To chime in on the Toy Biz vs Hasbro debate, I enjoy the work from both companies. I would say the Toy Biz BAF's were better, or larger if nothing else. I often wonder how/if Toy Biz would have evolved in their sculpt techniques. Not all the figures were bad, but many of the female figures stick out as that. I have been pretty happy with Hasbro since the relaunch, I'll admit that.

They're the only people who make Legends anymore, it's not like we have a real choice. The only other company that makes affordable Marvel figures is Diamond and they only release a small trickle which has limited articulation in favor of detail. This thread would not have made it anywhere close to 1000 pages if it was just reminiscing about the ol' days. Hasbro has proven they can be complete asses time after time but as long as the products are good we mostly assume the "it's out of our hands" position about the bad parts because they don't listen to us anyways.

Frankly, I'm surprised people still prefer Toybiz's Legends. They're lanky, they're misproportionate, their hands are huge, a lot of them have balls for thighs instead of actual thighs, taking away from the illusion that they are a character, and some of their feet are huge.
Yes, without TB we would not have the amount of articulation in our toys we do today, but that doesn't mean I just have to like their stuff over Hasbro's. It's called evolution. ToyBiz set the modern standard for toys. What takes away from the illusion for me with Hasbro is the lack of paint apps on 90% of the figure. Just look at the recent Cyclops, only painted on the face. It looks like a big shiny piece of plastic, not good. Evolution is something ToyBiz would have done over time. I would not call Hasbro an evolution, from the moment they took over people noticed a dip in quality. A true evolution would have kept TB's paint and accessories and added the new better proportions, not sacrificing one for the other.

Toybiz figures where Hasbro went with an F'd up costume choice (or build) so I kept the Toybiz original-
Storm Sabertooth Colossus Havok GreenGoblin (good Hasbro fig. just like TB better) Sentinel Toybiz figures I keep becquse Hasbro hasn't attempted them yet- Gambit Nightcrawler Beast Longshot Bishop Bet Ray Bill (toybiz or old Hasbro?) Mojo MODOK WereWolf by Night Cannonball BlackHeart Apocakypse Mr.Sinister Select Figures I chose over Hasbro- Abomination Destroyer Ultron Hulk Rhino Select Figures I use not yet represented by Hasbro- Lizard Mephisto Figures I had to build/alter/make myself because Hasbro/Select/Toybiz just can't get done or make right- Red Skull Prof.X Baron Strucker Banshee FC Angel Blade Man-Thing Domino Rictor Hannibal King Wolfsbane Tombstone Hammerhead Vision ShumaGorath Figures that Hasbro has totally nailed that look better than anything that has come before- too numerous to even list! My Toy Family tree is varied and strong! lolz- no toy discrimination here! Last edited by Bo Ttef; 03-01-2017 at 10:49 AM.. |

