets him strike more poses, but really helps in making him look more dynamic overall.

His sculpt's generally good and the face is pretty decent for a McFarlane attempt at a real person's face. McFarlane's great at comic faces but still aren't at the level of Hasbro's Marvel Legends as far as real people faces go.

What's the catch?
The big problem is his big diaper. His outer-underwear is just a tad too big. You can hide it by positioning it more toward his rear (basically, you gotta give Superman a wedgie) and then having it covered with his cape. The more realistic human proportions also gives him a weird centre of gravity, which affects his balance a bit, but it can easily be adjusted while still allowing him to look natural while standing.

TL;DR
Buy this sucker (unless it's not financially viable for you right now, remember, spend responsibly).

McFarlane Superman & Krypto Deluxe Theatrical Edition is one of those purchases where there's no reason not to get him. There are more positives than negatives to this guy. He won't blow you away but won't disappoint you either.
