Square Enix Reveals Play Arts Kai DC Comics Variant Figures

Digging Batman and Wonder Woman. Not Green Lantern so much. Not sure how deep I want to go into this scale. Right now all the SEPA I have are from video games and are contained. But, with the Man of Steel Zod, and these, might get sucked in.

protostar8 04-25-2013 09:57 AM

Batman and Wonder Woman rock! Green Lantern is very meh. I really don't like his upper legs and waist. They throw off the whole look of the figure.

Colder Soldier 04-25-2013 10:30 AM

That WW will be my first non-Metal Gear PAK.

Nemesis*Prime 04-25-2013 11:07 AM

These are very cool, even GL. Can't wait to see Flash and Batgirl.

Phantomcrow 04-25-2013 11:15 AM

I really like the armored look these have, I kinda wish WW had more but she still looks great.

firmpulse 04-25-2013 11:37 AM

LOVE that gl

StaticShin27 04-25-2013 12:07 PM

I think the thing that bothers me about GL is it looks less like body armour and more like a mech suit, particularly from the waist down.

Crazy Jetty 04-25-2013 12:21 PM

Batman has the best balance of all three of them. It's the best looking design. That said, it's too animu for me. I really don't like it.

Green Lantern, I agree with the "too mech suit" comments. Though... that could have been a really awesome direction had they gone even MORE in that direction, and made the "mech" parts out of translucent green plastic... make the mech suit aspect out of construct, while keeping the black parts looking more like body armor.

Wonderwoman, for some reason I actually like her. Though, with this over all design she really needed black pants on her upper legs. I think she'd have been a lot more striking.

But, now we know what a DCU/Final Fantasy crossover would look like. (I think if they did a straight DCU game, the game designers would stick closer to the actual iconic costume designs)

bigkid24 04-25-2013 02:27 PM

WW is definitely the best of those three. So these are the variants? I need to see what the regular ones look like then.

I don't think these are variants, I think they are just Anime inspired takes on DC heroes (like what PAK did with the first master chief they released)

The wonder Woman is head and shoulders above the rest

Shadowknight1 04-25-2013 03:44 PM

Love Batman and Wonder Woman. Now to just see Batgirl painted, I hope.

jwmagick 04-25-2013 05:02 PM

Batman looks six ways of awesome. But that Green Lantern head looks like a girl. Is this one supposed to be a girl?

Dark Hayabusa 04-25-2013 05:53 PM

If the final release of Wonder Woman has that same paint job on the skin, then she's a must buy

Paxtin 04-25-2013 09:31 PM

GL really doesn't look all that much like a girl to me. A pretty boy, maybe. But a girl, I'm just not seeing.
He does feel like the weakest of the group. That said, I still think he looks kinda neat.

If I were to get one though, it would be Batman. That design is just badass.

I'm considering backing out of PAK collecting. SE is still using those fragile pec/shoulder/chest pivots(made out of soft plastic, why, I don't know), and their sporadic qc problems haven't really improved. They have a monopoly at the 8-10" scale for video game figures and they continue because there's no competition for them.

If another company was willing to have just as detailed sculpts with up to par if not more articulation and the intriciate paint apps as well as way higher quality plastic, I would probably ditch PAKs altogether.

Thing is the only other things close to these are D-Arts(much smaller, nowhere near as detailed paint apps), and Revoltechs(another PVC based line with the same type of qc problems, smaller scale).

I love the artistic interpretation of Batman, looks awesome, Green Lantern in this line has always looked weird, Wonder Woman is okay.

What's with folks trying to clothe this awesomely hot WW. Lol. Seriously though, I think she's the perfect mix of classic and Japaneezy.

Patient X 04-27-2013 07:16 AM

Are these from the Injustice video game? I really like the Wonder Woman...Batman not so much and Green Lantern not at all.

No, they're not. These seem to be purely Square Enix interpretations of the designs. And I agree with you on Wonder Woman and GL, but I do like Batman as well. Can't wait to see Batgirl colored.

Trainwreck 04-27-2013 01:21 PM

When did Green Lantern become a woman?

FadeToBlackBolt 04-28-2013 04:21 AM

That Batman is the greatest action figure design I've ever seen. It's like Batman fused with Vampire Hunter D. I could not love it more.

Wonder Woman is cool too. GL is kinda goofy though.

Oh yeah I'm all over WW, but I might wait to see if Diamond will carry them so they'll be cheaper.
