It's officially official. Variety is reporting that Chris Evans has accepted the role of Captain America.

You can read in more detail here.

He will star in at least three "Captain America" movies, as well as "The Avengers".

I'm happy.

And since it seems the FF franchise is on the back-burner for the foreseeable future, so no cross-contamination with Chris as Johnny Storm.

Should be OK, if he puts on some more muscle.

LOL, well let's hope the FF don't make an appearance in "Avengers".

hmmm yeah, thats kinda odd, and i mean Cap is THE ROLE they need to get down IMO, he is THE AVENGER, but also my fave character, so i hope this guy steps up his acting and weight lifting.

Yeah, He was my fav from the FF movies. It's a shame they scrapped that franchise instead of doing something good with it. I can see him as Cap though. But he def needs to bulk up for when he gets his costume on. 9 picture deal isn't to shabby though.

Awesome. I already mentioned before that I love Chris Evans, so this is fantastic.

If anyone wants proof that Chris Evans can pay more than just the douchey funny man, watch Sunshine. He steps it up in that movie, and is easily the best character(this is coming from a Cillian Murphy fanboy).

I'm very interested to see how they handle the costumes in this. I've read a lot about what they have planned but I just want to actually see some official production images. Same for Thor. Speaking of Thor, aren't Captain America and Thor coming out the same year? Thor's already filming. Feels like Cap is being rushed.

Another bit of awesome casting news for the Captain America movie. So far we know that Chris Evans is playing Cap and Sebastian Stan is playing Bucky. They have also recently officially confirmed Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, he was "in talks" to play the character up until last week. It it also now confirmed that actor Toby Jones will be playing the part of Arnim Zola! I never expected him to be in the movie but I'm so glad that he is. I think that this is an excellent casting decision and I can't wait to see what they do with the character. I really hope he appears as he does in the comic.

Also of interest, this could lead to the first Arnim Zola figure! If Hasbro continues their trend of releasing both Movie and Comic series of characters then Zola could very well be included in at least the comic series. I've seen some great customs of Zola but I don't think there has ever been an official figure. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I would love to see one.

Can't wait.

...And speaking of which. I can see all the Capt. figures going up in price realllll soon, which means Imma gona hafta do some MAJOR overtime!!!

So far the casting call has been a good one, I'm still IFI about the writers though, I mean Narnia is one thing but Capt.!? Complete different thing and no, despite that Narnia did pretty well does not mean that Capt. will fare in the same way.

I do hope that Disney has the common decency of not Fing up the upcoming MARVEL flicks like WB did with Batman 3 trough that GAWD AWFULL last one.....I mean seriously, NIPPLES?! and making it seem like it was the ol' 60s show, I was upset that they didn't add the "POW" "ZING" "CRASSSSSSH" and s___t on that film....geeeesh!?

theyre already exspensive, i think Cap is due for a major figure update right about now, im sure there'll be some for the movie but i mean a good 6" one would be nice

Some new images are floating around the web of Chris Evans in Captain America uniform. They have NOT been confirmed as official but they still look great. If this is indeed the direction that they are going than I am more than happy with the look. One things for sure: it would make a great figure!

Those are photoshops or digital renderings of Evans in the suit. I like them but they aren't actual photos of him wearing the suit.

They are obviously renderings. The question was not about if they were real photographs but if they were valid pre-production images.

Well I'm glad you cleared that up. You never know what people fall for. Specifically with Craigslist photoshops. Oh man that can suck.
