Stupid restaurant rule
 

Well right at this very minute I am sitting in a restaurant that has a stupid rule. After 9 PM they have half price appetizers. Well I just found that you can't take home the leftovers unless you pay full price! So if I had 2 fries left over and they are half price, I have to leave them. And even if you say that you feel like leaving over it they don't care! So stupid. :rolleyes

If they are paid for, then you can take them.

So....pay the tab AND THEN ask for a to go box.

No fuss, no muss.

^ Seems like a reasonable solution. Although it is kind of strange that they have rules about leftovers like that. Usually you only see that in buffet/smorgasbord-type restaurants.

But what I'm really intrigued about is that they start their 1/2-price app deal at 9 PM. Most restaurants around here usually end their deals at 9 PM.

Happy hour around here are scarce. Very few places have them, and only then its just the one hour. My question is though is why have left overs anyway? Eat it all or order less, I say.

Nope. Starts at 9 pm, goes to around 1 am. It's so they have less food to throw out at the end of the day, I think.

Actually they always get a good tip, makes no difference. We Canadians are good tippers. :D

First order: a plate with 4 chicken quesadillas, 6 mozzarella sticks and 4 chicken wings. Half price makes it $10.99 (good deal, eh?) But then they have these excellent sweet potato fries. I couldn't leave without those, but the first order is so filling. Normally I eat all of it, but sometimes I can't. So next time I am going to wrap the extra fries in a napkin and stick it in my pocket. :D

... and then you know there'll be people who'll throw shit onto the floor/into the seats/etc to get around this rule, in which case nobody wins.

I could understand if they were doing it to get rid of leftovers from the night, but it seems odd to start cooking new food just to toss it out.

Just found it was the person at that location misusing the rules. The other location I went to said as long as you make an attempt to eat something you can take it home with you. They just don't want people buying a whole plate of food and leaving with all of it.
