Subscriptions acting weird.

Hi there,

So I've been noticing that when I initially check my subscriptions page, most of the ones I haven't read are black with a link to the new post, but if I check that page again later without visiting any of those threads (or even just one of them), half of the changes aren't there anymore! Is this a bug? How do I keep track of what I'm caught up on and what I'm not?

At 11:46 AM, after only viewing the 3.75" thread:

I believe the bolding is based on whether or not there are new posts in that thread since the last time you visited, regardless of whether you read the thread or not.

So if you come to the site, see new posts, don't read thread, leave, then come back later, and there are no new posts, it will stop being bolded as new.

In your second example, it implies there were new posts again, since you last visited.

That makes sense, but if the page reloads by say, using my browser's back button, I can't tell which ones I've visited recently and which have updated since the page reloaded.

How do I find the new posts to an individual thread since last time I visited that thread?

If the system believes there are new posts since your last visit, you can click the down arrow next to any thread title in the listing, that brings you to first new post. You may also click the "View First Unread" link under the "Post Reply" button at the top of any thread, once you click in to the full thread.

This is all cookie based, and is not exact at times. It is based on sessions I believe. So in order to trigger "new posts since last visit" your current session needs to expire, and then you come back. Sessions are generally 15 minutes.

If you are active in a session, and refreshing pages, it should automatically bold a thread title if new posts were made since you last refreshed. If you are in a thread, and refresh, it should also show you the "View First Unread" link under the "Post Reply" button, if there are any new posts.

Hope that helps.
