So this Rocket ... he's gonna be a Comic Select, but with a ton more articulation than the either Comic Legends ever had ... and he's gonna be a pack-in instead of a Mini-BAF or an exclusive?

Hat's off to Diamond Select for that cynical wink.

Judging by Gamora's reaction, he's closer to the Riker - all talk, no game

I'm guessing Gamora was just in it for a bit of fun, and Stark doesn't have the stamina for The Most Dangerous Woman in the Galaxy (also looks like she was just too much for him in general, if that 'ow' is anything to go by.

Just read that Groot is 10 in. and Rocket is 3 in. So they should just be ever-so-slightly taller than their ML counterparts.

Well this one is 6.75 inches, same as ML Starlord and Drax. I'm gonna pick her up for my ML shelf plus Rocket is basically sa me size as ML one but better articulated.

She's also supposed to be a little taller of a woman, or at least I had always imagined anyways.

I am super happy about that Select Gamora, that was one of my dream Marvel figures.

The decision to add Iron Man to the team was honestly pretty bad, really because he didn't do anything of note before leaving the team. He was just thrown in to be the butt of a bunch of jokes about how much more advanced different alien species were. Then they decided to retcon Quill's origin and attitude from stern and serious hero who made occasional quips into a space-pirate who sleeps with a ton of other aliens just to parallel the movie which was just insulting to long-time readers. Overall Bendis made the GotG do the opposite of what they were supposed to be doing because they wanted to push the comics in line with the movie. They don't even guard the galaxy any more, they just float around in space being generally jerk-like and dealing solely with personal issues which weren't issues until Bendis took over. I've said this too many times now but Bendis is great at doing new, original characters but really sucks at handling characters with a legacy and history (Civil War II and all attached characters stand as the most recent victims of Bendicide).

In-canon, Gamora's only about 6'0". So, while definitely a fairly tall woman, this Gamora is WAAAY too tall if you're trying to fit it in with your Legends. It's really only suitable for the 7" scale it was made for.

When the book was relaunched the movie hadn't yet come out and nobody thought it would be a hit. Iron Man had become one of Marvel's A-listers so I'm guessing he was added to the team to help boost sales for a team that hadn't been all that popular in the past.

If you'd told people just a few years ago the Guardians would go from being in comic book limbo after a cancelled series to having a mega-hit movie and multiple books they would've laughed in your face.

Eh. Canon heights/weights aren't believable anyway, as far as the official records go. I think Gamora is just five at a little taller.

True the movie wasn't out yet but it had been announced, and it is apparent as when the volume starts they all have this Mass Effect armor thing going on but later they switch to movie outfits just in time to capitalize. From a marketing standpoint I understood tossing Tony into the mix but it just didn't work out very well. I'm aware the GotG were not popular before the movie because I was one of the few that read those comics but the obscurity of the cast is what made the book work. They were a bunch of schmucks hopelessly trying to hold reality together. I'll say this again even though I've said it in past posts: the GotG movie was great but it made some major changes which the comics unfortunately adopted thus lessening the characters (specifically Star-Lord).

So, I wasn't all that excited for the new colossus untill I saw the bearded head. Ive never seen him with a beard, but I think it looks cool as hell.

And on the select gamora height issue, the select heads are a bit small, and legends a bit big, factor in she's wearing armor, you may get away with pulling her off in certain poses with legends.

It's hard to pretend the armor isn't form-fitting though because it obviously is. Some of the symbiotes and big guys (Thanos, Abomination, etc.) from Select can be worked into Legends setups but Gamora is a normal-sized person so the scale difference will probably be quite apparent.

As an aside while we're talking about Gamora, I like that apparently she and Rich will reconnect in Nova #4. Their brief relationship served well to explore her mindset in a universe where Thanos was dead for awhile and Nova's the reason she joined the Guardians in the first place (that and Star-Lord's secret string-pulling). I thought it was nice that she seemed to be the one who most actively honored his sacrifice.

Nova's influence did make her... almost decent? I mean, her closest approximation of decent. Which is actually still pretty damn naughty.
But whatever, I'm just glad to have Rich back.

He had a beard in the recent Extraordinary X-Men comics, or at least I think he did. I clearly remember him having one a some point. I'm surprised they made one.
I wouldn't be surprised if that new Colossus gets turned into an Apocalypse figure at some point. I feel they have some similar design properties.

Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister, though Mr. Sinister is a bit more leaner, the ribbed skin is similar.
