LEGO Power Miners- New images & discussion

Two of the upcoming LEGO Power Miner sets have photos. As of yet, these sets appear to have no name....

This includes LEGO set #8957- a machine-type like robot.

These sets include a rock monster and the ability to combine with another set!

Those look pretty cool!! :)

I'm diggin that little rock monster!

sparkhunter 12-01-2008 08:24 PM

mmmmmm

Liking the rock monsters, and the other mini figures...... But I'm not so sure on the actual vehicles.

Might get them for the mini figures and sell of the vehicles.

My dwarve mine could use the monsters as guards

darthdoug 12-08-2008 08:09 PM

This set seems cool enough. However, I just passed it at Wal Mart!

SPLIT LIP 12-09-2008 06:41 AM

Not sold on the orange or green. One or the other would've been great, but together it's not very attractive. The drill and little mech look great, otherwise.

The mini rock dudes look awesome.

sparkhunter 12-10-2008 05:18 PM

If you go to lego.com there is a new power miner game there.

kind of fun

CryoPrime 12-10-2008 05:30 PM

They remind me of the Rockraiders from the 90's when I was little. I wonder why Lego keeps re-using general ideas for themes. If they should redo anything though, we should get some new Throwbots. That'd be sick. The little rock dudes are cool, weren't they in the last Brickmaster? I think I've seen them before.

They even a got a new Power Miners website as well! So I guess Lego is going to put these guys out soon.

Here's the link, it also gives some explanation on those rock monsters:
http://www.powerminers.lego.com

That link's not working for me, for some reason. This one does though.
LEGO.com Powerminers : Home

Personally, I wasn't big on the Rock Raiders or these Power Miners, but they look cool and the little monsters are a drastic improvement over the creatures from Rock Raiders.

Dude!!! Playing that rock monster game was hours of enjoyment!!! I loved it.

sparkhunter 12-18-2008 07:13 PM

Found power miner

I found all the new power miners at my local TRU in WI today.

I honestly wasn't very impressed after seeing them in person.

Iwill probably only get the rock monsters from ebay sellers. Or buy the sets my self and seller of the sets and keep only the minifgures and monsters.

omega ranger 12-18-2008 08:19 PM

I love those new lego dynamite pieces in the Power Miner sets. The little bars of dynamite all tied together with a string for igniting it, I just love and need that piece. I went to Wal-Mart today in search, but a snowstorm is coming in, so Toys R'Us and Target, where I knew they had them, I couldn't head out there.

sparkhunter 12-26-2008 09:23 PM

I bought the granite grinder today ( the one with the little sled)
It is actually really nice, the gas tanks are a nice touch, the little rock monster "rocks"
the green is NOT as bright and nastly as I thought it would be either. Also some of the stickers have texture to them, so you can actually feel the "mud" on them.

I think I might bet the drill machine latter this weekend, if i get back to TRU.

Chosen 12-31-2008 06:51 PM

The rock monsters are some of the best minifigures in the history of anything. Seriously! I dare you to pick one up and not fall in love at first sight.

As for me, I picked up the tiny robot to experiment with the line (and get Boulderax). I was annoyed by the inclusion of stickers instead of preapplied decals, but the machine number and the black/white muddy stripes were worth the effort to apply. The dumb circles, not so much.

The set itself isn't as intricate or armed to the teeth as, say, Exo-Force, but it does the job. Nothing wrong with the nerdy pilot either. It's been a long time since I've both a regular Lego set, last one being the Robo Raptor from 6+ years ago, but I think Power Miners "does it" just enough for me to come back for more.

I have to agree with your comment on Exo-Force's robots versus the Power Miners' robot. Exo-Force was one of the very first LEGO lines I liked until they canceled the line. So the fact Power Miners has a robot makes me very pleased!

power miners

I was looking at the crystal sweeper closely and noticed it has a deployable motorcycle that comes out of the back.

I hope we get a base type set and maybe a rock monster "cave"

sparkhunter 01-21-2009 12:07 PM

I was on TRU.com today and they have a new item for power miners, I called Lego and they couldn't even gove me any info on it. The set is number 8707 and called the boulder blaster.

below is the info from TRU it is listed as in stock and ready to ship.

Item: 3311013
Description: LEGO Power Miners: Boulder Blaster (8707)
Quantity: 1 @ $26.99

Chosen 01-21-2009 04:23 PM

It's a limited-edition TRU exclusive set, it seems. It also happens to look quite awesome and is getting rave reviews.

sparkhunter 01-21-2009 06:20 PM

Brickset: LEGO set reference | Search results: query 'power miners'

I got the claw digger today. I really like Power Miners.

sparkhunter 02-05-2009 03:03 PM

me like....... me like alot !

between power miners, castle, pirates and my daughters love for the new farm line my wallet is going to cry.

We are working on setting up a plywood table in the rec room for her. So far we have the fire station a horse farm/ riding school for her "lego world" I'm adding my brickhouse customs and other lego racers to it

Once it is all painted and pretty I'll post some pics.

Sounds really interesting! Hope your daughter loves it!
I was checking TRU today, it seems they have an ad (finally, after weeks since Christmas) for 25% on Power Miners, including their new exclusive Power Miner set, so maybe that will help your crying wallet. :)

SPLIT LIP 03-04-2009 02:29 PM

I have 4 PM sets now. This line is really great. If I ever get the money, I'm getting the Crystal Sweeper and Thunder Driller next.

SPLIT LIP 03-23-2009 05:24 PM

Aaaaand I got the quite awesome Thunder Driller.
