Nick's TMNT April and Kraang Discontinued?
I took a peak inside of a full case of figures the other day and noticed that April and Kraang were not in it. I'm wondering if these two figures have already been discontinued to make way for the newer figures - The Mutagen Ooze ones.
Are any of you seeing a different case assortment out there that has April and Kraang in it with the Mutagen Ooze figures? |
New case assortments won't always contain all of the first wave figures.
|
Also, they're shelfwarming.

They'll swap them back in later and take something else out instead. It's the nature of the beast. |

There's none in my area and I still need an April. Ah well, she's low on my list anyway, I have way too much other stuff to worry about finding $$$ for at the moment. |
Unless you're in a really low-traffic area, there are no TMNT shelfwarmers. Shyte flies off the shelves too fast.

For real. I would love to find these shelf warming somewhere. I have been to three stores today, and have not found any. |
April and Krang peg warm at my TRU, walmart they sell well, have seen wave 3 there with metalhead, got myself a fishface, but never seen dogpound. I would grab snakeweed and some of the figures such as the mouser set and updated Shredder. Also the pizza box playsets look nice.

I am sure they will be back. They wont discontinue a figure they made 9 months ago. If it was Hasbro I would say your shit out of luck.

Just for reference, for anyone who might be curious:

TMNT is the ONLY toyline that is not only selling well, they're constantly cleared out. I haven't seen a toyline perform like this for years. |
According to BBTS, in the Wave 1 assortments April was shortpacked at 1 per case. Also, depending on which revision a particular store got, either the Foot Soldier or Kraang was 1 per case while the other one was 2 per case (i.e. 2x Kraang and 1x Foot OR 1x Kraang and 2x Foot).
For Wave 2 cases, April and Kraang are not included in the assortment and Foot Soldier is only 1 per case. Fishface and Dogpound are also 1 per case for Wave 2. |
Everyone come to Oregon. You will know the meaning of shelf-warming. I wasn't aware these were actually popular at all, save the four turtles.

Amazon UK has them in stock in case anyone is looking for em :)

I picked up April & Kraang early on, I have not seen an April in the wild for a while...I do still see The Kraang from time to time but it seems they are either being picked first for army building or are indeed short packed now...The same goes for Foot Solidiers here in the Mid-Maryland-Southern PA areas near me...

I think one of the tragedies of the original toyline, and one that Playmates would be best not to repeat, was the lack of Footsoldiers.
They didn't have to keep foot on the shelves constantly, but as often as the turtles and shredder got new toys, they would have done well to have produced a few more. (I always wanted to see them in different colors, like the arcade games). So, hopefully this line will make different Footsoldiers. |
The original line had a few allies that had different variants like Rock 'n' Roll Mondo Gecko and several different Aprils (Usagi doesn't count because Space Usagi's actually his descendent). However, the 2003 series only had a handful of Splinters. No variations outside of Shredder, Foot Ninja, one Baxter, and one Turtlebot for the villains, if I remember right, either. I hope this series is a little better at it.

I completely forgot about that Mondo Gecko!
And to be honest, I still don't remember the figure itself, but I do remember that scooter guitar. For the original toyline, I think Krang and Shredder are the only ones that got true multiple toys. Though the foot soldier did get one vac metallized release. (Not counting movie toys, which I sorta look at as a different line) Krang got three. The original release, the giant robot that his original toy could fit in, and a more normal sized release of his robot body, near the end of the line. No idea how many Shredder got. Splinter got a few, I believe. I know April got the most outside of the turtles. With hindsite, it's amazing that as prominant as they were in the cartoon, Rocksteady and Bebop only got the original release. I don't even think they got repainted and re-released like Shredder did in the toon line, or the vac-metallized footsoldier. |

A few other classic villains got like one variant a piece. Tokka and Rahzar each got a Mutations figure. Triceraton had a Shogun release. Warrior Chrome Dome also came out (he's blue instead of silver). |
I fondly remember my old TMNT figures...... and how addicting they were. If these pick up in popularity I hope the line stays strong for years. Anyway, I'm not a fan at this point (I like that they are for sale to imaginative kids, but as a collector I won't but them). Regardless, their popularity is amusing to me, it reminds me of when I was a little dude and would see the giant TMNT display at my local TRU store. This might be the one line that finally primarily goes to children. Kids for the win!
