TMNT Classics Rocksteady Fix

I was able to find a TMNT Classics Bebop and Rosksteady in the wild, and when I got home to open them up, I realized that my Rocksteady was assembled with his right knee on backwards! Has this happened to anyone else?
I know that it won't be too hard of a fix, but does anyone have some tips to help me disassemble the leg to flip the knee joint the right way? Should I use the hot water technique or is there another method for getting this done without damaging the leg?

Contact Playmates, they will replace him and they need to know what batch had a production error.

I took him out of the package today, and I realized that both of the lower leg parts are on backwards as well.
How do I get Playmates to replace the figure?

my rocksteady had both shins on backwards as well and couldn't even stand...i just yanked the boots off and dunked the shins in boiling water, pulled them apart and reassembled them the correct way (took a little effort to get the pegs back into the holes), and popped the boots back on...he stands great now

They're all like that, contacting Playmates won't do anything. You just have to swap them around with a little customization.

jestermon 12-08-2013 01:35 PM

Don't know what customer service you contacted but I've had several things replaced for free.

MegaPrime33 12-08-2013 02:15 PM

Anybody want to post pics of their before and after?

It's not a matter of them replacing it, it's a matter of every single Rocksteady is like this and getting a new one won't help because it will be messed up too

I have not gotten around to fixing the legs yet. I contacted Playmates toys and they wanted me to send pictures of the poorly assembled Rocksteady.

why in the world would you buy it when it's like that? and if you didn't notice until after you bought it.. why wouldn't you return it once you noticed it? .. why would you open it?

they have been plentiful in my area.. they've been restocked several times, and the comic book shops in my area have them as well. you should've just waited for one without a problem.. or you should've brought it to TRU customer service when you were at the store and showed them.. or.. if you didn't notice 'til you got home.. you should've taken it back with your receipt and have had TRU replace rather than going through the hassle of contacting playmates.. TRU should've done that for you.

they're all like what? my bebop and rocksteady were both perfect out of the packaging.

MegaPrime33 12-12-2013 05:59 AM

Both of mine have the "knee cap" in the front and not like the one pictured above, so it's not all of them that are like this. But certainly seems like enough of them are that a lot of people on the interwebs are complaining.

darthschroeder 12-13-2013 03:19 AM

I did not realize the knee was backwards until I had gotten it home already, and I did not think it would be too hard of a fix to correct. I did not even realize that the lower legs were reversed until I had it out of the box. That was the only one in the TRU, and there is not another one around me.

Well I would rather get it replaced with one I didn't have to fix myself.

Sorry, if it's a hassle for you to send an image off.

Boy Wonder was right...
I am now thinking that all of the Rocksteady figures have been assembled with backward calves because Playmates sent me another one in the mail, and it also was incorrectly assembled. Oh well, I guess I am going to have to fix it myself...shouldn't be too hard, I hope...

jestermon, it is no hassle to send an image...I did include one in a previous post.
