Young Justice and GLTAS Canceled!

Newsarama.com : YOUNG JUSTICE, GL: TAS Officially Canceled, CLONE WARS Moves?

After CN's stunt of bumping them all over the schedule and then not advertising the return heavy enough alongside DVRs not picking it up because of them marking it as repeats because of the sudden switch manufactured a ratings drop to create a reason to cancel them.

Clone wars will be moving to Disney XD.

Yes, he does. But he's never been a fan of TF Prime anyway. Which is fine - it's his opinion.

Agreed.

Well, for one, Prime is on a different network. Two, based on what Snow said, it looks like the fix was in. So I'd be more interested on who's pulling the strings and why did they have it out for those two DC shows.

But I definitely agree that Regular Show sucks and should go away. I also think Adventure Time and Gravity Falls are shit as well, but I seem to be in the minority on those. It's just that I got my fill of shows based around a pair of morons in the 90's.

Green Lantern wasn't perfect but had potential for bigger things. They haven't even introduced the sinistro corps yet. But not surprising, with no toy line as support why would CN want to keep a show going beyond 2 seasons?

YJ I suspected being cancelled after the overlong breaks that blighted new Thundercats

I know Prime is on a different network.
It just irritates me it meanders on it's boring way while GI Joe Renegades (Which featured character developement and plot, two things Prime sorily lacks) got hatcheted.

And I'm with you on Adventure time and Gravity Falls (Which is just Disney trying to cash on CN's success with their Adventure/Regular rubbish). But the last time I ever said anything remotely negative about Adventuretime, I got hounded pretty badly.

Well, you and I are well aware that our opinions on Prime are quite different, so I won't bother rehashing those conversations again here. But for Arkers who do want to discussion the pros and cons of Transformers Prime, I will happily join in, if someone wants to start a new thread for it.

As for Renegades, part of the reason the show was not renewed (it was never actually cancelled), is that the lead designer passed away while season one was still airing. I imagine Hasbro would have done something similar had Derrick J. Wyatt passed away before season one of TFA finished airing.

Same thing happened to me, which is why I tend to keep quiet when discussion of it sparks up.

Yeah, Adventure Time is great silly fun but you have to take it a certain way. Definitely great for kids.

Haven't seen more than the first episode of Green Lantern but Young Justice is a great show and I think it could have ran for a long time if handled properly. I wonder if we'll be seeing more from DC with that great visual style.

Does anyone think that if the toys had sold better it would still be on the air? It's always about money in some way.

Was Thundercats (failed toys too) ever offically canceled? I thought it was officially on hiatus and just hadn't been ordered for a new season. All the stuff I read was that maybe it would come back. There is just too much scripted TV out there these days for every show to get a good following. So many quality shows can't find big audiences anymore. I know I don't have nearly enough time for all the shows that are worth watching.

I can't say for certain, but it didn't help matters. CN only gets revenue from the show and the ad space on the toy packaging, so the toys would have helped promote the show more. Since the toy line basically failed at retail, there was no other support for the show to get ratings up. That and CN's history of playing shell games with shows they don't own or co-own.

I think Bandai of America made it official, but it may have come directly from CN, too. Memory's a bit fuzzy on it, but I believe our sister site, Thundercats.ws, reported on it last summer or fall.

Iceman 02-04-2013 08:17 PM

Thundercats had potential but they went too young with the focus. If they had kept a faster pace and darker tone after the premiere it could have been amazing. Maybe they'll do a movie to finish it off.

Cartoon Network will always have spot in my heart for things like Toonami back in the day but they definitely don't know how to manage good shows. Same for Sci-Fi (or whatever they want to be called now). I think a lot of the rep CN built up was mostly dumb luck. Things like Toonami and Adult Swim bought up shows from Japan for cheap because the market hadn't really developed here. They got cred from fans for bringing great stuff over and made easy money doing it. Their original shows have rarely been good, exception for things like 'Samurai Jack', and ones that are good usually don't last long or go through huge delays to keep costs down.

Totally agree with you there, along with the last Avengers cartoon and now this sigh....

Ya the replacement for those shows suck. I'll probably start catching up with the latest TMNT when these are gone and Prime is the only good toon on.
