Honestly, I'm mostly interested in the helmeted dude (he's my fav), but if I can find them cheap enough, I may do all four. Seriously, between this license and The Thing, NECA is KILLING IT this year so far. Sell 'em on ebay. But do it fast, because I predict a shit-ton of these heads will be there before long. Hell yeah I'm excited for the werewolves .the sculpting looks really Good on the nightmare nazi wolf's. Love that movie definitely one best werewolf movies made ..the transformation scene is just nuts ,really enjoy all the gore practical effects .
What's next neca ? More monsters please ! since Kurt's likeness has already been sculpted hopefully a Jack burton and would be amazing to see Lo pan with some of his monster minions . |

We need a 7" Snake Plissken. If they don't make one you better believe I'll be customizing one using Mac.

I'm not trying to throw shade at the Nazi Mutant Werewolf figures and I'm glad they're coming out.
But when NECA had the Godzilla license I was constantly being told on this board and elsewhere that there was no way NECA could make a profitable King Ghidorah, that there just wasn't a market for any of the Kaiju in Godzilla's rogue gallery except for Godzilla. And now here are some figures NECA made from a 45 second dream sequence in An American Werewolf in London and metaphorically everyone on this board is talking about buying four of them. I am legitimately glad NECA is making these figures. I am legitimately glad for the people that are excited for them and will buy them. But it also feels kinda like I've been kicked in the nuts. |

Well it wasn't so much that it wouldn't be profitable to make other Kaiju, it's that NECA got a really shitty deal that only let the make Godzilla. I think they got a little more leeway for KotM, but by then I believe the license ran out or they dropped it and now Super7 is gonna be making Zilla figures
I'm aware of Super 7. They're not at NECA detail -at least not thus far. They're in the wrong scale, but still, I'm cautiously optimistic. |

My only guess is that the nature of this will lend people to buying more than one versus monsters, but it's still an odd choice when looking at the grand scheme of things. I don't know NECA stuff so well to know if the figure uses any other parts, or if the body will be usable for other figures in the future either. |

As to the lack of Ghidora, I wonder if they suspected that they weren't going to have their license renewed and weighed the cost of all-new tooling of a large, expensive figure that they would only be able to produce for a short amount of time and thought it wasn't worth it. |

They previously explained that King Ghidorah would have been a minimum of $150 and the box would have been bigger than the Alien Queen. They didn't see the audience for the figure when they were working on the line.
And don't forget, the movie was a near disaster at the US box office, which likely killed any chance of a change of heart. A massive 1-time use mold that would be $150+ and they felt might not sell enough to warrant producing can't really be compared to a $30 figure where those parts will 100% be reused on different figures in the future.

I'm really not talking about Ghidorah, new or old. I know that's a huge and expensive endeavor. But something like Mothra is a super simple figure in both forms, that's fairly essential in a Godzilla display, and would've absolutely sold. The Monsterarts one sells for a couple hundred bucks now.

And if NECA could make a Pacific Rim Otachi for $80 and then reuse 70% of the parts for a version with folded wings I struggle to reconcile that they couldn't have done something similar with Ghidorah, the main villain of King of the Monsters. Also, this exists. $1600! Quote:

And, as these American Werewolf in London figures exemplify, NECA is quite good at doing exactly that kind of thing. Oh well, let's see what the future holds. |

For what it's worth Otachi was around $65 and they did her land form first, the winged one came later. I do share the sentiment that not getting Ghidorah was lame. Personally I was hoping for his Showa design, and in that case size can't even be a strong counter since Showa King Ghidorah wasn't that much bigger than Godzilla.

The movie did not do as well as expected, but it was nowhere near a disaster. It doubled its budget depending on what reports you read -and that was just in theaters, not home movie sales or merchandising.

Also, this exists. $1600! And you can't compare Prime 1 to NECA at all. Prime 1 is a company that only sells low run, high cost statues and busts. Their items are priced withe the intent on selling between 500 and 1,000 pieces in most cases. For Otachi, you're missing one huge change between 2015 and 2019, and that's the loss of Toys R Us. NECA had a huge presence there, as TRU was their main brick and mortar retail outlet. NECA's allocated shelf space was fairly large. Had TRU still been around in 2019, I suspect Ghidorh would have most likely been made.

US Box Office was only $110 Million. It had a near 68% drop in its second weekend. Movie studios, and US merchandisers (for better or worse) really only pay attention to US box office, unless a specific international market significantly outperforms the others. an example of that was Pacific Rim's performance in China, which was 1/3rd of the total box office. And looking at home video/merchandising sales in hindsight isn't the same as trying to project future sales based on a poor US box office.

Are you talking about in-store sales? GameStop.com is still selling and taking pre-orders for new NECA items. In stores, GameStop has been generally winding down that side of the business as they lose more and more money on in-store sales. Plus, there's just not a lot of real estate to put in a full section, and the collectible sections in my local GameStop's have been shrinking to almost nothing. It's mainly just socks, shirts, and stuff they've had for years.

Never seen the movie, but my understanding is it takes place in London, in the 80ies... why would there be any nazi mutant werewolves in it?

It's a weird dream sequence. It's been a long time since I've seen the movie also, I don't quite remember why they're nazis, or if there's any reasoning behind it at all.

It's implied that David is Jewish so that would be the significance of the demons being Nazis in his dream.

I feel like some of you are trying to over-analyze a nightmare sequence.
