Ok, seriously, how many times do they have to make the same character???

Sideshow is likely just the distributor. Tamashii Nations is the manufacturer, and I think (though I may be incorrect) that this is the first C-3PO in the Perfect Model/Chogokin series. Some people collect just those series' and would be interested in a character that hasn't made its way to their line yet. Also, like any other fanbase, some collectors need to have as many versions of favorite characters as possible.

It will probably be an amazing toy, considering the "Perfect" qualifier. But it'll be cheaper to just hire Anthony Daniels for a week a la The Toy.

It is their 1st one and Tamashii claims it's the world's most accurate C3PO. Tamashii's initial images can be seen here:

ehhh...I would love to add this and r2d2 to the 1/6th collection, but I wouldn't love spending 350 on this guy when there are so many other Masterpiece Transformers, and Hot Toys coming in 2012 and 2013.

I'm not a droids guy, but I'll admit that looks like a quality product.
