I paid slightly over regular price on the Legends set last year on ebay. I found a good seller with free shipping. But honestly, if you can, sit in front of Hasbro's site and buy when the exclusive comes up. I am fortunate enough to work a job where I can keep Hasbro's site open on one screen while I do other things and wait for the exclusive to pop up. I plan on not over paying this year. Here's hoping.

Okay, so not trying to defend any "scalpey" pricing practices, but as far as SDCC exclusives go, the prices on the secondary market may seem exorbitant, but the admission fees, travel expenses, time spent waiting in lines, shipping costs of trying to get those things home, etc, have to reasonably be worth something, and taken into consideration by buyers unable or unwilling to make the trek out to SDCC to get their own set. I've always landed them on HTS at regular price, but if I was forced to buy them from the secondary, I'd give the sellers a certain amount of leeway with the prices considering I myself didn't have the funds to go (and by all accounts, it is an EXPENSIVE and stressful endeavor hitting up SDCC).
Again, not justifying, but just trying to help put things in perspective. |

I don't mind paying extra on eBay. I totally understand the costs involved etc but double, triple the price? That's insane. I think I'll wait until the price goes down a bit more to get it on eBay. Right now everyone wants be first and secure one in case they can't get one later. Fear drives prices up.

Ebay prices on SDCC exclusives are indeed crazy. But if you put in all the factors to get em during the con, doubling the price is just about right. I've been to the con for the past ten years, and it has gotten pretty bad since 2010.
From the day that I have to buy the tickets, which I have to request a day off so that I can wait in front of the computer. Constantly wait for an announcement when parking is available, and then make reservations again ($10-$20 per day). Request a vacation starting Wednesday (preview night) till Sunday. Wait in line on the first day for 4-5 hrs to get the badges. By the time the doors open, the HTS booth is closed for the day because the line is already at full capacity. Come back the next day as early as 6am to get tickets to be in line for the booth ( that is if your lucky if they dont cap that line too). Then be inline again for the next 5-6 hrs just to buy the items. And by the time you get in front, some of the items are sold out for the day. So you have to repeat the process again the next day. ![]() (Badge pick-up line. SDCC 2011) ![]() (Average number of items that you'll be shipping) ![]() (SDCC 2012: another line to get into the exhibit hall) ![]() (SDCC 2014: another line just to get inside the convention center) I'm just lucky that I'm from San Diego and I don't have to worry about hotel, food and shipping.

When I took all of the "line" photos, you won't be able to see where it ends. I'm trying to look for my Hasbro Booth line pics, but this is the only one i can find.
![]() SDCC 2009: Hasbro booth It's just pure chaos. And there's always an instant that all these grown men would start bickering whose in line and whose not. And it's just Hasbro. I haven't even gone through the other booths like Mattel, LEGO, DC Collectibles, Diamond Select Toys, Entertainment Earth, Funko, Gentle Giant Studios, etc

To be honest I'm just grateful that people are willing to pick up multiple copies of items for buyers who can't make it. Travel expenses alone from the UK to San Diego are astronomical around that time of year, and then to factor in hotel costs and the sheer amount of time spent waiting in queues... I'd happily pay someone extra money to go through all that to pick me up a ML box set.

So when does Hasbro put up their exclusives on their website? i know when i searched for that infinity gaunlet last year no luck at all.... all the ebay scalpers were charging 4 times the actual price. i of course wasn't willing to pay $200 or $300 bucks for a foam glove.
luckily since a few friends of mine our heading out there i might try having them grab a few things for me Last edited by donmeca2020; 06-05-2015 at 06:23 PM.. |

Mattel may suck too, but at least they tell you the exact date and time their stuff will go up. |

Ditto on the job, although this year's a bit different since I work a bit earlier then usual. Last time I was able to grab them when I was at home getting ready to go to work and had my laptop still on and the site up haha. This year may have to pull over and find a wifi place or something...arg:P
That's actually a great point somewhat on them selling it on and just paying for it Ebay...Heck I usually just with with the lowest BIN if anything. |

I wanted to just bring this to attention of all, until further notice, nobody should do deal with "Spats". I've sent him $200 for a lot of Hellboy toys and Marvel Legends,up until the $$ was sent he was very good with communication and sending me pics, But once he got the $$ it was a different story. It's now going on 3 weeks and he has yet to respond with tracking info, or update the Paypal invoice with info. Tried calling the phone number he gave in Paypal, but goes straight to voicemail, have tried emailing him 3-4 times after payment was sent, and contacting him through the site, but his inbox on Toyark is full. I had no other choice but to open a claim with Paypal to get my $$ back, if the items show up, I'll cancel the claim and take back, what I've said, but I have the feeling it's not going to happen. I don't have a lot of $$, let alone $$ to piss away. Really disappointed I had to post this, rather then positive feedback and haul pics

So as of this exclusive, we'll have Blackheart, Mephisto, Satana, Dormammu, and Hela figures. That'll make a pretty neat Hell god assortment. Now all we need is a Surtur, Satannish, and Belasco!

Sorry to confuse. I meant that these Hell gods have all been released (or will be) in Marvel Legends scale or similar. Blackheart was released in the Onslaught wave, Mephisto by Marvel Select, Satana in the 2013 Thunderbolts SDCC pack, and now Dormammu and Hela in the upcoming SDCC set.

You all forgot to very important determinants of people who resell on Ebay so before we all go talking about their struggles and their service to use collectors dont forget that some people...
1) Intended to go to SDCC anyways, picking up the figure to resell will just offset their expenses. 2) Buy any and all figures they can from various lines as a purely economic outing, time at SDCC is purely work. These kinds of people take advantage at the fact that there are collectors for this stuff. Its not people like you or I going over to SDCC and pick up an extra set to sell on eBay for double the price. |
