Nacelle Star Trek Toys Discussion
1 Attachment(s)
Another day, another licensee. It will be interesting to see what Nacelle comes up with. As long as they don't repeat what diamond select, Playmates, and Hiya have done, there might be a chance. Especially if there is no abrams/kurtzman garbage, which was thankfully not mentioned in the press release.

Indeed. It would be so awesome to have offerings from TOS through to Voyager, and not the usual suspects from diamond select, Playmates, and McFarlane. Save those for after the line becomes a success. So many people have the same characters from so many failures.
|
Meh. I'd like good Trek 3 3/4" line that isn't 5 POA or some Japanese high end thing. Never happen.
I'm surprised anyone pursues the Trek license after so many companies tried and failed. Trek action figures peaked with 90's Playmates. And that was in terms of breadth at least. (The early figures kinda sucked.) Playmobil's Trek license ended, too. They could've done a bit more with it. Some extra TOS figures at least. |

This is disappointing. Nacelle Company likes to refer to 7 inch scale as 1/12th. These will work with McFarlane's DC Multiverse, NECA, Biker Mice from Mars, and Expanse, but tower over Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, Power Rangers, Marvel, DC Universe Classics, Indiana Jones, Action Force, Street Fighter, Jurassic Park, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sailor Moon, Karate Kid, and many more.
I just wish the fandom weren't split between 1/12 and 1/10th scale. |
I think CBS/Paramount are desperate. In that desperation, licensees may find it easier to get along with them. If a toy company can recognize this and actually pursue action figures and toys that people want, they may be successful. I really hope they take heed to the input from fans and collectors this time.
By the way, does anyone have a direct link to the site (if it exists) where we can offer our input to Nacelle? |
Here's Nacelle's email for Star Trek figure ideas. Let 'em have it!

And another thread coughs and dies, lol.

From TrekMovie:
"Nacelle’s figures are 1/12 scale (about 6 to 7 inches) and “highly articulated,” similar to Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series. They are being designed to be affordable, with hopes to be available for under $30 each. The first wave will be available for pre-sale in the first quarter of 2025, with hopes the first figures will arrive mid-year." At a New York Comic Con panel on Saturday, Nacelle showed off their plans for the first wave, which includes eight figures: Captain Jellico from Star Trek: The Next Generation “Chain of Command” Peter Preston from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Valkris from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock Captain Garrett from Star Trek: The Next Generation “Yesterday’s Enterprise” Tuvix from Star Trek: Voyager “Tuvix” Mirror Archer from Star Trek: Enterprise “In A Mirror, Darkly” Weyoun from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Captain Sulu from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/62/70/d2/MEWPKTN_t.jpg https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/fa/9d/55/MEWPKTO_t.jpg https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/1c/00/81/MEWPKTP_t.jpg https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/43/50/af/MEWPKTQ_t.jpg https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/bc/06/cf/MEWPKTR_t.jpg https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/8d/9a/17/MEWPKTS_t.jpg |
Bump for pictures update!

Hey there everyone, so glad I came across this thread...I had to sign up immediately!
Honestly it's great to see so much chatter about Star Trek figures, I haven't been this excited about Trek toys since the 90s Playmates days. I think there's so much potential from both Nacelle and Hiya Toys. You could probably write a book analysing all the reasons that the recent Playmates 'second coming' failed at the starting gate, I would have continued supporting those (despite their flaws) in the hopes of a new line of Trek figures enduring. I'd totally given up hope but with Hiya now announcing Strange New Worlds figures and Nacelle adjusting course I'm, well, again just excited. I'd thrown in my two cents by e-mailing my suggestions/feedback to Nacelle and honestly one of the smartest things Brian V-W has done is open that line of communication with the fans and continuously listen to feedback. I've felt more and more optimistic as BVW seemed to signify a shift in approach in recent interviews and there's certainly ways to do things that might make at least most happy (heck I want Kirk in his 'bomber jacket' uniform from Star Trek V and the OG crew in their Search for Spock/Voyage Home outfits). So, can't wait to see what they reveal next year. Going back to Hiya, I'm eager to get my hands on the fist wave of the Trek 2009 figures (the minis and supers) and the announcement of them tackling Strange New Worlds has me stoked (could Picard Season 3 figures follow I wonder?). The only issue with Hiya is the rate at which stuff is produced and the delays, the first wave of the 2009 is what, 3 figures and they were meant to launch in the spring? It's now almost December and seems retailers here in the U.K. won't be getting them until January 2025. It's clearly going to take them pretty much most of 2025 to finish out the 2009 line (and still no sign of Uhura? Come on!). SNW Pike is slated to release next December which is a loooong ways off. I didn't think Hiya would get beyond the 2009 line to be honest, it's not exactly the most popular iteration of Trek and with Nacelle getting the license to the legacy show/movies I'm wondering if fans will boycott the Hiya stuff in the hopes that Nacelle might end up expanding their license to New Trek. Anyway, exciting times - just wish I hadn't spent a small fortune recently to fill in gaps of my 90s Playmates collection, I only really did that because it seemed Nacelle wouldn't be giving us certain characters and characters in main outfits/uniforms...ah well. LLAP |
Once Hiya realizes their grievous error by trying to release abrams/kurtzman crap, Nacelle will likely be the only Trek game in town. That's a good thing, but worrysome at the same time. I personally don't want any of Nacelle's first wave, but that's okay. Hopefully they will be able to dig their heels in for a little while and produce more figures. I just hope they don't screw up like everyone else has, and I also hope they announce figures that more of us want.

Did Nacelle cancel their Star Trek line already?

A - going from eight figures per wave to ten, and… B-after Wave 2, every other wave will be a bridge crew member wave. So Wave 3 will be all bridge crew, and Wave 4 will be deep cut figures like Peter Preston, and so on… |

of Trek Dudes and "Dudettes"!!!... Me Very Interested... 1/12 Too ;^) |
This is Super7 levels of ridiculous. I get it, you can't put Spock, Picard, Kirk, and Data all in the same wave but most of these cuts are way too deep for your first wave. They didn't even give you Uncle Scotty so he can carry Preston's dead ass.
Unless I'm missing something and these are supposed to be compatible with a different line. |
Considering how every recent attempt by figure companies to make Star Trek figures has crashed and burned (McFarlane, Playmates) using popular characters, it's insane that the first wave of offerings that Nacelle is putting out is comprised of b and c-tier ones (well, except for Jeffrey Combs. He rules).
I know they have said that they're planning to include some heavy-hitters in wave 3, but if the first two waves pegwarm like mad there's no way they'll ever get there. I guess that's why they included things like the Genesis Device with Valkris to make her more desirable, but no one is ever going to buy fucking Tuvix, let's be real. |
Alright if Nacelle can't make it work can everyone shut about Star Trek figures? I love Star Trek but I only collect the 90's Playmates because not enough people buy the new figures for the lines to continue. I remain skeptical that there is enough demand these days but we will see what Nacelle can do.

Providing us with the figures that dst showed us and cancelled (with their own new molds) would be very smart for Nacelle. The Generations Kirk prototype looks really good, but I personally don't want to buy it. Seven of Nine as a Drone and her first silver suit as well as the Borg Queen would definitely get my attention.

I like the Sulu figure. One of the best parts of that movie. But it doesn't look like BBTS etc has the preorder.