So, barring a surprise reveal, based on everything we've heard from retailers it's pretty safe to say we know what's coming out for the rest of 2017. 7 waves (Sandman, Titus, Warlock, Netflix, Mantis, Vulture, Ragnarok) plus a handful of 2 packs and exclusives.
What do you think we'll see in 2018? My guesses -X-men Wave. Some combo of Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Storm, Jubilee. BAF Apocalypse or Sauron. -3 avengers wave. Given the huge cast of infinity War, I wouldn't put it past one of these waves being all movie characters (Iron Man, Cap, Spidey, Star Lord, Hulk, Thor, Vision, MCU Thanos). Also guessing that we'll finally get MCU vision. -Antman Wave. I feel like there's a possibility they'd skip this due to how long the first wave lingered at retail (still finding wasps), but it was definitely a useful wave to give us figures that didn't quite fit in other waves. If it's made, Movie Antman and Wasp, and then rest of slots will be misc characters we've been missing (crossbones etc) -Black Panther wave. Only 1 wave as has been standard with Non-Sequels and not as mainstream characters. BAF Man Ape. -Spiderman Wave. These have been pretty constant , but I can't for the life of me think of a recognizable Spider-Man they could use to anchor it, and given the high volume of Spidey figures we're getting in 2017 (Movie+2 packs), I doubt they'd try to do an improved basic spider-man. Hopefully we finally get a doc ock -Guardians Wave. Given the popularity of the movie and the cartoon, and the far larger depth of characters, I could see this becoming a spider-man style "No film tie-in needed" line. -We'll definitely see an X-Men wave with at least 1-2 of the figures you mentioned. Probably not everyone you mentioned, but Storm and Nightcrawler seem like the most likely candidates. -I hope to god we don't get that many Avengers waves, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did. As long as we start digging deeper for the comics characters (Swordsman, any Young Avengers, the original Thunderbolts), I'd be happy. -An Ant-Man wave would be cool, but like you said, the linger factor of the previous Ant-Man wave might make Hasbro a little gun-shy. Though I could see them releasing a 12" Giant-Man figure to tie into the new movie. -A Black Panther wave could be another one like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, where characters who are a little 'out of place' in other waves could get a fair shake. Maybe, if he doesn't come sooner, we could FINALLY get a Blue Marvel there, along with an America Chavez (thank god for Ultimates). I'm totally on-board with a Man-Ape BAF, and I hope Hasbro is too. -I agree on the lack of an 'anchor' figure for a Spidey wave. Maybe the silver Spider-Armor? I could see Spidey Noir finally getting a 6" release, and maybe Prowler. Doc Ock is a must, but I hope that, if they make him the BAF, they do it as a proper BAF, and not parsing his tentacles out like they're doing with Vulture's wings. -The possibility is there, and it's not like they don't have plenty of characters to pad out another wave. The major problem would be, again, an anchor character, since we're kinda getting a glut of Star-Lord figures this year, and he's the recognizable 'face' of the Guardians for the general buying public. That said, if they'd FINALLY release a 6" armored comics Gamora, it'd be golden. My own thoughts on a wave we might see next year: -Deadpool. Hasbro has claimed, time and again, that they're not restricted by Disney/Marvel as far as what franchises they can make figures on, and given the mass popularity of Deadpool, I wouldn't be surprised to see a tie-in wave with the release of the sequel. There's a lot of characters to mine from the comics if they can't/don't want to use any movie-based designs, and it's not like people wouldn't want another (preferably easier-to-find) DP figure. For padding out the wave, we could see the likes of Agent X, Outlaw, Copycat, Garrison Kaine; Comics!Ajax or T-Ray as the BAF; and maybe, finally, a new Domino (given the buzz about her casting in DP2).

OOh 2018 discussion:
I'll chime in, not sure on figures and this is not in any particular order. 1.X-Men wave, pretty much confirmed 1 wave per year. This has got to be separate from a Deadpool wave. My ideal would be Psylocke, Storm, Gambit, Nightcrawler, ANAD Wolverine, Mister Sinister (they need to get some villains in there), Madrox and Moonstar with either a Sauron or Apocalypse BAF. 2. Deadpool wave. Deadpool, Domino...not sure about the rest to be honest. 3. Spider-Man wave 1. I'm not sure, I just know a comic non-Ultimate Vulture, a Mysterio, a Firestar (SM and AF connection) Justice (Firestar connection lol) and a classic Dr. Octopus BAF would be appreciated. 4. Spider-Man wave 2. See above...I'm running out of ideas. 5. Avengers wave 1. Mostly redos with a few classics. Getting Quasar or Sersi would be great, but I'm not counting on it. I could also see them putting some Inhumans in here or wave. 2 6. Avengers Wave 2 (this or wave one will likely be tied in with Ant-Man, unless they gave him a wave of his own. 7. Black Panther wave. Shuri, T'Challa, Killmonger, updated Klaw...not sure on the rest but a M'Baku BAf for sure. I still see Netflix figures as being exclusive. Also it's possible only one Spider-Man wave opening up a Netflix wave or a separate Ant Man wave. Also the same for not having either a Deadpool or misc. X-men wave, but I'm going to go with what I posted above as the most likely. Hasbro does like their Spider-Man waves. I think it's also possible Hasbro MAY sneak a second Thor wave in somewhere, but not sure if that's 2017 or 2018. If we get comic and MCU Loki in the 2 pack I rescind that, as I'd think him not being in the rumored wave would be the reasons I'd think there was more. Legends Day as dubbed today was a smashing success. Only dark spot was the guy who practically ripped Angela out of my hands. Oh well, got a friend at Walgreens to put out an APB out on her across the area for me. Overall, awesome day of hunting.

