MattyCollector Ecto-1 and Sub Updates
|
Cue fans complaining about scare tactics, etc... in 3, 2, 1....
|
If Mattel really wants the subscriptions to go through, they need to reveal more of what will be included in the subscriptions. Toyguru always comes back with there will be no excitement if everything is revealed or they can't reveal everything if something has to be changed. However, my argument would be there is excitement at different levels of a reveal:
1) Figure's name is revealed 2) Figure's prototype/2-up is shown 3) Final packaged figure is shown 4) Figure is reviewed (esp Pixel Dan's reviews) 5) Figure is received by customer If subscriptions are so close to not going through, why not reveal what will be released if it will help sell more subscriptions? Fun Publications does a great job of revealing the figures in their subscriptions for Joes and Transformers. Mattel could learn something from them in this case. |
I wish they would name drop more. possible names, and show us just how many subscriptions it takes and how many we are away from. I am thinking of buying a second sub already to make some extra money, but I think more people would be interested in maybe getting a second sub too if they saw the numbers were close.

If they made these figures in 1:18th I'd be all over them. they look fantastic. wrong size.

If only it weren't so damn expensive. I always get priced out of these things because of Matty's elitist subscriptions. If there were an Ecto-1 made available to me, with an installment plan to offset the large cost, I'd be all over it. They should at least look into something like Sideshow's FlexPay for us poor folks. We like toys too, you know.

You don't even realize what a legal nightmare that would be, do you? Mattel isn't even fully sure what the other figures will be yet. WB could decide to make Mattel pull a figure, tooling costs could make one not viable in 2014, just to name a couple. Look at the fiasco they caused with Damian, and that was supposed to be a retail figure. They are not going to risk something like that happening with the subs. It makes perfect sense. |

1. All Mattel has to do is state, "Subject to Change" just like every OTHER company does.
2. I thought it took them two years to get a figure from concept to sculpt to final figure. How the hell do they not have any other figures beyond April tooled? That contradicts everything they have been telling us for years now. 3. I don't care about this bs. If the subs don't make it and the lines end, so be it. Mattel has had plenty of time to give us these characters (especially an oversized Dooomsday) but decided to jerk around with crap like Injustice versions, concept MOTU character, prototype characters, rainbow lanterns repaints, etc. 4. They have done nothing to Digital River. They have not held them accountable for anything and has not even formally apologized to their buyers for Digital River. |
