This version looks so much better than the SDCC one. The glow in the dark parts just looked terrible. This update kicks much ass, however. It looks great on my shelf next to my NES Mego-style Jason (and, of course, all my other Jasons).

Will Edwards didn't know the insanity he was jump-starting when he painted that spare Jason figure in NES colors and sent a pic of it to NECA back in the day.

BTW, is that Pam head re-purposed from the shrine dio from NECA's old Part 2 two-pack?

Great photos! I equally like both releases. The updated version looks amazing, no doubt, but the original has a much different approach. The sealed box(IMO)will be the most sought after version. The clear parts are even unique, it's the first clear Hockey Mask we've ever received for a Jason figure. The figure is a prototype of NECAs vision for an amazing line of figures. Now the NES figures are more refined. This NES line for me is best represented with NES Jason, thanks Will.

One of the reasons the figure looks better is because the hockey mask is a different sculpt from the SDCC Jason. It's the mask from the Final Chapter series of figures (only minus the headcut) which was slightly wider and better proportioned than the original Part 3 Jason figures.

And to answer your question Dolemite, yes, the floating head is a repaint of the original accessory from the Friday 1 & 2 multipack, which included Pamela Voorhees and (sackhead) Jason. I kinda wish they made it look more medusa-like like the original sprite from the game, but it's still a really cool touch.

As you said Evilekim, I'm totally stoked to have this version of the figure, even if it's not all that different from the original. I still have the SDCC in the shrink wrap, so having this one finally gives me a chance to enjoy this figure the way it was intended to be. The fact that the box plays not only my ringtone, but one of my favorite NES themes of all time only makes it more awesome!

I'm pretty sure it's the same sculpt from the Part 3 mask as NECA isn't a company to retool a 'damaged" mask when they have one that isn't damaged already in their stock that's designed to fit the Pat 3 body they used on this figure already. One reason this seems like a different mask is because it didn't shrink coming out of the mold like the glow in the dark mask had an unfortunate tendency to do. I had seen one where it shrank an entire 1/8th inch smaller from the original size it should have been. Even mine has an undersized mask, though not as bad.

The Pamela Voorhees head is awesome, and I am very glad they scaled it up for this figure. If it were as small as the original I would have been very disappointed.

Personally, I like this version of the figure more than the SDCC version. It's great to have the extra paint, and I like the mask being less translucent than the original, and the extra paint looks great. Still, I like my original release. I was going to just sell it...buuut I'm not too sure I wanna sell it.

This was my very first NECA figure. Unfortunately I ordered it online and it arrived with no working theme music. On the plus side, I intended to have it displayed with the window box open so it’s saved me the job of disconnecting it.

As a huge Friday the 13th fan this version has a special place in my heart, as the game was my first ever encounter with the character. The sculpt, colour scheme, and packaging are perfect. I know this is an old thread, but I’d still highly recommend this figure if you can pick it up.

I agree. I have both this version and the original glow in the dark one. 2 of my favourites, for sure.
