GI Joe vs Alien - Revoltech Alien review

Got this from the mailman today. #1 in Kaiyodo's new Revoltech line based on sci-fi films. As you can see, the box packaging for this Alien toy is superb. If there is one thing to say about the Japanese, is that they know how to package a toy.

Out of box, it's even better. The toy is fantastic. Full on articulation in the head, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, torso, hips, knees, and ankles. The tail itself has no revoltech joints, but it has a wire inside so you can bend it however you like. The only downside to this is that the tail is required to stand. It's very hard to balance without the tail touching the ground in some way. The stand itself doesn't do much. The facehugger attaches to the egg, but it can come apart.

The paint application is amazing. The top of the head is a dark, but clear plastic where you can see the skull details. This comes off.

Really, a perfect figure. Amazing quality. Now for some fun.

GI Joe vs Alien:

WATCH OUT SCARLETT!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k176/politik1/9-1.jpg

Oh damn, she got caught! The face hugger succeeds where many Joes have failed: Scarlett is impregnated.

Here you can see the difference in size. Not bad, but I figure the Alien is a little too big to fit in with 3.75" scale. Still, it's pretty good. *** I've been told the scale seems right, considering what they're like in the movies ***

The mouth can open to reveal the smaller, second mouth that shoots out. Again, awesome detail. Mmm... brains.

Snake Eyes to the rescue!

The Joes are victorious. YO JOE!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k176/politik1/14.jpg

Once again, the paint is very detailed.

Final comparison pic standing up straight.

All in all, probably the best Revoltech figure ever made, IMO. I can't wait for Batman later this year!

*** The figure is translucent if you place it up to the light. Sorry, no picture, but it's really cool! ***

Mine was in the mail monday and i love it, the next revoltech im getting is Jack Skellington .:( Im so tempted to get the Revoltech Godzilla monsters

pud333 04-13-2010 08:50 PM

Me too. They all look so good. Including Batman, Alien Queen, Predator (of course), even the Jurassic Park T-Rex.

TheSymbiote 04-13-2010 08:54 PM

Do you have pics of the alien queen or predator

pud333 04-13-2010 08:57 PM

Here ya go.

New Revoltech Including Toy Story, Batman, Aliens And More

TheSymbiote 04-13-2010 11:32 PM

how big is the queen compared to the regular alien

tomagnus 04-14-2010 05:58 AM

wasn't too sure about this one at first. Now it looks like I might have to get this Alien revoltech. it looks really cool. thanks for the pics.. my pockets are not deep enough for all the new swag hitting the shelves these days. ugh..

T16skyhopp 04-14-2010 06:26 AM

damn i want that. revoltech $ add up quick though. holding out for Trex.

pud333 04-14-2010 06:51 AM

Yeah, the new Revoltechs cost more these days than the older ones. I'd like a couple more Aliens, but it's not possible due to all the other toys I want to buy. Stupid budget!

Don't know how big the Queen is. We'll have to wait for better pics later I guess. Considering how tall the regular Alien is, the Queen would have to be huge! Generally Revoltechs don't get much bigger than 6 inches (I think Fraulein Revoltechs are a tad bigger?), so I don't know if she'll be in scale.

mattwrightkitty 04-14-2010 08:39 AM

I want this for my Big Millennium Falcon!

Big_Truk_Convoy 04-14-2010 04:04 PM

such an awesome figure, I might have to break down and get it.....but if I do that then I will have to get the Queen and the predator. That's a big commitment ;)

pud333 04-14-2010 06:11 PM

Yeah, it's a slippery slope. You get one, then you're committed!

Thanks mods for front paging this!
