TMNT 2014 Movie Toy Details
|
The movie teaser poster looked pretty good. This might not be that bad after all, but still not a fan of Megan in general, but we'll see.
|
I wonder what scale these figures will be in? The article doesn't indicate if it will be the 4 or 6 inch. I really hope they turn out great and the movie also turns out great.
|
Hmmm...I guess those sound decent.
|
So no word on articulation for the turtles, hopefully they have as much as the nick figures had or more.
I wonder if this is over at that other forum, people will be rioting in the streets. Are they still supposed to be aliens anymore? |

I think the turtles will have at least ankle articulation and the reviewer notes that April doesn't have it. Also, im betting it's a 6 scale as they mention the turtles ARE huge and bigger that April. No idea how big shredder and splinter are in comparison.
Im not a fan of the Michelangelo description but Raph and Leo sound decent. |

i'm very interested to see what these look like. i'm okay with them looking rather different since we have the cartoon going on now where the turtles have pretty much their classic look. from the description shredder sounds pretty badass.. i hope it doesn't come off hokey though. toy fair is too far away! |
Didn't one of the executive producers end up saying the script was mostly unchanged from the first couple of drafts? I seem to recall that. I eventually stopped following news on this movie though.
Regardless, these descriptions don't alarm me in the slightest. The personal touches for each turtle actually seems to fit their personality (aside from Raph's loincloth-esq accessory, which seems iffy) so it sounds good to me. Shredder sounds absolutely awful, but you know what? I don't care how ridiculous it may look, so long as "Eric Sachs" actually dons Samurai-inspired armor at some point in the movie. It'll make up for the Foot clan being soldiers with guns. Maybe. |
When I first read this on another site it just seemed fake to me. A toy show in Russia where you can't take pictures but yet they can just describe it to us lol. I don't know? Will have to see what they look like when they are made...

That is true, Joe. Isn't there something with Playmates too though that they either don't ship or sell to other countries outside of the US? I just find it weird that they would be debuted in Russia?? I'm sure it will prove to be true, it's just a head scratcher for me...

I still hold out hope that both the movie and toys will be, at the very least, tolerable. |

Bah, I'll be more than happy just getting the upcoming Classics movie Turtles instead.
|
Oh my god the new Michelangelo design looks fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. There's pictures over on another forum of a leaked kids Halloween costume of Michelangelo. The new turtles appear to rely heavily on Botox injections to their lips. Given it's a Halloween costume, it still looks horrible. Ugh. if you get a chance, brace yourself and go take a look.

I am SOOO relieved that the "alien" aspect has supposedly been removed. At least the ooze being alien is a somewhat interesting interpretation. I'm still skeptical though, and that's coming from someone who will actually defend Megan Fox's (marginal) skills as an actress (hey, she was good in Jennifer's Body, lol).
Worst case scenario, the new animated series is strong enough to keep the franchise moving forward even if this movie is an absolute trainwreck. |
The ooze is alien in origin for most iterations of TMNT (including the original Mirage comics). It is by no means a new thing.

You can still see the Krang/Utrom puppet created for the movie in one of the scenes. It's in a glass pyramid in the part where the turtles sneak into TGRI, shortly before Tatsu shows up with his ninjas. Anyhoo, I'm not sure what to think of that leaked costume. The overall look (scavenged clothing) isn't terrible, though mask does look similar to Shrek. But we all know how closely these things usually resemble the characters from the movies (they don't), so I'm not worried. I am very eager to see the movie toys, though - particularly Shredder/Eric Sachs. |
I think a lot of people are making too much about the mask/face. It's most likely very ill-representative of how he'll look in the film. I mean it doesn't even match the rest of his body for Chrissake. It's a different shade of green and has no scales.

Roids? They look better than that costume. Not digging raph's full head bandanna
|
Eh that seems like a bit much.
|
I'm not going to judge their look until after I see the finished film. When the original TMNT movie came out, I thought those costume designs were ridiculous. But the movie turned out good (a little corny here and there, but overall a good translation).
Hopefully this one will be as good as the current TV series. |
There are a few more at this link showing Leo, Donnie, and Shredder.
