Now that's what I'm talking about! Sign me up for Kath or Kil...doesn't matter which, obviously.

BagJo 03-23-2019 03:30 PM

I'll buy Taarna if the articulation is decent and the "action feature" is just a joke. I swear to god though, if ANY of these have some stupid lever arm or leg squeezing bullshit I won't buy a single one of them. I hated that stuff as a kid.

Vamp 03-23-2019 04:39 PM

if they took out this franchise, they should take out Fire & Ice figs especially Dark Wolf in 6" inches, instant buy. A Dark Wolf fig would be awesome!

Who are you??? I thought I was one of like 18 humans aware of that Bakshi/Franzetta masterpiece...not super related to Heavy Metal, but totally in near proximity.

Definitely have to co-sign this, huge Fire & Ice fan -- I really wish there would be a Sword & Sorcery line of figures with Dark Wolf, Death Stalker, Beast Master, Death Dealer, etc.

Solid POA though, not like those Death Dealer bricks released recently.

Aw yeah. Fire and ice was what motu shoulda been ;)

I've got the limited edition Fire and Ice collectors HD DVD, bastiches! Comes with a 'making of' docu about Franzetta and Bakshi's partnership...not that big of a deal, but I was very happy to have tracked it down.

Man you gotta burn me a copy ;)

deecee4 03-24-2019 04:50 AM

Frazetta c'mon you guys lol

10 years ago I had ordered a print of the Fire & Ice movie poster from the Frazetta website. Unbeknownst to me, there was an issue with the order. So one day randomly out of nowhere, the phone rings and I see on the caller ID Frank Frazetta and I freak out for about 2 seconds but, it was his daughter in-law calling about the order. That's my Fire & Ice story other than seeing some of the original pencil artwork from the beginning of the movie at the museum a few years back.

In this day and age I'm surprised no one has put out any figures. I know Mezco had announced a Frazetta license a few years back but, nothing ever came of that it seems. Might've just been for Death Dealer anyway.

TheBlueMarvel 03-24-2019 05:46 AM

^Lol whoops! Smacks forehead...I always do that too...:o

I'm also surprised there haven't been figures. However, this thread may function as a catalyst for some kickstarter project...

deecee4 03-24-2019 06:28 AM

Yeah, no worries..me and my friends are always giving each other shit over mispronouncing artists names.

Do you remember some company tried to make a line of Frazetta figures about 20 years ago? They were billed as action figures but they were just cheap looking plastic statues in the 6 inch scale. They even tried to branch out with a Simon Bisley figure but I don't think there was much interest in them cause they were so poorly done.

Haha! Yeah a buddy of mine often corrects me when I invoke Frazetta's name in his company...as I said, I always do it! It's some kinda of linguistic (apparently, writing as well) block in my memory banks...

Yeah, I think I remember what you're talking about. They were sold encased in cylindrical plastic packaging. There were a bunch of them and they were pretty crappy, but if you didn't have the dough for high end statues, they were a cheap alternative. They still show up from time to time at comic stores around me.

Mezco did release a press statement that they'd be doing some Death Dealer stuff. I vaguely remember commenting on it...I wonder what happened with that. I know the staff here consists of just Tony and Joe, but I wish there was a bit more follow up on shit that falls through the cracks.

There's seven left! Get yours...especially before 7 of the other 18 do!

HAha!

Foreddyn 03-24-2019 11:21 AM

Let me correct myself, I like Heavy Metal and Frazetta. I just don't like more-expensive-than-they-should be figures with poor or static articulation. Mini statues are ok but at least put them in poses.

Skoob 03-26-2019 07:39 PM

Isn't Taarna supposed to be fair skinned? Take a look at the pre-order images at BBTS, and then compare with this:

It could be a mix of a darker tone being used and the lighting they're using for those 3D renders. Looking at the Bill and Ted renders, those were off as well.

Skoob 03-27-2019 07:31 AM

Good point. And judging by the relaxed hands, she won't be able to grip her sword, but who cares? :D

I'll wait until they get a prototype done to say whether she can hold the sword or not. I'm holding off pre-ordering until I see what's actually in store. The Bill and Ted didn't do much for me, but these two I'd definitely want.

BagJo 03-27-2019 12:09 PM

I pre-ordered Taarna, but will cancel if I don't like the actual prototype.

Toymonk 03-27-2019 01:13 PM

well these could be awesome, we shall see!

I too love franzetti, but also elmore and boris. My fav fantasy artists!

Hmm..reminds me, we deserve dragon lance action figures =/
and a drizzt

Will post this up on the front page a little later. But Incendium sent this pic over showing the articulation.
