Astonishing Wolverine was done by Toybiz for their Apocalypse BAF wave. It's easily my favorite Wolverine released this far, and Hasbro would be hard pressed to top it. The sculpt is just so damned detailed...

I had to do some Wiki reading since I had been wondering this myself. Red Goblin is actually Norman with the Carnage symbiote. Apparently he lost his powers at the end of the Superior Spiderman arc. Because of Spiderman's cure, Norman couldn't retake the Goblin Serum to get his powers back so he tried to obtain super powers elsewhere. Norman got the Carnage symbiote, which "fixed" Norman could become the Green Goblin again. Since he was more powerful with the Goblin's powers and the Carnage symbiote, Norman stayed the Red Goblin. Norman defeated pretty much everyone, including Venom (Eddie) so Spiderman wore the Venom Symbiote to help defeat the Red Goblin.

That was a recent story and it was actually pretty damn good. I don't think we needed a figure of it right away (or the modern black costume that showed up in there for like 3 pages) but I'll take it.
Sorry if this has been said, I've been busy with work, but DorkSide sent me an email saying they shipped my order of the X-Men wave! I'm so excited!

I kinda hope the new BP movie wave is the start of seperate comic and movie waves again. It will save me from buying movie figures i have no need or want for.

I hear you there! I'd be ok with it! Nothing against those who buy that stuff, but a separation would be nice. Maybe we'd get comic waves with more obscure characters that way.

So I just ordered most of the x wave from HTS and then got my BBTS shipping notice right after but payment hasn't processed. Can I still get it cancelled?

I was able to get my BBTS order cancelled so I got the 5 figures at retail from HTS. Now I just gotta track down Psylocke and Jaime.

Very unlikely. Part of the reason for the success of the line is that retailers like ordering the movie figures and Hasbro is able to Trojan Horse in lesser known characters that the stores likely wouldn't be interested in otherwise. You're gonna have a much easier time convincing a store to order waves containing well known characters or someone who has a movie than you are with some fan favorites who is likely not gonna move well.

One problem i see is brick n mortar would over order movie waves that would likely stagnate pegs after the hype dies down and comic waves would get little to no peg space. As much as i like the comic figs over movie figs keeping a balance of both, especially now with so many stores and chains closing, is likely the best way to keep getting characters we want even if it takes a wave or two.

I mean lets face it whats the likelyhood of getting deathshead2 unless it was in the gotg movie wave? I hate saying this, cause i feel dirty for doing it, but without the movie figs getting obscure characters, outside of overpriced, super limited con exclusives, are not as likely as with out the movie figs. Not saying i hate every movie fig, but with thedouble and triple dipping they are doing with movie characters does kinda feel sheisty of hasbro. It definitely makes me leary of buying them unless i really like the baf.

For me personally, once I get my hands on the Rail Authority set, Mandarin, and what's left of my Studio pre-orders, I'm done with MCU figures as a whole. Like you said, the double dipping has become a but much, and I'm really not enjoying the films much anymore either.

Maybe if the new Spider-Man film has some cool villian designs, my interest will pick up again...but I don't know honestly. With all the hype it got, even Infinity War had me rolling my eyes at it at times. I've simply become burnt out by them.

X wave is hitting retail too. Just found remnants of the wave at Target. Wolvie, Magneto, and Gladiator. Other 4 were gone.

Nothing wrong with that. It's the reality the situation. Half of these lesser known comic characters getting made likely wouldn't have were it not for them being slipped into a more popular movie wave.

One thing you notice when looking at the list of characters Hasbro has done vs. what ToyBiz did with the line is that Hasbro gets in some much deeper cuts when it comes to obscurity, which the movie stuff gives them the leeway to do.

Your average retailer likely isn't gonna be too enthused by you trying to sell him figures of C and D list Marvel characters, but being able to slip them into something that's tied to a hit movie allows them to get made.

Target's site claims my nearest store has the Infinity War pack but I'll probably just stick with my pre-order. If it's already out at Target hopefully it won't be long before the online stores have it in.

I know we are still fretting/just got over fretting about the Apocalypse wave, but was there a *pretty sure* confirmation or mainly just speculative rumor that Dorkside was getting the Sauron wave next week?

I know, I know, I just can't help myself sometimes.

The Ross/Killmonger and Falcon/Winter Soldier packs were also pretty available at Target too. I passed on both, Killmonger is the only figure out of either pack I really want but not for $40.

Picked up Venom from Gamestop... so glad I skipped the last version, I much prefer him without the tongue and I get a comic version unmasked head too... plus the symbiote head accessory is neat.

Saw the Dr. Strange/Thanos 3 pack at my Target today... even at 70 bucks there were only two left on the shelf. Dr. Strange's headsculpt looks really good... not 70 bucks good though.

Got my shipping notice today for the Apocalypse wave. If I had time I'd have just picked them up in person. Dorkside is only a 25-minute drive from me. Now I get to watch as my box travels from Murfreesboro, TN to Shreveport, LA, then on to Lexington, KY, before finally arriving back in Nashville some time next week, unless there's a brief layover in Raleigh, NC. FedEx “smart” post, indeed…

Also got a notice from EE that my X-23 shipped yesterday. She's the only one from the Sauron wave I wanted, and EE was the only one selling her solo at a decent price. I almost wish I'd bought two, as both head sculpts deserve to be on display, IMO.

Anyway, I'm equal parts excited, relieved, and impatient at the moment.
