For action figures, these look fine. Hopefully these do better than the Mattel & Essentials lines, which I only saw at Ross/TJ Maxx stores.

I'm passing on them due to my personal disgust of the owner of the company which is making them, but otherwise they look decent enough. I don't need a roided up Superman because he's already basically a god. Whether he looks like he can lift 100,000 tons or 200,000,000 tons doesn't matter to me. He's always been a difficult character to represent in toy form.

I like most of everything I'm seeing so far. I think cing out the gate to "earn DC'S trust", Todd's off to a solid start. I think figures will improve as time marches on.

The Batgirl and Nightwing are actually pretty good IMO, but overall this line just gets a "meh" from me.

The move to 7" really killed any curiosity I had. My wife and I have put together a decent collection of DCUC/Multiverse figures, and I was hoping that McFarlane would continue with that scale, at least to fill in some gaps, but... nope. This is definitely shaping up to be a "maybe pick one or two characters up" line, rather than something worth deep-diving.

Aesthetically, the line is all over the place, but as I've seen discussed elsewhere, McFarlane had to get these ready to launch in a rather short period of time for the industry. Especially since, if they'd taken longer to get the first wave ready to go, there would have been too long a time where DC's presence in the market would've been diminished, and that probably would've hurt their retail chances in the long run.

Either way, they're not bad, but there's nothing particularly eye-catching about these as a whole.

Eeeh, I guess you're right. I love ToyArk and all, but my one peeve is the fact that sometimes a single thread will get re-used over the course of months or years for a specific topic, leading to confusion. You're avoiding that, so I guess I should just shut up and be happy.

Yes. But I like not getting warnings from mods, so I won't go into details.

The Batmobile Figures look pretty enticing compared to the rest. I'm especially curious to finally get a figure of the Batman Who Laughs.

Like, these dont look horrendous but i feel they could have just been done better. That superman and batman armor could have been done better. They just look clunky to me.

The thing is, based on there fortnite line, Mcfarlane can actually do better if they truly want. They just need to step there game up.

Maybe, Figuarts/Figma/Revoltech etc has me spoiled but i dont think we are asking too much.

I feel even the DC collectibles Line looks better than them. Which is saying alot because i aint even a big fan of that line and to me they are in a simmilar league.

This is more inline with that "Multiverse" line which i personally dont really like.

Anyways, back to Mcfarlane. In my opinion. The best figures i have seen them ever do are:
Dire
Hybrid

Now when people are saying they are meh, I'm a little confused on that. Is it just the offerings did you expect more from a Superman figure?

The animated series figures using the same massive chest and tiny legs is off putting to me. It's such an extreme size difference in comparison to the show.

I might need to see these in person but think they could have made the torso smaller and the legs bigger.

I also wish the capes for Superman/Batman were detachable because those molded capes are limiting.

My primary concern is going to be torso articulation. I think Mcfarlane Toys has been making statues and then discovered they needed articulation.

Scale wise, I guess I understand. Going from the Power Rangers Legacy scale to the Lightning Collection is visually inconsistent. Matches the essentials scale.

So DC Comics Superman/Batman/Nightwing, I'm interested in.
The Bat who laughs and Green Arrow need to really see a review of. If there's no torso articulation them I'm probably out.
BTAS Batman I'm interested in. Superman not so much. Need to see in person.

The armors maybe on sale.
Green Lantern not at that scale. I'd like a proper comics one for the character.

Batgirl I don't like that comic look in general but I think the body is interesting in that it's now super petite.

Harley Quinn - So I think there is confusion. While they used a comic picture, this is clear the BTAS version of Harley. Why she has this unique frame.

My guess is we should probably expect some Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey figures with the films. Might get a Flash as well.

I think this first wave is really going to decide if I want to invest in this line. I see some good things happening but I see MT repeating the same errors as with MK.

There goes our last chance at getting a decent Arrow figure. It's not just that the torso is too long, it looks like a softer outer shell that goes way beyond the waist. The arms are also huge. Stephen Amell is a buff dude, but he looks slim with the suit on. Weirdly enough, the Mattel figure was the only one to accurately portray his physique. The head is too small and the face looks more like a Barbie doll rendition.

Batgirl and comic Batman also have tiny heads for whatever reason. Guess they used up all the plastic on the animated figures.

Batman Who Laughs is the only figure that has me interested. Between Mafex and Mezco, there are just better options out there for most of these characters.

I'm on the fence about these really, but I'm trying to be optimistic about it. I preordered comic Superman and armored Superman and Batman on BBTS. Those three are the only ones I really wanted out of the initial launch. I kind of wanted Nightwing, but I'm not willing to spend an extra 5 bucks just to get a BAFmobile piece.

