Good point on Wanda, her mortality does provide the opportunity for dramatic tension given that she can be killed. Adam was created by a gifted cabal of 'human' scientists, so I would put him on a level just below godhood considering that 'mankind' can't really 'create' a 'god.' I was talking about Warlock's (New Mutants/ Technarch) father when I mentioned Magus.

Seems kinda pointless having another Iron Fist and Brother Voodoo as well, considering we just got one of each in the last year, and it's not like anyone is knocking each other down in the aisle to get at em. |

I hear you. However, my earliest memories of Warlock were the multiple times he was handed his ass by the likes of Thor and others. When he was still 'Him,' he had a run as a confused villain and suffered a few embarrassing loses. It wasn't until Starlin wrote for him, that he became a more serious character. He received an additional boost with the soul gem, but still, he never really became a 'power' through the force of his own agency. A schemer? A tactical cosmic agent? Sure. Shortly after his rebirth (one which featured him seeming to be more personally vested with raw power than any previous incarnation), he was getting clowned by Vulcan. He had to run from him. The same Vulcan that Black Bolt (also not a god) brought to the brink of death. I know Starlin has written stories that lend to Warlock being more substantial, but I believe that has more to do with Starlin's attachment to a character he helped redirect. The same could be said for Thanos, but I at least give him the benefit of being a Titan (cousins to the Eternals who were engineered by the Celestials to be demi-gods...in my book, Celestial science trumps Earthen hacks)...and Thanos had been re-incarnated by Death as significantly stronger than he'd previously enjoyed. The only time I would consider Warlock to be a bona fide god, was after he acquired the Infinity Gauntlet. But otherwise...Powerful? Of course. A god? Nah, not in my opinion. About the other stuff...I strongly suspect that the origin of Sentry will be retconned...again. At least, I hope so. His origin encapsulates most of the hate conferred upon the character. Not just the implausible spin on the super-soldier serum, but the obvious insanity that brilliant 'human scientists' would not just make everyone into Marvel-Kal-els. He should be re-written as a Beyonder in disguise...that's a free-be Marvel, compliments of the house... Ultron was only a cosmic threat because he linked up with, and dominated a very potent offshoot of the Technarchy. However, the forms he took over were not Technarchy proper (like Magus, Warlock, and Tyro), they were the things they leave behind. Almost like highly proficient drones. I'm not sure how impressive that is on a cosmic scale and I doubt they would have been a threat had the Kree not been reeling from Annihilus's wave. The only way they were able to gain purchase was through subterfuge. I love Ultron, but he's only ever been a planetary threat, not cosmic or universal. Badass for Earth, but once you get out of the pond and enter the ocean of the cosmos...he becomes pedestrian. The Ultimates Universe...I'm not gonna create many fans with this comment, but none of what happens in that universe matters. There's a reason why an impermeable membrane exists between 616 and 1610. The Ultimates Universe is much like Marvel Adventures to me...I don't have to pay them any mind. If my sentiment is not similar to how Marvel as a publisher considers the matter, then why go through the bother to bring Miles into 616? They brought him from limbo into the main continuum and NOW his exploits will be 'real.' Nick Fury's Samuel Jackson and that's great....but we all know who the real Nick is. Just as we know what the real MU is...I'm sure many won't see eye to eye with much of this, but this is how I see it. Edit:....and where is this impression coming from that Wonder Man is 'class 100?' I remember the Updated Marvel Universe listing him as being able to press 90 tons making him stronger than the likes of the Thing and Colossus (although both have received boosts to 'class 100' now), but well beneath Thor/Beta-Ray/Hulk/Herc/Namor(in water)/etc. Was there some event that changed this? Even his conversion to full Ionic left him short of Count Nefaria. Hell, he used to always fear for his life when fighting formidable foes like Ultron...Did I miss something? If so, tell me so I can check it out for my own edification. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 12-30-2015 at 07:29 PM.. |

I was considering that they may have moved along enough with working on the show that a figure could be feasible. I agree it is unlikely. Just trying to think of what Iron Fist they would include.

Yeah even I'm not really sure when Wonder Man became so supposedly powerful. Like in the Revengers he made a chump out of Ms. Marvel and one time he easily subdued Red Hulk but in general other characters say stuff like "he's as strong as Sentry" but yeah the actual proof isn't substantive.

Since there's been mentioning of Dr Strange here's a tidbit on the movie.
Marvel tries to explain away their whitewashing of 'Doctor Strange' Ancient One - Yahoo News Of course, what I find hilarious is that people complain when they white wash someone, but I'm the crazy one when I complain that they turned a white dude into a black dude.

