My Super Helicarrier was DOA

Hey all, need some advice.

Bought a Super Helicarrier at the HTS booth at Comic Con. Noticed there was a small dent in the SHIPPING BOX it came in when I bought it, but thought nothing of it. Got it home, and removed it from the shipping box. The toy's actual box is mangled, all over the place.

Is there anything I can do about this? I generally keep all my Marvel toys MISB.

shortysben 07-23-2012 03:05 PM

Close the box back up and act like you neer opened it, thus continuing to think the contents are misb...

Or buy a new one from hts.com...

Snailbot 07-23-2012 03:08 PM

If that happened to me, I would document it (pictures, maybe even video) then I would call Hasbro/HTS. I've read that HTS is owned by Hasbro and I've read that it's not. I would take my chances with HTS first because they have stock and (hopefully) knowledgeable people who can connect you with the right people. It's possible that when they see your pics of the damage, they'll do the right thing. What sucks beyond the fact that you have to deal with this is you may be paying shipping.

Black Dynomite 07-23-2012 03:10 PM

^ lol, your sig. I swear that's what my 5 year old said at the end when they were walking to Tony's car.

This about sums it up.
I haven't dealt with HTS before, but every store I've dealt with on things like this was happy to help to keep you as a valued customer.

Veronica Mars 07-23-2012 03:13 PM

HTS doesn't show a lot of love to their "valued" customers but it's worth a shot, the worst that can happen is they send you a politely worded form letter telling how sorry they are and how they wish they could help but can't

bmorr 07-23-2012 03:18 PM

customer service there is not exactly top notch. sucks about the helicarrier though man. It'll be miracle to get another carrier from them, but most likely youll just get a refund without having to return the product.

ksteve08 07-23-2012 03:20 PM

That wont work. The same thing happened with me last year with Compound Hulk and they said there was nothing they could do, I sent pics of the damage as well

no refund or anything? they just left you with "tough shit"?

scottmurdock 07-23-2012 03:30 PM

OR buy a new Helicarrier and sell your old pal scottmurdock Maria Hill for $10 to recoup your tax expenses. I kid.
Still worth a shot to send them pictures but ksteve08 hit it on the head. I had a similar issue and they basically told me to contact the post office. That sucks, dude. I'm a MOC guy too and I always fear this. Keep us posted on the happenings.

ksteve08 07-23-2012 03:32 PM

Thats basically what they said, and i ordered two and both were damaged so i was a little extra pissed

LOL.

well played

Trainwreck 07-23-2012 03:51 PM

To be honest this is my third run-in with HTS product sucking. The first time it was another SDCC toy from like 4 years ago. I stayed up late to hit F5 and got the toy I wanted on the website. The box came damaged and HTS sent me a second one, sight unseen, and I never had to send the first one back or anything. It was basically the most amazing customer service ever.

The second time the card on a Marvel Universe figure was all creased, but I just didn't bother them about it and lived with it.

Hoping this time is like my first time. (you are welcome to take that out of context).

hrothgars 07-23-2012 03:54 PM

I would take photos as mentioned and file a claim with the shipping company, as well. Something obviously went wrong here that shouldn't be your fault.

Who do you believe put the mangled box into the extra over-sized box? Hasblow or the shipper after it got damaged?

Snowflakian 07-23-2012 03:55 PM

If it works out and they send a new one since they still have stock, you could sell the old one loose.

Or I don't know say trade it to a fellow arker for a BAF sentinel...

Jason Abbadon 07-23-2012 04:42 PM

I'll happily trade you for that Maria Hill if you keep it.

1andonly5711 07-23-2012 04:50 PM

maria is worth 80$ alone if not more well you can contact hasbro and they will repace it for you

wolverine2281 07-23-2012 05:09 PM

HTS has always taken care of me when they screw up. Whether it was sending damaged packages (or the crappy way sometimes figures are sent) or missing figures, whatever. They replaced them for me and have given me free figures or credit before as well. Call em up. There's no reason you can't return it, shipping paid. And it's still up on HTS if you need to try again.

Mine was the same when I ordered it off the hts.com, took it out of the box and the actual shield box was dented, still haven't decided what to do either. If it wasn't so dang big I def. would call and ask for a new one and ship this one back...

HTS is owned by Hasbro. People who think its not have no reason for thinking that its not. I'm sure a lot of the employees are contracted, considering the warehouses and stuff are in different places. But the store was opened and is run by Hasbro corporate.

It's like how Bestbuy.com is a separate company (on paper) from Best Buy. There are complex reasons why businesses do this (such as taxes and isolation of assets) but that doesn't mean they aren't all under the same umbrella. Heck, most companies that do this keep everything in the same warehouses. Legally separate and actually separate are two different things.

BigHanksCustoms 07-23-2012 09:14 PM

I don't have the cash now, but I'd buy it off you for cost and shipping sometime down the road. Then you can buy another. I strangely feel compelled to buy one, jam it full of electronics, and paint it up. Hang it from the ceiling and have a display for my MegaBloks Minis.

Or just get another Black Widow figure and find a head that looks like Maria's.

Trainwreck 07-25-2012 02:19 PM

Response from Hasbro:

Quote:

Thank you for contacting Hasbro in regards to your Super Helicarrier. I will be happy to help you.

I am sorry to learn that the box for the product was not in the condition you would like.

Hasbro does not guarantee the packaging of a product, we only guarantee the product itself. It the item was damaged, then we would be happy to exchange the item for a replacement.

This was an exclusive item sold at Comic Con, unfortunately we could not be sure that the shipping box was not damaged in the transportation to the event. Again I do apologize that the box is damaged.

I am sorry that we can not replacement the item for you, as it is not damaged.