So of course honestly I would have liked to have seen Hasbro get this license just so we have quality figures with a wide variety of characters and to be able to display them with Legends (hence why I do customs). After seeing NECA (Batman, Superman and GL) and McFarlane, I really wish NECA would get the license!
I have to say very disappointed out of the gate. No clue why we need the animated style when that is probably DC's most solid and consistent line already. There are some good fodder pieces here depending on how they scale.
I'll probably get Batgirl, Nightwing and Bats Who Laughs, but overall not what I was hoping to see in terms of quality.
Come on DC, NECA has put out some of the best DC to date. Let them branch out some more!

Upon closer review I'll probably just grab Nightwing.

Batman who laughs, Comic Superman, armored Batman, are all really good imo, the animated figures look like hot garbage especially Batman. John Stewart looks better then the DCC one so that’s good I guess

Is Harley Quinn also supposed to be animated? Her body looks comic but head looks stylized

I would not have wanted Hasbro to get this license. Have you seen the toy aisles. Hasbro basically owns them. Getting this would be an absolute monopoly and that is so not good for business. They'd be competing against themselves.

At least this way if Mcfarlane improves their toys it can keep Hasbro on their toes.

Couple of times. In 2017 they had the Essentials 7pc Justice League box set (think the tag said the MSRP was $100+, but they had it for $54). Recently (early 2019) saw Harley, Joker, and Batgirl for $12 ea. I was looking for Titan class Transformers, so I passed at the time because I didn't have any interest in DC stuff. Now I'm kicking myself. lol

If they put out better, more and wider variety who cares if it's a monopoly. Power Rangers is already a good example of how a line can benefit from them.

I've been down toy aisles. There's tons of competition. Courts don't look at one company making all super heroes as a monopoly, because boys have other options for action figures: TMNT from Playmates, WWE from Mattel, Fortnite from Jaz and McFarlane, Dragonball from Banpresto, etc. Just like Disney can buy all the major film and TV properties and no one blinks an eye, because Paramount can occasionally release a Startrek or TMNT movie, and Warner bros releases a few movies every year.

I'll give you the figures look good, but I haven't seen Zords from Hasbro yet. Bandai really knocked the premium figures out of the park, complete with diecast.

Wow. That John Stewart is definitely interesting. I'd love to see how a Static from McFarlane would look.

This line reminds me of Total Heroes mixed with Multiverse, which is interesting at the very least.

I agree that there are too many Batman and Superman figures. They should have been spreadout over Waves 1,2,3. Not a fan of the 7" scale as I would have liked to had the new figures scale with my current DC product. I would have gone Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, GL, GA, Flash and Hawkman. Maybe a Joker and a Lex Luthor. The Animated figures could have been a Wave by themshelves. Not crazy about the mid-torso articulation. I pre-ordered a couple figures to see how they are.

I can't wait until they give us a proper comic Flash in 2030 and maybe one Rogue by 2040.

For the look of the figures themselves, the ankle and wrist joints look really weird to me. Maybe they'll look better in person, but right now they seem excessively round.
Flash is in the next wave. Apparently they had to put Batman and Superman in the first wave, but what a silly thing to complain about after one wave in a new line. Every DC line has Batman in the first 1-2 waves. Why wouldn’t you? He is the most popular character and sells. This is a brand new line trying to get established, best way to do that is offer the popular characters and sell through. Even then, we got three first time figures in Hellbat, Batman Who Laughs, and Unchained.

This screams over exaggerated opinion. Not at all. Hellbat, Unchained, Batgirl, and BWL look great. They aren’t “all awful.”

I don’t understand this. People aren’t going to stop buying Marvel toys because of a new DC line. And Hasbro doesn’t care what other companies do. They could be the greatest figures in the world and it won’t stop people from buying Legends. If anything, it would be better if Hasbro had the line. We get more figures, in scale, with a bunch of parts already at their disposal, at a far quicker rate with far more variety.

This would have never happened, as this simply would be a huge conflict of interest to Disney, unless Disney decides to go forth and buy Time Warner/Warner Bros.

Say if Hasbro did pick up the DC license, and for some reason/stroke of luck...it began to outsell and eventually bury the Legends line. Disney would pull their license in two shakes of a dog's tail, and would have Hasbro in a messy court battle even faster.

That's not to say that DC couldn't fall into Hasbro's control, but it's not likely as long as Disney's two biggest brands (Star Wars and Marvel) are there in the same action figure market. Though there has been rumors and rumblings about Disney possible taking Marvel back from Hasbro in order to start their own toyline once Hasbro's contract runs out this year, but with as well as Hasbro is handling the line, it would seem like a foolhardy move.

Competitive balance is important...no matter what the industry. It promotes new ideas and change, as well as fuel the desire for better effort, because you can't just sit back and rest on your laurels. Take a break or get lazy, and you're likely to be passed at some point by the guy who simply outworks you and is willing to bet on themselves. Either that, or you'll eventually piss off the consumer who comes to the realization that you are phoning it in, and they end up taking their disposable income elsewhere. One need look no further than the professional wrestling industry, where WWE was free to do whatever it wished for years, turning it into the near unwatchable at times ****show it is now, because there was no competition to fuel their passion to put out the best product...every single time they went on the air.