![]() I got my BAF Galactus in the mail today! The lower torso is faded, but I know that's very common, so it doesn't bother me. I will say, the torso joint is very loose. Is there any way to fix or help that? Those minor issues aside, this is such a great looking figure! Last edited by Nostalgic; 03-01-2017 at 02:23 PM.. |

I told myself over and over again that I was not going to end up getting this guy, as I've never been a fan...and yet he somehow found his way into my cart at Target yesterday. I really have a problem I think...
![]() All in all, and my disdain (or lack of...feelings really at all...) it's a pretty good figure. The armor and cape work nicely, the head and hair braids are really well sculpted and the figure holds his weapons really well. Weapon storage would have been nice, but after the mess that was Angela, I'm glad they didn't include any. ![]() About the only issue that I had with Shatterstar was that the figure looked like someone someone else had handled it with charcoal all over his fingers, as there was black smudging all over the white parts of his legs. Thankfully I was able to get the stains off with some soap and a toothbrush. The black could have been applied a little better on the legs as well, as there are cracks of white that peek through on certain spots in the grooves of the musculature, but other than that, a solid figure and a welcome surprise considering I had no interest in it initially. ![]() In addition this was also the first chance that I got to take photos using the figure stands from NECA, and while they take some getting used to as they are larger and more bulky than obitsu stands, they actually work really well with Legends figures thanks to their sturdiness. I still recommend obitsu stands over these, but for those who do not wish to import, these are a half decent substitute. |

Toybiz or Hasbro...Wolverine, Sabertooth, Deadpool, Hulk, Captain America, Stealth Iron man, MF Spidey, Daredevil, Colossus, Deadpool 2/Black Widow and Winter Soilder (Toybiz molds/Hasbro lincense, right?), Toybiz slight edge, in my opinion...BAFs, Giantman, Sentinel, Apocalypse, Blob, Toybiz again, in my opinion...Don't get me wrong, Hasbro has made some good figures of late, but reusing molds and repainting too much and way less detailing recently, just have been cherry picking Hasbro's wave of late. Not hating, just got Titus in mail...Awesome!

So, today I got the Guardians wave (minus Starlord), and all the X-men wave, in good ol' London, UK.
My LCS orders cases from Hong Kong, whilst the much bigger shop, Forbidden something, just got last X-men wave last week, and they are mostly sold, but waaay too late for me. I don't get why such a big shop don't bother getting the latest, but I digress. Luckily for me my LCS kept all 12 figures for me (I got two Dazzlers, be rude not to). After dipping stiff joints, and bend legs, wings etc, in boiled water, this is my reactions: - I have no idea who Titus is, but had to get him. Drax movie is going to some kid, I prefer comic one. Had to have a Space-cat. -my Yondu don't resemble Rooker but is fine, he will be displayed with crest up till a comic one arrives. -Vance is ok, but he was an Avenger for 5 seconds so I had to have him. - Darkhawk looks great, thou I don't care for the character, wings needed straightening. -Kid Nova is very cute and sturdy so great poses out of him. No idea what the little toy is... -Angela is without a doubt the better figure, even if I don't care for the character. Looks better in hand than pics. -Old Man Logan's face is much better painted with washes than I expected. -Shatterstar is a great looking figure (and I hate Liefeld characters), and he has feet. -Dazzler if fantastic to pose, thou a pearlised costume would be better. I get why the hair is not bigger (she would not stand up on skates), but I'm frighten the white costume will yellow in time. -I feel Colossus is a tad too small, but I actually like the outfit, and the heads are brilliant, I prefer the beard one, today. -Polaris is very cute and her colours make her stand out a lot, but yeah, the cape keeps falling out... -and then... Cyclops. Good sculpt, but he may be the most frustrating ML in yonks. Why the heck did they not glue those straps? What a mess. Can't wait for Byrne's Classic. -the stand out has got to be Warlock. Just a piece of art. Whomever sculpt him, really like the character. Best BAF in years. Finally, my LCS had Black Panther exclusive. Hated it. Patchwork figure. I'll keep to classic and movie, thanx. |

That's just Phlish, Hasbro really dropped the ball with him or her. By not including any kind of stand or support it makes the little guy or gal look like a beanie baby for Sam instead of another Nova. Phlish was very short-lived only appearing in a couple of flashbacks in which he or she appears to die anyway, I guess someone at Hasbro figured the design was cute enough to include with Sam.

Thanks for the warning! Mine is just going to stay on a shelf so I won't bother trying to mess with it and risk breaking it. Are they generally loose from the get go or would a new upper torso be worth keeping an eye out for?

This honestly might be my favorite wave to date from Hasbro. Everything that I've gotten (which is everything save for Angela and Vance yet) is simply wonderful. Kinda makes it hard to rank them for me.
