Hamato Yoshi is the human form of Splinter? I've always learned that Splinter's pre-mutation form is a rat, and he learned Ninjitsu from Hamato Yoshi, before Hamato Yoshi got killed. When did that changed?

They've shown that off before in various other photos, but I imagine something like that is coming. Maybe after the van is delivered.

It really depends on the medium. In the cartoon and Archie comics, Yoshi mutated into Splinter.

In the original Mirage Comics and Movie, Yoshi owned Splinter as a pet.

In the new IDW run, Splinter is the reincarnation of the Feudal era Yoshi.

I'm really hoping they reveal a new April to replace the old one - it was just a total misfire and the prototype looked much better.

As for this set, I don't see myself getting it, but I do like the accessories.

Every time they announce anything cartoon that isn't the Ultimate April they said was coming "soon" in December 2021, it gets me very irritated. I really hope she is, in fact, coming soon at this point and that it's a preorder item direct from NECA (and no limit of 2 please).

As for this set, I never thought I'd be totally uninterested in a human Baxter, but after seeing this, I am totally uninterested.

In the 2012 CGI TMNT series Splinter was also Hamato Yoshi. He even had a human daughter from pre-ratification.

Yoshi is never a full-on rat in the old cartoon. In the 1987 show, he is a human in the sewers who takes care of four baby turtles. They are then all mutated by the pink (later green) mutagen, and he becomes a rat/man hybrid.

I can't speak for the "every other iteration" bit, I only followed the original TMNT, but in the '90 film, he is indeed the pet rat- remember the scene in which Splinter tells Danny his origin story? In fact, here it is:

IIRC, this was also the case in the Mirage comics.

But yes, in the original 'toon and toyline, he was indeed Yoshi himself.

Sorry, I clarified my post. I meant that Yoshi is never turned into a rat in the 1987 show. He is a man/rat hybrid.

I know in many other iterations Yoshi and Splinter are separate characters, with Splinter being a rodent first and then a rodentman.
