Heck yeah, man. That slime was so cool. Didn't they sell refills so you could have more? Man, it's too bad they wouldn't put anything like that in toys today.

Both were kings of the playsets. This was a tough choice.
I had to go with TMNT for the way the figures were constructed and looked, but god MOTU really had some epic playsets though TMNT had the better vehicles imho(especially if you count the technodrome). |

I've cast my vote and it goes to TMNT. No matter what I will forever love that franchise.

After much internal deliberation, I had to go with MOTU. I loved me some TMNT, but MOTU really solidified my love for action figures and I spent countless hours playing with the toys. The original Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain are still to this day two of my favorite playlets of all time. The turtles toys were just as epic, but I think they owed a lot to MOTU in regards to size and the way they were designed.
Damn, this is a close call. I'm very interested to see which comes out on top. Can't say I'd be mad either way. |

I was a bit more into TMNT. It came out when I was 7 or 8 so I have more vivid memories of them. I was 3-4ish with MOTU but I did love it! Its close but I'm going Turtles.

Wow, all tied up (as of this post) with less than 4 days left to go. I'm curious what would happen to the brackets if there's a tie.

After much thought I chose TMNT. I had both as a kid but the turtles and their van were so much fun.

That's how brackets work. Top seeds face the lower seeds. To have 2 clear cut favorites facing off in the first round is asinine & makes the rest of the bracket pointless. The point of seeding lines (teams) serves a purpose, which is why every major sport uses a bracket style tournament to determine a champion. If you eek your way into the playoffs, why do you deserve an easier route to the championship? At the same time, when your team has been head & shoulders above 98% percent of the competition, why should their road to the championship be harder? This is such a close battle, it should have been for the title of the best line. Whichever line wins this round, will crush every other line they go up against. Making the rest of the tournament boring.

It's nothing more than a series of polls to determine who you all vote to come out on top of this particular bracket. I hand picked who faces off because those are the match ups I felt like pairing and would yield some excitement in the early polls along with a bit of uncertainty. Personally I didn't feel like spending the first 12 weeks being able to write up the weekly winners without even having to check the voting. This was really meant to be a fairly meaningless set of polls to have some fun and win someone $50 to BBTS.

Wow such a hard pick, I go with He-Man now. Because as a adult I am collecting them again. But as a child I was terribly into He-Man. I was 6 when they came out in 1988. So it was perfect time for me to go ape shit crazy for a blossoming toy line.

Obviously this isn't sports. But the bracket system comes from competition, which is a part of all sports. To determine a clear cut winner. There's no season to determine seeding? I'd say there's 25-30 years to form an opinion on where each of these lines rank prior to the bracket.
OV is right, not worth my time to go into any more detail. I'll close with saying my only problem with TMNT line is half way thru they just started dressing up the turtles in different lame outfits. If you take the main 20 figs from each line. It's definitely a closer race. I'd still give the edge to MOTU. |

I'm a bit confused and I think you may be as well. TMNT came out in 88, MOTU figs started in 82.

The difference being that this isn't sports. There is no "seeding" in play here. There was no season to determine placement on the grid, there's no trophy being sent to the company whose toy line comes out on top and no off season where these picks have to try and regroup and hope to make it next year.

This was really meant to be a fairly meaningless set of polls to have some fun and win someone $50 to BBTS. It's more fun, and more fair to see the first round dedicated largely to toys that share simular niches. In this case TMNT vs MotU makes perfect since. They shared virtually identical niches. Same with Super Powers vs Secret Wars. There were some oddball matches (Battle Beasts vs Madballs, where Battle Beasts vs MUSCLE may have made more sense). But all in all, everything has been laid out great, and makes absolute sense. Treating it so seriously like those idiotic sports games is what's asinine. Please get over your passive aggressive BS. You've made several pot shots at me in this thread, and I am asking you nicely to please stop. Back off.

You're right! They should have thrown He-Man in 15 dif outfits each more ridiculous than the next just to rape our wallets... Then maybe, just maybe, MOTU would be just as cool as TMNT in your elitist eyes. /discussion |

I voted TMNT and I certainly want them to win, but if MOTU edges out it isn't going to affect my life at all. I hope it doesn't to anyone else, either.

Trust me, I couldn't care less about this poll & I am pretty chill "dawg". You see the "lmao" in my comment? How can one be upset yet laughing? I don't know why you felt the need to jump to his defense, but apparently you need to read more of his posts. From my first day here his posts stuck out to me as being pompous and condescending. But hey, that's just MY opinion...
I've said all I needed to. MOTU all the way!! |
