Avengers Infinite Figures
And as usual the female most wanted Wasp is short pack sigh...Hasbro still has yet to learn, with 3 IM!
Dear lord here we go again Hasbro way to fail.
Are there not enough IM peg warming right now?? WTF!?! All i see at retail right now is the black repaint of that figure.
I think it's the retailers that ask for the iron mans and cap Americas. Hasbro does not care
About collectors |
Wasp and Hulk look fantastic! I'll be passing on the rest. Probably pass on hulk too. Not sure. Glad to finally be getting a wasp figure though!
Think Hyperion will be the new Superman standard custom base!
What is "Platinum" supposed to mean here?
once again hasblow screws up! they should have left out cap and IM and filled it with new ones. or at least done 2 of wasp. I suggest we all email hasbro customer service and complain. It does make a difference.
Ah Hasbro, you'll never learn.
So I wonder what they will do with a4ll those IM3 toys, their not going to have room for these at retail.
Ugh... We just got a whole bunch of Captain America figures! And could they have at least released a new version of Iron Man if they're going to release him again as well?
*sigh* Glad I've opted for import stuff... |
Oh they arent even Fucking Trying!
I mean, 1 Wasp per box? Da Fuq? and they could have atleast Kitbashed Ironman. taken another Ironman, paint him black and gold. Marvel Now Ironman, there you go! Cap could have been a repainted kitbashed Movie cap into a Marvel Now Cap! |
I've been a long time supporter of MU (since day 1 actually) and I have always...seemingly...taken Hasbro's side on mostly everything, which is an incredibly unpopular stance, I understand. But let me justify...
I wrote a post a few months back justifying why I thought the MU reboot was a good idea. In sum, it comes down to marketing and keeping the image fresh for their consumer base. This makes sense and after MU's extensive history, it's good to change things up once in a while. In the meanwhile, critics of this move were concerned that the Marvel 3.75 articulation would suffer as evidenced by the decreasing quality of movie figures (that is truly a disappointment, and one of the few areas I disagree with Hasbro). However, we can clearly see that they are continuing the exact same molds used from MU. So I think this criticism is unwarranted at the moment. But the bigger point in writing this reply is concernign the case assortment. Currently, most of the big box stores that I'm familar with are trying to clearance or get rid of all MU brand figures at the moment. Compounded by this is the fact that the last 3 or so MU waves have not been readily available in the brick and morter stores. This is obviously a distribution problem which is not Hasbro's fault. It is an infrastructure fault. Everything from Hasbro to the production to the shipping to Target/Walmart what have you's Shelfing schedule and everything in between. There is not one single point that can be faulted in this. Every hand in that chain owns a part of the blame. But I digress.. Suffice to say, this year was tough to find MU and the number of waves released was substantially less than other years. I look at this case assortment and I think three things: 1) The Captain America placement is a good thing. That buck, in my opinion, is probably the best MU Cap figure available. And considering how bad distribution was this year, it allows people to get their hands on it. Additionally, cross marketing with the Cap movie makes it a good business move. 2) The Iron Man figure is a disapointment. He has been released several times and is widely available. His appearance is strictly business related and while that sucks, I understand it. Look, toy companies have a two fold job: be a business which entails being able to grow through profit, and put out a good product which gets them profit TO grow. Every toy company has to cut corners in some way and in this instance it is adding in a famous character for children and others to buy because he has immediate brand recognition. The bigger point is, the toy world does not revolve around collectors and we have to stop thinking it as such. There are greater reasons beyond us for these moves. 3) Everything else is brand new. Although the Hulk is a variant, he is an extreme variant with a decent amount of retooling. We have seen worse MU waves come and go with little new stuff. This should excite us that we are getting characters that we havent gotten before. Bottom line is, this case I think is a very fair balance between trying to keep MU afloat through sure profit bringers and also giving collectors new things for themselves. |
How hard would it have been for them to make that Iron Man the Marvel Now version? Could have repainted something from the IM2 line and people wouldn't complain as much as getting bleeding edge for the 8th time.

damn wasp is one per case? f you hasbro!
Hasbro can come up with excuses, but did the big retailers hold a gun to their head and force them to pack 3 iron men? Those same LUB IM ones are peg warming still... I don't buy it. I am stoked they are keeping the line going don't get me wrong. Wasps leg already looks warped in those pics, I miss the old female buck.
You people realize they would sell waaaay more Iron Mans than Wasps assuming even numbers were produced. It is Wasp that would peg warm if there were 3 of her and 1 IM, or even 2 and 2. Get over it people.

HOWEVER... while I do think that would've been the case for either the new Cap figure or Heroic Age IM if they were opc when they first appeared, it is odd to see them packed heavily in a re-release. But hey, Hasbro has numbers we'll never see to justify this apparently, so whatever. |
Personally, I'm just glad to finally be able to get a Wasp figure at all. Case ratio aside on it not being at least 2 per case, this is still a decent initial line up and shows promise for the continued life of this scale on store shelves.
