Hey Arkers,
First of all I'm going to ask if there's a thread already asking this question, is there is, just send me there, then a mod can just delete this thread or something and all that fun stuff. ANYWAYS, it's pretty obvious what my question is. Has anyone seen the MU Darkhawk Paint Variant? If so, what is it like? I'm hoping (I'm sure a lot of people are) that the variant is a Talon paint scheme. But part of me thinks it's going to be like Red Hulk, a very subtle difference you won't notice unless you pay extreme close attention to... Yup, EXTREME close attention. P.S Title should say "Paint Variant", not "Pain Variant"... I guess we'll see if the Variant is painful or not. |

I didn't realise there was a Darkhawk variant, nor did I realise he had a "classic" costume.
Darkhawk seems to be the "hot" figure from the wave. He is an obscure character IMO, but I can see his potential as he was one of the figs my 8 year old gravitated toward when they arrived in the mail from BBTS.

Darkhawk was just really well sculpted. He's always reminded me of the SIlverhawks.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm pretty easy to please. I don't see how these 2 costumes are any different from what we got?

Yeah they're not horribly different. Just a slight tweak to the helmet and more serrated edges for the wings compared to the original one. Paint apps are probably different too.

I only know this guy from the New Warriors from the 1990s and I wasn't even a big fan of their comics. I just happened to have the Marvel card of their team and I thought Speedball was the lamest looking hero ever invented (and my opinion hasn't changed). Only saw them in a few issues starring OTHER heroes that I actually liked. One that stands out is a Spider-man Annual that involved Spidey and the New Warriors taking on Justin Hammer's paid hit squad of D-lister villains. Good ol' Marvel writing. The figure looks pretty good though. So I guess it's just going to be a head sculpt thing?

Nah, his whole armor was smoothed out and made to look much more techno-organic, before it was like he was wearing robot armor over spandex, instead of a full suit.

Yeah, the variant isn't a repaint, it's a remold.
He'll be getting a new classic inspired head, and maybe more squared off shoulders. Hopefully they'll be painting the wings too. For certain all we know is the variant will have the classic armor squared off helmet. It won't show up until the revision waves, assuming they don't just make it a new figure altogether with its own number. Last edited by Snowflakian; 10-02-2011 at 03:15 PM.. |

since this is now the official "Darkhawk thread" has anyone noticed sloppy paint apps on the face area?I noticed some silver overspray on the red area of the visor and on both my darkhawks there were some minor but pressent spots where there was no paint, only the size of a needle head or maybe a bit bigger but hey,any muffed paint is worth noting right?I just touched them up with a silver sharpie but the visor area is impossible.

Okay, here's a good picture to use for what I'm about to say.
![]() Here we have Talon (left) and Darkhawk (right). I'm pretty sure that image of Darkhawk is the last of his original look. As you can tell Talon and Darkhawk have different helmet designs. And the Darkhawk figure we're aware of has the helmet that looks like Talon's (which I believe is the modern helmet). So if we're getting a variant Darkhawk that's a classic version of himself, it would most likely be this one right here... I still think a paint variant of Darkhawk to look like Talon would be the coolest thing. Ever. |

I don't see the difference between the two.
Maybe my paper-bag needs bigger eye holes?

Yeah I'm looking at pics of the figure itself (because I don't have it myself yet) and I'm starting to think you're right. I was looking at a modern pic of Darkhawk and the one I just posted and assumed the figure had the same helmet as the modern picture. So PERHAPS the variant will look like the one in your signature?

I'm still waiting on a reply to the original question posed in this thread.

I'm pretty sure it's a no. No one has seen it yet. BUUUUUT, like I said, it could be like the Red Hulk and could only be a slight paint variation.

I'm just going to post this for lack of pictures of the actual photo, we need something for reference
![]() On closer inspection, this actually IS the classic darkhawk, so does that mean we'll be getting his war of kings outfit next? |
