Quite possibly. Or at least not until NECA got the final sales numbers in for Nada to see if they should continue the line. If nothing else, I'm guessing we're seeing this way sooner than we would have had it just been all NECA.

Nada is sold out on BBTS if that's any indication.

I'm one of the 4,000. Better to pay $47 now than $97 on eBay later. Steep price, but worth it.

I went ahead and ordered two. Shipping was only $4 for me. Figure I can sell the other one down the road for a nice profit and help defray the steep cost for this figure. I never thought I needed a Keith David action figure, but I do love this movie as well as The Thing. Maybe we'll get a McCready figure since they've already used Kurt Russell's likeness for Escape from NY??

I've always heard The Thing is really hard to license, but not sure why. Carpenter's stuff has gotten figures from a couple movies and from Russell too already.

From what I understand, the rights to The Thing reverted back to the estate of the writer, and they aren’t licensing for new merchandise. Similar to Elm St. Part 1 and the ongoing lawsuit with Friday the 13th Part 1. Universal can license the movie out for re-release, but that’s about it.

It’s one of the reasons they’re doing a new movie based on the extended novella, now known as Frozen Hell.

I'm sure it's a smart business decision and they will sell enough to warrant putting out the product. Most of these "brainlets" making these decisions are far more advanced in making these business decisions than we are as fans.

I'm really surprised people want this now. Sure he has some pop culture appeal but this figure doesn't even look that good. The clothes aren't even fitted properly. He's had some decent roles and some memorable performances but he's nowhere near a type of legendary actor. I guess nostalgia always gets people to buy.

I hear what you're saying, but They Live is a true cult classic. I never get tired of watching it and it's scary how much relevance it still has. For me, Frank is a must-have. And this may very well be the only way I'm ever gonna get a figure of him. $50 is worth it.

They Live is definitely more relevent than some of the horror picks that NECA has done in the past, including some Shout Factory stuff.

Keep in mind, the Shout Factory items are picked by Shout Factory and not NECA. There's likely some conversation between the two about what can and can't be done. But the figures are bought and paid for by Shout, so the burden is on them as opposed to NECA needing to sell a certain amount.

Well Frank by himself is sold out now. The bundles with the bluray, and the bluray/poster/vinyl together are still available for $75 and $95 respectively.

I just hope they reserve some extras for the inevitable damaged shipments*...

We can dream, right? (Although actually, I was thinking it'd be fun for Super7 to move further into Wrestling Ultimates with Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, ect. Just a little customizing, and maybe we'd be close!)
