I think these look pretty bad ass.

snake5289 11-04-2013 06:59 PM

Yeah I'm getting one. I'll have to paint that hand or something though.

Right? Not too bad, they'll make for some good display pieces, once in hand I'll know what their play value is.

snake5289 11-04-2013 07:10 PM

It looks like a great update of the orininal. The all black look is just visually boring IMO.

Joe Moore 11-04-2013 08:05 PM

Thanks for the heads up. :) Posted and credited. If you want to look at all the pics in one spot, check it out at the link below.

Jada Toys Officially Unveils Robocop Figures - The Toyark - News

Straker 11-04-2013 09:22 PM

Yeah the silver and black figure looks great and very Robocop to me...minus that human HAND thing which some black paint will fix but the solid black painted figure is very boring to me. I may get a 6 inch silver and black Robo and maybe a 4 inch figure but that's about it.

Snowflakian 11-05-2013 03:59 AM

I'll definitely be getting the 4inch Robocop figures. They'll look nice alongside Movie GI Joes and SHIELD.

Definitely going to repaint that hand though too. It just looks wrong still. I really don't get why they didn't at least give him a glove he could remove. It'd add more to the dramatic effect of shaking hands of bystanders etc as the pulling off the glove would evoke that "I'm human underneath all this" even if it's just an illusion.

Shin Densetsu 11-05-2013 04:42 AM

I need to see these posed to the extent of their abilities, that's the make or break for me. The 6" figure sounds underwhelming. Just that much articulation?

Joe Moore 11-05-2013 06:15 AM

I don't mind that though. If I want a super articulated version, there will be plenty of alternatives (Play Arts Kai, Super Alloy, etc.). But for, what is likely to be, a much more affordable figure, this one looks pretty solid. Especially for a company that doesn't seem to have many previous action figure releases.

BEAM 11-05-2013 09:30 AM

I'm down for the Black and Silver 4" figures.

This gives me something to look forward to while Joe is in cryofreeze, MU is rebranding, Cap America and Spidey movie figures are garbage, and Star Wars is just plain boring through 3 waves. The lack of future prospects was starting to push me into the 6" world so this will come at a good time.

9 points of articulation is pretty good for a company with little to no action figure experience.

Snowflakian 11-05-2013 10:33 AM

I'm kind of looking forward to the Black ones as RoboSwats commanded by a silver one. xD At least that's how I'm going to put them on my SHIELD/Joe shelf.

snake5289 11-05-2013 10:39 AM

That'd be cool. I was thinking of using the black one as a bad Robo.

Like when Superman goes on a bender and fights himself in Superman III? :D

Here's the thing though, most 6" figures at mass retail are usually more articulated than their smaller counterparts. DCUC, Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, et al. The 6" Robocop shown has the same articulation than the 4" figures. Since that's the case, it's almost like the 6" figure is redundant. Why buy that one when the smaller one moves the same way? I guess this is akin to how Bridge Direct handles their 6" LOTR figures.

I used to be a big fan of Play Arts Kai, but their quality control issues turned me away. Super Alloy, I don't really see myself buying. Maybe Tamashii will make a Figuarts Robocop and I'll bite.

Joe Moore 11-05-2013 12:38 PM

Resources, expected sales and production budget will always dictate how much articulation a figure will have. Scale isn't the sole factor. The toys you named are all from the two of the top three toy companies, which garner larger budgets and larger production runs with more exposure in toy aisles.

I can't imagine Jada toys has the budget even close to what those guys do, especially when comparing this to Star Wars, Marvel and DC toys. From the look at these pics, it's clear they put focus on a detailed sculpt. More articulation will result in a more expensive to produce figure. I can definitely understand why these figures are the way they are.

Every time I see pictures of this new Robo all I can think of is how much I really hate that human hand...

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of that shitty Prime Directives miniseries but that'd be way cooler.

BEAM 11-05-2013 02:03 PM

I never saw that miniseries but if it's shitty, I won't waste my time.

ninja18 11-05-2013 05:09 PM

Did the site mention a release date?

I'll admit to not seeing it in years but even back then I didn't think it was very good. All I really remember was there was a black guy turned into another Robocop and they fought.

zim 11-05-2013 08:20 PM

looks good but where is version 2.0 4 inch?

snake5289 11-05-2013 08:49 PM

What did that one look like again?

We got a brief glimpse of Robocop 2.0 design back in July. Right now, that's the only pic available of the 2.0 figure.
