I would guess a lot of that depends on how well the first few sell. I pre-ordered these 2 from Walmart already, and if they solicit the basic Ultramarine I'll pre-order him too.

I'd love to see Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard, Commisars, Psykers, Eldar (and Dark Eldar!) Chaos Daemons and Traitor Legion Marines and Orks with plenty of Dakka.

If the support is there (and I think it may be, there's a lot of 40k fans, and the designs are cool enough to draw in non-tabletop players) then I could see there being a lot of possibilities

would be great if Mcfarlane has a broad license and we have potential Eisenhorn figures on the horizon... i know- I know- let's actually get the show out before we start planning the toys... lol

I think one problem would be that the average GW fan would be too busy investing on the tabletop figures which are on an entirely different scale and pretty expensive to boot. So there is a good chance they will not be interested in an entire line up. They might go for one or two iconic figures like the Space Marine, but that might be as much as their investment goes for non-tabletop version of the armies.

If you have a Warhammer miniature collection, the price point of these figs is a drop in the bucket.

Exactly. A box of 5 minis (Blood Angels Terminator Assault Squad for instance) is more expensive than the two of these figures combined. Hell, there are single, standard sized miniatures that are $25.

Question from someone who isn't well versed in 40K: why are the minis so damn expensive? Don't they come unpainted? And they're just plastic right?

Precisely why they might not be interested in this though. It is a different market. So there is a risk that this won't sell as much.

On the other hand, I suspect that many non-GW collectors will pick it up because the design does look cool and it is cheap.

Yea, they come unpainted, and unassembled when it comes to bigger ones like the vehicles and Titan scale units.

I think the pricing was completely market driven. It started out as a niche hobby for adult collectors (because of the need to assemble + paint and so forth), and GW had too much free reign with the pricing. Since the collectors were usually adults, they had the ability to just boost prices.

You see the same thing happening in the collectible market for adults in general today. The pricing for figures in that market segment is going out of control. One can only hope that people become a bit cautious and refrain from buying them, and the prices will stabilize as a result.

I'm not into the 40K miniatures, but I've always loved the look of the characters. My only real exposure to the Warhammer was a PS3 game that was free with PS+ years ago. But I'm definitely interested in a few of these.

Amen to that. I mean i found the neca kenner tribute drake at a target and damned if that sumbitch wasn’t 26.99. Seriously....for a BASIC figure? Neca is on crack with their prices.

$26.99 is higher than MSRP though. Online stores had Drake as low as $22.

I got mine from dorkside and was 21.99. The power arm terminator was 19.99. At target that terminator was 22.99. Looks like target is gouging.

So far these have only appeared on Walmarts website. Surely they're not Walmart exclusives ... hoping to pre-order at BBTS.

I can see this line going far and wide. Hopefully they scale the line correctly and do some of the larger units as well.

On their Facebook page they have a graphic saying pre-orders are coming to Amazon and GameStop as well. So these should be regular releases.

Games Workshop hasn't outsourced their production to Asia either, they have factories in the UK and US (possibly elsewhere now too I'm not sure).

I've painted miniatures from many different companies, and I can say that Games Workshop really does make some of the best quality minis out there. There's a great level of detail, they fit together well, they often have lots of options for weaponry and details. Compared to something like Privateer Press' Warmachine/Hordes, the individual pieces require less seamline/mold mess clean up and you never have to "heat and straighten" weapons/gear.

Also if you paint well, you can take a $60 box of figures and turn around and sell them for $150-$170. I've found a lot of minis have much higher resale value than traditional action figures (again, provided that you paint well).

If she came with a non-helnet head I would have grabbed 3... Might try popping a Select Gamora head on her and repainting...

Yeah, looks cool but, I'd prefer a helmetless version.

That battle sister does look pretty dope. I haven't gotten my first two yet though, so I'll probably hold off ob pre-ordering until I can judge the quality of the first two releases.

Would love to see some helmetless option for the sister in the future but if the line scales properly, I'll be hard pressed to not jump in hard. GW paints are gonna be expensive for the grey versions but I'll want a whole group painted up.
