Great looking figures but bonkers character choices.

Why is the bundle price $255 when 8 x 28.99 = $231.92?

Is it just me or do the heads look extra huge? Like the heads are 1/10 scale but the bodies look 1/12.

I'm hoping with how out there the character selection is we get garrick and Bashir quicker. Really any DS9 stuff would be amazing

It's funny how you have 8 characters and none of them interacted with each other. And Valkris never will have anyone to unless they make a viewscreen Kruge or the freighter crew.

This wave screams Weyun and Sulu selling and the rest pegwarming.

I get they want to do something new, but you should ALWAYS start off with Kirk. It's like starting a Star Wars line and leading off with Admiral Ozzel instead of Vader.

I agree. Exo-6 is making the same weird mistake, doing figures for a bunch of characters that nobody gives a damn about. I wonder if there are some weird licensing reasons, e.g., "You can do a figure of 'x' only if you also do a figure for 'y' and 'z.'"

EXO-6's biggest mistake is their inability to make accurate and compelling likenesses. Every single figure so far has a TERRIBLE face.

No Star Trek line has been hugely successful let alone a minor success for a decade or longer. That's why they always collapse.

Like most modern toylines they collapse due to the overwhelming flood of negativity from a small number of so called fan communities, even if the product is well designed and produced.
Trek figures have a massive potential, just like Star wars figures, but its constantly dragged down by people being negative and whining about "things aren't what I want" or "not how i remember" rather than just enjoying the products that are being made.
If nothing was being made then the same people would still moan about that too.
Enjoy the figures that are there, support the creators, share what you love about things. Rather than saying something is rubbish, not what I want or that theres something thats not good, then share the issues and what you think would improve things. Believe me, even critisim can be good its its followed by sensible and clear ways to make things better

Blaming fussy collectors could be construed as lazy and irresponsible, like blame projection and rationalization. If there is a market for some product or service, and it's done well, that market will respond. If there is a strong market, it will respond with alacrity and determination and lots of money.

That said, speaking only for myself, Caitlin describes me to a 'T.' I'm discriminating. I have a list in my mind of exactly which characters or ships or other things from which franchises I would be willing to buy, in which format, and to what standard of quality, and for roughly how much money. I have to be this way, because my funds are not infinite, and I experience strong buyer's regret every time a piece in my collection doesn't satisfy me and ends up on EBay or donated to the Goodwill. I want to buy 'keepers.' My days of frivolous and stupid collecting and purging are over.

Side note: I regard Black Series as exhausted. You know the product is in the latest stage of its life cycle when they start releasing characters who were never anything more than background extras, or they invent new names for figures that boil down to repaints, or just re-re-re-releases. There's a sense of desperation -- and yet, they wouldn't approve the production decisions unless SOMEbody was still buying, would they? How many Black Series collectors are completists?

...I want that Kirk figure.

I just noticed that the Kirk figure appears to come with a horse for an accessory. Pass on that.

Thanks, yeah. I might snag a couple others from this wave. Nerd nostalgia: Kate Mulgrew as Janeway in the Voyager episode "Year of Hell" looked damn hot -- and with respect, I think it was one of her best episodes.

Here's some more negativity: I didn't think the second wave could be more disappointing than the first but here we are. Did I miss the part where Star Trek became so popular the figures warranted Star Wars-level deep cuts?

I never said the figures were "rubbish", I said it was a stupid lineup for your first wave of action figures.

Jellico is not a Wave One figure. Tuvix is not a Wave One figure. Valkris is not a Wave One figure. Peter Preston is not even a Wave 20 figure and I would argue should be a glorified accessory for a Deluxe Scotty. Especially if Kirk gets a horse.

If you don't think starting off your Star Trek line with classic versions of Kirk, Picard, Spock, etc. over background and scene-specific characters is "sensible" and "clear" criticism then you're not very bright.

I hope this is the exception, however I don't know how you get people excited with these figure choices.

I've heard worse. One time someone had a meltdown over eyebrows on a toy for a property he claims hasn't made a good movie since 1981, then threw a b**** fit when it turned out he was dead wrong about the facts about the edits of said property. Look it up sometime, it was semi-entertaining.

Yeah... too many deep cuts, too quickly. Generations Kirk looks really nice, that Janeway is a solid choice, as is T'Pol, and the Romulan Commander is a great one, but are there more than a few hundred people in the world who are going to buy a $30.00 Carol Marcus action figure? The Worf and Geordi are fun choices, but if they want to do non-uniformed figures of them, they could have gone with some more "fan favorite" looks, like their Victorian-era Holodeck outfits (I would be all in for figures based on the Sherlock Holmes Holodeck episodes, including Moriarty). Nog is cool, but he would sell MUCH better if people had Quark and Rom in their collections first. Deep cuts are fun, but they should be 20% of the line, not 80%, and a few of these figures are just too niche to be made. Hopefully I'm wrong, because the figures they've shown so far look great, but I'll pass on a majority of the first 2 waves at full retail.

I'm loving the deep cuts. This is a great way to let veteran collectors know exactly how far a manufacturer is willing to take the line. I'm SO tired of starting over with the usual, safe choices. Give me something that's never been on a peg before.

For newbies, the main characters are still there. Kirk even comes with a horse. A HORSE.

My only issue with the line is the scale. If these were 1:18 scale, I'd be buying them all. Until then, Hiya Toys is getting my Trek bucks.

Too many deep cuts? Four of ten are "deep cuts" here. Would you prefer bog standard bridge crew waves for each show?

My "can't live without it" level just ain't there. I might someday pick up one or two of them? I guess? I hope Nacelle does well with these, but unfortunately they still get no money from me. Maybe wave 3....

Been waiting for a classic (non episode-specific) 1/12 Janeway for years and years. I guess I can wait a bit longer. I MAY pick this one up just because it's the only 1/12 offering available but Nacelle needs to get a few more standard looks out before they continue with all the wild swings. I get doing episode specific looks but this is what killed the Super7 Ultimates Simpsons line. People want their classic looks out the gate and then we can get into off the beaten path specific looks.
