G4 cancels X-Play and Attack of the Show!
 

Just tuned in to X-Play and Attack of the Show! and all the hosts are talking like they just got fired so I looked into it.

On October 26, 2012 it was announced that X-Play and Attack of the Show! would cease by the end of 2012.[34] This would end all of G4's studio programming, leaving it only airing acquired and syndicated programming. Reports of G4TV rebranding itself in 2013 into an upscale men's channel appeared previous to the recent programming changes.

Well I think that sucks. Reading a little more you find out why:

On January 5, 2012, Neal Tiles stepped down as CEO.He was replaced by former NBC marketing chief Adam Stotsky.
Long time employees Adam Sessler and Kevin Pereira left the network during the first half of 2012.

Looks like they saw it coming. I'm just so surprised the shows are ending. X-Play started in 1998. They will be missed. I home some other channel picks the shows up.

I agree... it is kinda like a mini-end to an era. I've been watching X-Play on G4 since... I think 2003 or 2004; X-Play had some of the best comedy skits on TV IMO. To be honest through I didn't really like Attack of the Show, not even when Olivia Munn was on it. Kevin Pereira is funny as he**, but I preferred it when that show use to be only about games and PCs and stuff.

In fact, I preferred G4 when it was all about games... they had the best shows like Electronic Playground, Judgement Day, Icons and Filter (which had that host I really liked, lol). Also... I really liked Morgan Webb too... her weekly presence I will definitely miss.

I remember the old TechTV days but back then we didn't have easy access to great content about video games video podcasts and Youtube. The truth it no one watches those shows anymore and their production value isn't that much higher than what can be found online whenever you like.. I know that G4 had been dropped by DirecTV and few others because they didn't want to push channels owned by competing companies. This was coming for over a year.

I loved AOTS. In fact I love it more now that they take more liberty with their jokes since they know they only have so many more shows left. Matt Mira has been a great alt host. I love him doing gadget pron and on The Nerdist. Of course Candace and Sara aren't bad either.

Yesterday the Celeb guest stripped and tucked for a mangina photo opp. They had to bleep and blur the screen for several seconds. It was hillarious. Even teleconferenced guests were making fun of the fact they are out of a job. I've been watching every day just to see how bad it gets.

Well I tuned into ATOTS today and they just replayed yesterdays episode instead of playing Fridays live episode the web site advertises. So instead of todays ATOTS I give you Pointless Deathsquad TV. Adam Perreria pod cast with Candice & Sara taped yesterday. They talk about the end of G4 and share embarrassing stories. It's long but worth it. Warning 18+
