Best news I've heard today. Let's hope it doesn't go the way of Chief Brody.

I gotta say, I keep looking at this one promo image and I still can't believe it's real! I'm just appreciating all the details

I'm shocked as well. I hope Mac comes with a flamethrower (which isn't pictured currently), and also hope they do Childs and and a couple of the creatures. They need to milk this license while they have it. I'm also really happy this isn't another stupid 8" MEGO style figure from them like they did with Snake Plissken. I still want a regular 7" Ultimate Snake to replace the terrible MacFarlane version from 20 years ago.

I couldn't believe this was real when I first saw it. I'm still shocked, this is most exciting reveal for me so far, aside from Ash from the original Evil Dead.

It's about time they tackle The Thing, plus I'm really happy that this is a real sculpted 7" figure and not a retro cloth.

Likeness looks solid to me, obviously the factory paint might vary. Hopefully the QC will be good.

The accessories and alternate heads are perfect. The hat having real straps is such a great touch.

Now I'm guessing this is only the beginning. Based on this reveal, he's missing the flamethrower, dynamite, flares, Gary's revolver and pistol belt. Plus there are heads shown that are not in the package shots.

I'm guessing that there will be a second or even a third version of Mac down the road. I'm ok with this as long as nothing gets cancelled.

The next question is how will they release the thing itself? I'm going to guess creature packs of some sort.

For the creatures, I'd want some them to be tied to an Ultimate Figure. For example, Palmer with swap out parts to be the Palmer thing, Norris with a swap out open cavity chest, the Spider Head, and the Norris Thing as an accessory. Blair Thing and the Dog Thing would probably be standalone releases if they do that.

I just hope they don't do like 2-3 versions of Mac and then stop. It's the reason I don't buy stuff from Mezco anymore. Do one release, or multiple of the same character, and then ignore everything else from the license.

Don't get me wrong, I would love every member of outpost 31, especially considering they made every member of the Nostromo.... But if we only every got Macready and a thing or two, I'd still consider it a win haha

That sir, is just a beautiful pic.

I wonder if neca realizes how happy they’ve made collectors?

I think these sculpts are double in size over production size, so shrinking and then factory paint etc can reduce the quality. I'm still buying them but I really do not like the Back to the Future Marty sculpts. I kind of hope these will be fine, or if nothing else maybe the facial hair will mask any sculpt issues.

To be frank few of NECA's sculpts are home runs in production to me, Doc Brown is an outlier. But regardless I'll still be grabbing whatever they make for this license!

I agree with most of your wants but it's freaking me out talking about them. As though we're jinxing things by asking for more than this figure which already seemed impossible. Don't push too hard, your dreams are china in your hand.

I’m really happy for you Joe, It’s nice to hear I’m not the only one affected by toys to the point of tears. One:12 Nosferatu was like that for me. I spent 2 hours slowly opening it piece by piece.

How great would it be if we could get the KURT RUSSEL to give us a shout out with the figure!!??

One of those probably wont see a decent figure made, being actually made! Great movie and a fan of Kurt Russell, particularly those characters of his back then. Yeah the face sculpts arent perfect but I think its generally good enough, as with most of NECAs figures (Aliens, Home Alone, Elf, Terminator, etc). Even if I had a problem with the faces once its in hand, have him wear that hat and the sunglasses, I would definitely be satisfied knowing there's MacReady on the shelf.

There was almost a sequel TV Series about 16 years ago. Was written by Frank Darabondt, and the script is amazing. Syfy passed because it would have been too expensive and more violent than they were used to at the time.

I remember something about that. Too bad it never materialized but any sequel, movie or otherwise, would be bupkiss without kurt and david.

HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT. NECA finally straightened out The Thing license?? WOW.

I'll be happy just to have an Ultimate MacReady figure, but if this leads to more figures from the movie I'll be fucking overjoyed. I'll buy anything Thing-related that NECA sees fit to put out.

Great times we're living in, folks. Great times.

Everyone begged for this and they finally did it. Now everyone needs to make sure they buy one or two. The second pre-orders are up i'm all in. Give them incentive to keep going.

They've already worked with Keith David recently so hopefully that makes it easy for them to do Childs as well. Hopefully we get at least one version of the Thing.

This makes my day. Thanks, Toyark!

My only reservation is that I hope it doesn't have an ugly, obtrusive ab crunch.

Typically most of the newer NECA figures have a rubber shirt overlay that hides the ab crunch but doesn't impede articulation too much. It's really well engineered and creates a seamless look!

I totally understand the sentiment. Possibly my most-wanted figure ever, and if NECA sees fit to do some other characters and monsters from the film, I'll actually construct a full Outpost 31 dio to display them in.

I will seriously buy anything from The Thing that NECA sees fit to release. I mean, I can't imagine they'd work all these years to finally get the license and just stop at one figure.

BTW, the irony...I just finished my own MacReady custom a few weeks ago because I had given up all hope of NECA releasing one. It's not perfect, but I was happy with it...until now, that is!