Regarding race changing characters I think it really depends on the character. Like Luke Cage would never make sense as a white guy and Steve Rogers makes a lot more sense as white than anything else given when he comes from. Nova on the other hand could be made black since him being white was never a main factor. The Maximoff twins come from a fake place in Eastern Europe (essentially they're Romanian) so them not being white would be weird, Black Panther is from an African country so him not being black would be weird. One thing's for sure, if words aren't chosen carefully then everyone thinks you're being racist.

So are they predicting an outrage before it happens? Personally, I'd rather they stick to canon. They wasted Michael Clark Duncan in Daredevil. He should have been Luke Cage years ago. I also felt Idris Elba was misused. I liked his performance, but I just felt they should use him for another character. They always throw a curve, I've come to expect it. It usually works itself out...and I wouldn't worry about anyone thinking you're a racist for wanting canon. If they do, they are being unreasonable from my prospective.
What if Marvel Studios used Hugh for Namor? Would that annoy anyone? They have the rights for Namor and Hugh has more of a Namor-build. He's done with Wolverine right? Edit: also...the Ancient One fig better be canon and not the BS they're pushing in the MCU... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 12-30-2015 at 09:56 PM.. |

Unfortunately many of the internet denizens do not tend to be as level headed as the members of Toyark. That being said, I am just going to agree with Dr. Kain, En Sabah Nerd and TheBlueMarvel as every other response I try to write turns into a general rant on the idiotic hipocrisy surrounding anything like this.

My goodness...when will this insanity about "color washing" in comic book movies end? (And not just in the color white, because we have seen white characters changed to other ethnicities over the years...) Can't we just push our psuedo-political agendas aside and enjoy the characters for what they are? Or better yet, just trust the directors and producers that they are finding the best people for the job? For all we know, they casted 12 guys for "The Ancient One" and none of them worked out.
I don't see anyone complaining about Elektra being turned from Greek to Eurasian decent, or people complaining that yet another British actor is portraying Spider-Man, who is about as American as they get. (and yes...I know the Spider-Man reference might be a stretch, but think about it...can you imagine the hell the UK would unleash upon Hollywood if anyone other than a British actor was cast for the role of James Bond?) for the Dr. Strange line, I am shocked they didn't do Clea or Enchantress.
I hoped for Jennifer Kale and a Man-Thing BAF. As for SDCC, I feel like the Squadron Supreme would be fitting.

A little off the current topic here, but apparently the Silvermain robot head that comes with Speed Demon will fit on other figures. I want to pop it on the Target 3 pack Utron. Does anyone have an extra one?

$25 is an excellent price for the three pack if you can get one with all good paint. Heck I got mine for $30 and was still super happy with the deal. My least favorite from it is the Hulk but even then it's still a darn good Hulk toy that's fun to mess with.

I'm a fairly big fan of Idris Elba's work (and totally support the idea of him maybe being the next 007) but I feel like making him Heimdall kinda sucks. Not because Heimdall is white in the comics or whatever (though I frequently joke that in the MCU the only black guy in Asgard is the doorman) but like you said because it means Elba feels almost wasted in the role. Maybe if they give him a larger role in Thor 3 then I'd mind less but as is I feel like they don't use Heimdall enough considering who they put in the role. I don't even know who I'd say Elba should've been cast as but I just feel like Heimdall isn't enough yet.
I'd like to see Namor in the MCU. As I recall they put a small nod to Namor in Iron Man 2 but I could be wrong. I don't know who I'd fan-cast Namor as but I do know that I'm less than pleased with the way he's been treated in recent comics (especially very recent comics). What's wrong with Namor? |

They've kinda made him more of a dick than usual but to top it off lately he doesn't have a very good head on his shoulders.
![]() I've always liked him being closer to neutral than almost any other hero but since AvX he felt a lot more like a villain with a conscience.

So, my wife and I started 2015 with this...
![]() And then she bought me a She-Hulk in March while she was out of town visiting family. Today I bought a clearanced Tiger Shark, marking our 21st ML figure and our 18th this year. ![]() 2015 had been the year of Marvel Legends for us, and it looks like 2016 may be a repeat performance. Happy New Year, everyone! (By the way, last night the Ant-Man wave was discounted to $10 at Target; today, it was $6! Even lower with the Cartwheel coupon!) |

Prowler will probably never be in the MCU, he's barely even in any comics as is (old or new). Plus Prowler was not that old in his debut appearances (he was somewhere around Peter's age) and while the Ultimate Prowler is older he is also very new to the scene. Also Prowler just isn't a very important or popular character. Elba playing him would be just as if not more of waste as him being Heimdall.

I would definitely get another full wave for $40!
I wonder how many Targets are doing this since it appears not all are doing the clearance deals. It would be nice if the would put the others on clearance as well ... like the Captain America and Odin figures I still see. Last edited by PlayTime; 12-31-2015 at 07:15 PM.. |
