Captain America - Down to 3
 

Three remain to play Cap: John Krasinski, Chance Crawford and Mike Vogel.

I've gotta say if John Krasinski gets it I will not see it and I might as well have tried out for the part if someone that far off gets it. When I see Cap I see someone like Daniel Craig, Gerard Butler or the guy in the lead of Spartacus (sorry no name off top of my head). Of the three I am hoping for Mike Vogel because he is the closest to a physical Cap of the three.

I have a strong love for John Krasinski BUT I do not think he exemplifies Steve Rogers. Grantid that I would see it because it was John Krasinski.

Hell, I'm more concerned that casting John Krasinski would interfere with his role on the Office than anything else. Really, after we found out Cap will sing and dance and half the movie is the Invaders, the Office took priority way over this set-up-for-a-reboot movie.

Seriously? None of those guys. It needs to be Matt Damon or Randy Orton. But if I have to choose 1 of them then I take John Krasinski.

seriously these are the top 3? i think the best choice would be vogel.

What the hell? John Krasinski made no sense to me when I heard the rumors, but neither of the other guys embody Rogers AT ALL either. The closest thing Vogel has to Cap is blonde hair. God, what are they doing? I'll reserve judgement, but come on, this is Captain America for God's sake.

Really though, if they had Randy Orton as Captain America the movie would fold.

what do you mean cap will sing and dance? and the invaders? I ahve not been keeping up with this.

Aw come on. Looks wise Orton fits the bill. All the poses and looks Orton does, Cap does as well.

And we all know they will probably go with the Ultimate Cap look instead of the Wings on his head.

I guess the pull for John Krasinski could be for the pre-serum Rogers?

Otherwise, this doesn't look good for the movie. Almost as bad as the rumors about Nick Cage being Superman (which thankfully never happened. Wrong for Cage and Supes).

NOOOOO my fave character ruined...ugh, this is truly dissapointing all around, but then again i knew thered be nothing good enough to actually be a live cap movie. im watching the OFFICE now and theres noway stick boy could be Cap, sorry hes a good actor and everything but THIS is CAP, he couldnt even be a b4 i dont think, hed have to look the same only bigger after.

Then again, most of this thread makes little sense with people acting as if they know what Krasinski's acting skills are for non comedic roles. If he's in the final 3 don't you think that maybe he had a good audition?

Of course people are suggesting wrestlers as if that would somehow make the movie more credible than it would be with Krasinski. That's laughable.

It is the same as Keaton as Batman. Keaton played an incredible Batman, but to any true comic fan he was not Batman. Bale was made for the role. Krasinski may be able to act the role, but physically come on. There are enough in shape actors that are able to act that look the part as well. Plus Krasinski and the director are friends via Emily Blunt.

John Krasinski has got to be a joke to through us off? I just don't see Capt America as being eastern-European.

I don't think people are questioning his acting skills (in any genre or style). I think they're questioning his look compared to what Steve Rogers has always been portrayed as in the comics.

If Krasinski is able to bulk up enough to appear as "the peak of human physical perfection" then good for him.

Wrestlers have the physique needed, but not necessarily the acting chops that would be required. So my hope is that a balance is found and we get someone who could be both.

Wow now. Lets all attack a guy because he suggested a wrestler. Out of those 3 I would take Krasinski. But Cap is supposed to be a Super Solider. The best physical body the Government can create. John is more of your average joe guy. That's the only reason I tossed up Ortons name. He's a big dude an looks like Cap. I see some people say Gerald Butler. Honestly he's not tall enough and he has a movie out every other week so that as well would take credibility away from Cap. Keep in mind whoever plays Cap, they will sign on for a 3 or 4 movie deal. This is all leading up for the avengers and if they cast to many big name people as heroes it will wind up like all of the X-Men movies. A lil off topic but has anyone else heard they the dude from the Hurt Locker has been cast as Hawkeye? Word on the street is that he will have a cameo in Thor.

IMO Matt Damon would be the best choice. Not to mention if he's Cap, he may be able to talk his sissy buddy into playing Dardevil again. Not that he was good. I just hate seeing people change roles and Jason Statham should play Iron Fist not Daredevil.

Little happier now that Krasinski is out. Evans is a good alt other than the whole was the Human Torch already.

I didn't get that. I think it was more about which wrestler you mentioned, rather than just mentioning one. And yes, he does look like Rogers, but from what I've seen of his mike skills, he could use some more acting classes.

And that's no knock on you - just Orton. Unless you're Orton incognito o.O

Totally agreed. Even the Matt Damon part. Statham would make a great Iron Fist, too, though he will do just as well in the DD role.

Maybe they think that the FF franchise is done for a while and will be recast when they reboot?

The choices are starting to get smaller now, can't wait to see who the final will be.

I thought 'Awesome' from chuck was in the running though?

I remember reading he and one of the supernatural guys were both trying, but never heard if they got cut. I gotta say though, the guy who plays Awesome in chuck (Ryan McPartlin), would be the perfect cap choice imho.
He's got the physique, he's got the hair, and eyes, he's got the youth, and even the voice. All that's questionable is his acting for the portrayal.

Seems the other issue is it's a 9 picture deal with low paychecks. So most big name stars will balk at that.
Big name actors are only an issue if they don't look the part. Even X-Men casting wasn't bad... It was the piss poor rushed scripts that messed that up. Which at the time anyway though, the only real big names were halle berry, patrick stewart, and famke jansen. That movie gave Hugh jackman, and anna paquin their starts. (I won't bother defending X-Men 3 as it just blows anyway)

I still don't remember reading when Ryan McPartlin or Jensen Ackles got cut. They were both in the running a long while back.

I've read this forum a couple of times and have thought about who'd I wanna see portray good ole Cap

I'm gonna have to go with new blood. I think an unknown actor would be the best option. It's the whole Tom Hanks/Da Vinci code thing.

Find an actor who IS cap. Not somebody who can ACT like him. We got lucky that Robert Downey Jr can really portray Stark very well.

Also remember that RDJ and Cap will have to interact together for The Avengers movie (and possibly a Civil War movie, because why not? All this setup to make only one gigantic movie? whats one more ha)

Also who do you think will placy Bucky? With our luck it will be Shia Lebeif :( :(
