2. Can we get a list of confirmed (official) running changes/variants up to wave 2 2010? Pictures have turned up online of a darker Daredevil, a Blonde Black Widow, Warpath in red + blue, Wolverine(with a corrected head), phasing Vision, and a white shirt Luke Cage.

Answer: Part of the fun of running changes are the elements of surprise. We will inform the community more of the variants to come, along with past variants. We are looking at various ways to list/announce these figure variants.
They really couldn't even confirm the existence of a variant of a figure from the first wave?

Quote:

1. In a previous Q+A, it was stated that the next wave of Mighty Muggs should be expected this year. There's been some confusion as to their avenue of release. Are all Mighty Muggs now exclusive to Toys R Us? Are all Mighty Muggs considered to be one series, exclusive to TRU, and released in themed waves (GIJoe/Transformers/StarWars/Marvel) or can we expect to see multiple themes released at or near the same time?

Answer: We realize that there are still Marvel Mighty Muggs that have yet to be released. We are working on the final plan for those figures and hope to have some news for you later this year.
Hope so. Mighty Muggs are awesome and I want them to start producing more.

MarvelousNews: Is the classic Iron Man in the upcoming Target exclusive 2 Pack with Black Panther a reissue of the previous MU version or is it the version from the Iron Man 2 line, and are the Punisher and Black Panther figures that come in the packs using the Daredevil body?

Hasbro: We are always looking to update our body selections. Black Panther and Punisher are new versions. Black Panther now has his cape! Punisher is based on Punisher War Journal style.

Editors Note: We couldn't help but notice Hasbro didn't actually answer our question here. They said they are always looking to update their body selections, but nothing about if they actually did on these figures. Instead they pointed out a couple differences that have nothing to do with the actual sculpts, like the Black Panther now having a cape and Punisher having different paint apps to reflect his appearance in Punisher War Journal.
The editor's note was a little unnecessary because they basically did answer the question. We already know that both the Punisher and Daredevil bodies are retired so yes, the Punisher and Black Panther figures in the two pack are brand new figures.

And as far as the original question goes, Iron Man is obviously a reissue of the MU line version because the IM2 line uses ball joints. They won't randomly throw that in there.

Kastor: Can you give us an idea when the following figure will be available at retail? What waves will we see these mixed in with?
  • Wave 6 phasing Vision
  • Warpath in blue and red deco
  • Black Widow hair changes
  • Silver deco change to Luke Cage with white shirt
Marvel Team: Keep your eyes peeled, you just never know when/where these figures will show up!
Good lord, why can't they answer such a simple question?

Quote:

1) We are very excited about this year's upcoming Marvel Universe releases, especially Galactus. Will the Galactus figure have a Try-Me option on the packaging and when will it be released?

The Galactus figure will have a try me feature. Look for it at retail late fall.
Figures.com wasted their questions this time around. We already knew it had a try me feature. They told us that at Toy Fair.

Quote:

2) We couldn't help but notice the 'Avengers Assemble' sticker on the side of the Iron Man 2 figure packages. Does this Easter Egg somehow tie in to the upcoming Avengers film?

Hasbro loves Easter Eggs! And just like Nick Fury says in Iron Man 1, he's building a team!
Yeah, definitely wasted their questions. Come on, it was very obvious that's what the 'Avengers Assemble' thing was for.

Quote:

3) Will the upcoming comic packs focus more on a 'one-shot' comic appearance like the Star Wars comic packs or will it continue in the tradition of the Secret Wars packs?

Quote:
The new comic packs will feature some of Marvel's greatest battles. Be on the look out for new comic packs soon!
And this we knew too: that the next wave of Comic Packs were individual books.

All in all, a lame batch of questions. It's understandable that Hasbro can't give concrete answers for some things, like when Legends figures will be out (they simply don't know). But not being able to at least confirm or deny that a dark Daredevil exits at this point is kind of silly.

What a waste of public relations! Totally embarrassing!! Why do they bother, these q&a's are insulting!!!!!

Here's another batch of answers:

Marvel Q&A 3/30/10 | The Rumor Buster

Quote:

1) Are there any plans for offering Marvel Universe troop builder packs on Hasbro Toy Shop like are offered for Star Wars (with Stormtroopers & such) and G.I. Joe (with Cobra henchmen) where it’s a pack of multiple copies of the same figure?
Currently, we have no plans for offering Marvel Universe troop builder
packs, but we are always looking for new ways to innovate and captivate!

2) Does the old idea that female figures don’t sell well still apply. leading to limitations being set on the number of females per year? We’ve gotten a fair share of females in both the Super Hero Squad and Marvel Universe lines, but there are so many more to be done. Also, do differing demographics (i.e. SHS being for the younger crowd) change the ratio on how many females are done?
It’s always tough to target female characters at our younger consumer.
However, we recognize their value to our collectors. Therefore, we try to choose the popular, more appealing females. While there are MANY cool females yet to be created, we have to remain wise regarding our
selections.

3) Will the SHS line continue to cover all of the Marvel Universe in general or will it be more oriented around the show and its cast?
The show has a pretty deep selection of characters. The toyline itself
allows us to go deeper into the Marvel catalogue. Expect NEW cool figures to come!

des hasbro ever actually answer the Q&A questions?

DarthDre758 03-30-2010 02:53 PM

Banthaskull.com's Q&A.

Snowflakian 03-30-2010 02:54 PM

Some things they can answer, some things they can't. We need to cut them some slack and give them some fun 'what was the process like' questions.

Things like how do they select characters, the inspiration behind galactus, and so on.
Cause that troop builder pack question alone has been asked to death.

Infinity gauntlet comic packs would be interesting. Hopefully we'll get some cosmic single packs around then. (*cough* darkhawk and nova, *Cough*)

They key thing to remember, if they are going by the same guidelines for the GI Joe Q/A 2010 which I am sure they are, is that the design team can't answer questions pertaining to future media tie ins, future releases, et al. They an answer questions on design choices and such but most of the stuff we want to know can't be answered.

They should be able to answer questions about which past releases have actually been released though, right?

While it is "fun" to discover them on the pegs, it is also very frustrating for collectors who are "all in" to not know they are coming, because now the collection is no longer complete. Such fans may consider dropping the line because we must have them all.

Can you give us a full list of all the running changes/variants that were in 2009, and better yet, give us a hint at some that are coming? This would really go a long way to help collectors plan their budgets accordingly.

Hasbro:
We are always thinking of new ways to broaden the scope of Marvel Universe. And we like to cater to collectors young and old. This is a great idea for us to explore in the future. Thanks!

It doesn't help that I've been asking for the list for awhile, either. ;)

I can't blame hasbro on these answers, a lot of people broke the Q and A question guidelines.

Did Toyark get there questions in?
