The Agent Coulson Discussion!

As title says, by this time we have all should of seen Avengers at least TWICE. With that being said, a friend of mine gave me this read and I am VERY interested in your thoughts!

MTV Has Some Really Good Theories On Why Agent Coulson May Become The Vision

» Life Model Decoys
It's already been established that there are synthezoids and life model decoys in the Marvel movie universe. Life model decoys have been mentioned several times now, in both "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers," while synthezoids were briefly discussed in "Captain America: The First Avenger." Since there are already fully functioning androids that exist, it seems only fair to assume that The Vision is just around the corner.

» Lack of Emotion
If there's one thing people remember about Phil Coulson, it's that he rarely showed any signs of emotion. Always appearing calm and collected, even after being stabbed through the chest by Loki, Coulson is already android-like in that regard. The fact that he had the foresight to advise Nick Fury to use his untimely death as a means of motivating the team only adds to Coulson's cool and calculated nature.

» Stark Tower Security
Towards the beginning of "The Avengers," Agent Coulson somehow manages to bypass all of the high tech security that Stark Tower has to offer. How is it that Coulson is able to waltz right in to the home of one of the richest and smartest men in the world? Well, perhaps he has the ability to manipulate his density. You know, making himself intangible and what not.

» One Good Eye
After the death of Coulson, Nick Fury states that he "lost his one good eye." While this is clearly a play on words, being as Nick Fury wears an eye-patch, it could also be a reference to Coulson's codename: Vision. In the field, Agent Coulson would act as Fury's eyes allowing him to see anything and everything that Coulson sees firsthand. Get it? Vision? Eyes?

» Jim Hammond
The only thing that Agent Coulson ever showed the slightest bit of enthusiasm for was Captain America. Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch android, fought alongside Captain America on several occasions back in the '40s, according to comic book lore. he body of Jim Hammond is also the original synthezoid on which The Vision was based. It's a stretch, but that could serve as yet another clue that Coulson will come back in android form.

So what do you think? Do you think Marvel is making Coulson Vision or are these just coincidences and/or just theories? Sound off below!!!

I would like that as well. I also can see Coulson's face as the Vision, he has the right features.

Ha...thats scary cool.

avengerboy123 05-20-2012 11:57 AM

I had this idea also

trebleshot 05-21-2012 07:47 AM

It would be interesting. But it would skip the Ultron arc that led to Vision's creation. It would also potentially preclude Hank Pym's role in it as well (unless they re-worked his involvement).

From what I have been told, The "Ant-Man" movie has been green lit. With that being said there is plenty of things they could do. We don't even know if its Hank Pym, it could very well be Scott or Erik. Ultron for Avengers 3 anybody? Also, been hearing about a Guardians of the Galaxy movie being due in 2014? All myths and rumors so far BUT it would make sense making a GoTG movie.

True, the Ant Man of this universe may not turn out to be Hank. But if they are following the comic origin of Vision at all, then Hank would build Ultron, who would eventually turn on his creator. Then Ultron would build Vision, who would also turn on his creator. Then Ultron would build Jocosta, who would join Vision and turn on her creator as well.

(I sense...a pattern).

KingLouie731 05-21-2012 02:40 PM

They could base Vision's brain patterns on Coulson in the movieverse to avoid too many characters like wonder man

1andonly5711 05-21-2012 02:41 PM

turn on creator think they would fix that lol agent c nose is curved wouldnt vision look kinda like iron man in the face

snake5289 05-21-2012 03:02 PM

With Ant-Man officially being made I'm hoping at the end we see Hank (I'm hoping it's going to be Hank) working on Ultron's head or something therefore setting him up as the villain for Avengers 3.

I could see this happening, it isn't the first time they went outside the box with the Marvel movies.

mistershipwreck 06-22-2012 07:55 AM

Very interesting. I hadn't thought about it before. But, maybe...

Boba Fettuccini 06-23-2012 03:27 AM

I like the idea as something to bring Coulson back... but I just don't think the public would buy that at all. We might, but not the millions of non-Marvel-junkies that made Avengers the huge success it was.

Besides, Coulson is rumored to be a character in the Nick Fury movie, and it wouldn't really make sense to have Vision being involved with Nick Fury's origin.

I also hope the Ant Man movie is Pym. I also hope that they don't actually call the movie "Ant Man", because face it, that's a really lame sounding movie to ears of someone who doesn't know much about the character.

They'd definitely have to set it up right.

Wouldn't the Nick Fury movie pre-date all of these (well, except Captain America)? So Coulson could be around, even as an entry-level SHIELD agent. No continuity conflict. The events in Avengers wouldn't have happened yet.

It would if they just based his brain patterns on him ala Simon Williams

why not call it Tales to Astonish and they could do mini movies that are vaguely connected like Pulp Fiction and intro more 'lower tier' characters that they are concerned can't carry their own film

My point is that a Fury movie would take place in the past - I find it highly unlikely he'd be that far back as an android... I dunno. It just seems to me a lot of people who were really touched by Coulson's death, people who loved the guy, would feel really violated if he came back as a robot.
