The Rage 09-24-2012 12:18 AM

Hot Toys are kind of my addiction besides MU and Transformers, so far I own:

Mark I 2.0 Iron Man
Mark V Iron Man
Mark VI Iron Man
Movie Promo Mark VI Iron Man
War Machine
Special Edition War Machine
1989 Batman
Superman: The Movie Superman
Spider-Man 3 Black Costume Spider-Man
Spider-Man 3 New Goblin
Thor Movie Odin
The Avengers Nick Fury

On order I have:

The Avengers Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, Loki, Black Widow, Hulk, Mark VII Iron Man
Terminator 2 T-800
X-Men 3 Wolverine

I have a problem I think lol

RKillian 09-24-2012 05:42 AM

I have around twenty 1:6 scale action figures (some retail, some collectible) but zero are from Hot Toys because their prices are batshit insane.

KshatriyaNZ666 09-24-2012 08:25 AM

Just one at the moment:

-Jill Valentine (Battle Suit ver.)

Coming in three days:

-Samurai Predator

On order:

-Marvel's The Avengers: Hawkeye (would've have had it already, but, alas for poor me, he's been delayed....)
-Marvel's The Avengers: Captain America
-Marvel's The Avengers: Black Widow
-Marvel's The Avengers: Iron Man -Mark VII-

Undecided:

-Marvel's The Avengers: Thor
-Marvel's The Avengers: Hulk (Gonna pre-order him this week)

Other 1:6 (1/6) scale figures:

Own:

-G.I. Joe: Black Dragon Ninja (Sideshow Exclusive)
-ThreeA Toys: AK Penumbra (kinda disappointed with this one to be honest)

On order:

G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes & Timber (Sideshow Exclusive)

My Holy Grail would be Hot Toys' Iron Man 2: War Machine though :(

You best bet to own this mold would be the Special Version:

http://i.imgur.com/J0hgA.jpg

The IM 2 version commands a price of like $500 now, but its the exact same mold, just with a more comic book accurate color scheme.

scottmurdock 09-24-2012 10:46 AM

Four, soon to be five (my wife is "hiding" an Indy Hot Toys-sized box in the attic):
TDK Joker
FA Captain America
Baby Doll
Superman

lanternjv37 09-24-2012 11:09 AM

lanternjv37 09-24-2012 11:09 AM

c2close 09-24-2012 11:36 AM

What do u think about the HT avengers Hulk? I hve it preordered but with the missing accessories/bases. I'm still 50/50 on getting him. Btw, i only have one HT which is the casual wear bruce lee. I hope HT can male a 1/6th scale Thing figure so i could have my display with the Hulk someday face-off.

Don't wait... check out glassman custom's page he has an upscaled Avenger's 3.75'' figure to fit 6'' ML scale!!! $10 unpainted, $20 painted, also has unmasked cap head to fit 6'' scale, and Robert Downey Jr Headsculpt scaled down from Hot Toys to fit ML, after I get my remaining deals done I will be buying these 3 and take my Avenger's display to the next level of awesome.

The prices are batshit crazy if you don't get on preorders or right at the initial release, as once they sell out the market value usually multiples very fast and can fetch some serious coin. On average they're less the $200 which if you can is a splurge on that "free" paycheck it's an investment in a high quality piece that's limited in production.

Now to answer the original question of the thread. I own 1. Mark III Battle Damaged edition, sells for $3-400 on ebay, got it for $100 cash, 2 futurama figures mib, and a 3a marine bramble figure, so roughly $100+ in trades. worked out for me, He's an awesome figure, currently he's in the box as I don't have the proper display environment for him.

In the future once my ML collection is full of my wants and the current lines, I will be trying to get an Avengers assembled of hot toys, but going to cost like 2 grand to do it lol so not in a rush lol.

RKillian 09-24-2012 12:59 PM

Well I don't want to derail this into an argument but even the starting prices these days are double and triple what was considered reasonable when I was actively collecting 1:6 scale stuff. If I was going to get back in I'd basically have to flip them or something. Fortunately they seem pretty fixated on Iron Man lately so there's nothing on the schedule that I want bad enough to do that.

The prices are high compaired to say Marvel Icons. But Sideshow 12'' figures, RAH,Medicom, 3A are all in the high $1-200 range/figure. It is pricey compairing owning 1 of those verses an entire wave of ML or 2 waves of MU. But IMO they look more impressive on display then the others. I do hear you on the price hence why I only have 1, lol. I would love to have Ironman Mark I, II,III, IV,V etc and the gauntlet display, then get the special sideshow display boxes ... but that's like $1500 worth of toys lol. Then add black widow, thor, cap, nick fury, loki, agent colson, red skull, hulk etc and u got another $1-2000, beautiful expensive toys! If there pricepoint was say $80 I'd be a whole lot happier, but they'd sell out even faster and resell prices would be the same lol.

you should see what stores over here charge for hot toys figures, they add about $200 extra onto the initial price.my buddy is a fiend for collecting these,i must remember to bring a camera with me,next time im at his place.im shocked at the money he blows on this line.

Too each their own. If you collect 1 specific hot toys line it's not as bad as collecting them all. Like batman only has about 5-6 figures, but factor in the batmobiles and you got $1000 right there lol. If we all had the $$ we'd have Hot toys collections. But most of us don't make that kind of $$. If you scrimp and save you can easily afford them. Myself if I quit smoking, and a few other luxuries I could afford 1/month. But that would eat a lot if not all my personal spending after bills are paid for.

I may try and get another 1-2, cap, thor would look nice next to my Ironman figure, same with hulk, widow, loki, fury, colson, etc damn $$

Yeah, Marvel Icons are in a completely different league. They're just upsized Marvel Legends where "clothing" usually means a cape or helmet. Not a bad deal for $20-$25 but today I wouldn't be surprised to see a price tag of at least $40 if not $50.

I was referring to Sideshow circa 2006-2008 though. That first run of Star Wars figures was around $60 at BBTS and the Indiana Jones figures were closer to $90. Can you believe that? Really, the odd one out is my Medicom Asuka that I purchased for the princely sum of $109 back in 2006. They reissued it for $180 in 2010 and now have a 3rd version on preorder for $220-$240.

It's just gotten out of hand and the low production numbers in turn make the aftermarket crazy. They very well could sell triple the figures at half the price.

Bubba304 09-25-2012 07:48 AM

i have only some of the 3' 3/4" snap kits figures but none of the 12" dolls and i plan to keep it that way...too expensive for me and at the end of the day IMO its a doll. don't get me wrong...very cool looking, great no amazing detail and whatnot but if I'm going to display something it will be a bust or a statue...if I'm going to set up some figures they will be figure height 3'3/4" scale or 6" scale with exceptions of galactus and the larger figures due to scale. but i don't care to own a 12"black widow so i can comb her hair hahaha

trebleshot 09-26-2012 04:29 AM

I don't own any Hot Toys/Sideshow figures, nor do I plan to in the near future. But if I ever do get one, it would probably be War Machine and/or Hulk.

Frankly, right now I'd rather use the money to finish building out my G1 TF collection and maybe finish off some other collections I've already started before I get into a new, expensive toy line.

scarecrow 09-26-2012 04:57 AM

I don't need my toys to look so real that I would spend $100+ on them.
