Was digging through one of my bins when I came across X-2 Wolverine here, which left me badly wanting an updated version. The ToyBiz one is still a very good figure, and holds up quite well and fits in nicely with an MCU display thanks to it's excellent articulation and decent headsculpt, but I would love to see how a turn with Hasbro would have came out. Shame all sides couldn't get together to give Hugh just one one more run in action figure form, as had it not been for him and his success with X-Men, comic book movies wouldn't have evolved into the juggernauts they have been since.
Howlett? Is that "Lucky" Jim Howlett? ![]() Ain't nobody called me "Lucky" in a long time!!! ![]() What's it to you bub!?! ![]() Just nice seeing a familiar face around here, soldier... ![]() |

^^ Haha! It's not a matter of that Mags fig 'aging' well..it was never 'well' to begin with...you're trooper for buying that fig. What's up with his hands? They don't even look like they belong on his body. He should lay off the pron...either that, or his mitts are swollen from punching up some beef flanks a la Rocky Balboa.
On another note, I wonder if this custom maker read our convo regarding Puma a few months back: Custom Marvel Legends PUMA 6" Figure by LEECH Customs | eBay That's a pretty solid custom. I see Jackal's making the rounds on the custom front. I wish he/she/whomever had placed a comparative Legend next to the fig. I'm curious as to whether they reused most of the Jackal mold to cobble that custom, and a sense of scale would help greatly. ...back to slumber land... |

@Blue Marvel: While the skin tone is a little jaundiced, and the hands kinda big (from disciplining those goodie two shoed children of his no doubt...) that Magneto just so happens to be my favorite Magneto to date, simply because Hasbro AND Toybiz just can't seem to get it right, and this one is pretty faithful to the source. It's also bears a pretty good likeness to Ian Mckellen, and although the helmet is big and goofy looking, it was in the original films as well, so it works. I think he looks good on an MCU shelf as well...

@Triv
Not a fan of MCU figs in general, with those early X-men figs marking my least favorite. That said, eye of - and the beholder - yadda, yadda. In fact, I just offloaded a considerable number of MCU figs including BAF's: Hulk-Buster, Ultron, and Giantman. I enjoy movies as much as the next dude, but I view much of the merch spawned from them as largely superfluous. But if you like them, more power to you. ...things are getting "odd" again...call medico "peculiar." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Eh, don't really mind Nova not being there. I'd have liked to see Moondragon and Quasar more since I always liked their romance and you could've done some neat stuff with Drax finding out his daughter isn't dead.
Is that X2 Magneto? I remember the sculpts on the X2 figs being a big step-up from the first ones. |

The X2 waves were a huge step up from the original ToyBiz X-Men figures. They featured better articulation and sculpts, with less emphasis on play features (although some, like Cyclops, still had some.) The only downside to them was that there were only two waves, and that the roster was somewhat lopsided, with most of them being Wolverines in some form. It would have been nice if they could have made a Lady Deathstrike or Jean for the line, but knowing ToyBiz's history with female characters who knows how they would have turned out...(although their movie figures usually weren't too bad...I still have my Jessica Alba Invisible Woman figures and think they look good enough for the time...) |

I know someone who uses the invisible variant Alba Sue as a stand-in in his comic FF collection.
And yeah Toy Biz's female figures were usually...let's call them underwhelming. |

I remember that it was stated that a Lady Deathstrike figure was in the works, but was scrapped at the last moment. A super deep cut to my heart, because I've wanted a figure of her since watching X-2.

Does anyone know why Hasbro doesn't make X-Men movie figures anymore?

I wonder why they can't get them though. Clearly the rights were in hand up until X-Men Origins Wolverine

Marvel doesn't want merchandise made of the Fox movies because they don't want to promote them.

Yeah, but it's not just Hasbro that's not making merch of Fox's Marvel movies. It's everyone. Even Hot Toys has only done the versions of Wolverine from The Wolverine and Days of Future Past, and that last one was 3 years ago. Whether Fox doesn't want merch made of their movies, or Marvel isn't letting them make merch of their movies, Hasbro has nothing to do with the decision.

Hasbro isn't the only one who gets to make these decisions. As noted below, there's been a pullback of X-Men movie related merchandise across the board ever since First Class. Origins was the last one to actually get a dedicated toy line.

I don't see how Marvel would have any say in that if Fox holds the rights.
