Question about new 52 action figures constantine
Hi all. Recently finished getting every last new 52 figure. Catwoman was the last one I needded. I'm stoked about the suicide squad and crime syndicate action figures coming out but was wondering if that recent dc signiture collectables john constantine would fit with the rest. Its weird, I bought the new 52 batgirl but she is so short in comparison with katana or pandora or catwoman.......I like her but she just doesn't look right with the rest. I would like a constantine figure to go with my big 52 swamp thing but I wanna make sure everything will look right. Also can anyone list some dc characters from before the relaunch that would fit? It seems some characters like batwoman didn't change appearance at all with the relaunch......she seemed like someone that would fit. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thx so much in advance

Yeah, most items made by Mattel (like the Unlimited New 52 Batgirl) won't fit in with toys made by DC Direct/DC Collectibles.
Sadly that includes Constantine as well, because he was a part of Mattel's subscription series. There is a much older John Constantine action figure made by DC Direct, which I own. It's barely poseable and the hair is a little more reddish than I'd like, but worth owning nonetheless if you like the character. |
As far as previously released toys that will fit, I'll name a few off the top of my head.
DC Direct made a Damian Wayne Robin as a part of their Batman Incorporated line which fits perfectly. Damian stuck around as the most recent Robin when the New 52 relaunch happened, so I'd say he's an important one to have for a Batman collection, but the toy is also insanely expensive ever since the character's death. The Arkham City Talia Al Ghul is another one, as I believe it is the one and only 6.75"-7" action figure ever made of her. She is Damian's mother, and so an extended part of the Bat Family. Her action figure wasn't sculpted to be very realistic so she fits in with the New 52 series quite well. It's also unlikely that there will be another Talia action figure made, so this is your only choice if you want the character. The Arkham City Ra's Al Ghul is a slightly different story. I personally think it is the best version of Ra's, but his head was sculpted with a bit more realism than Talia and also wears an unusual outfit so he wouldn't fit in too well. You might be better off with the DC Direct Batman: Hush Ra's Al Ghul, as it is based on artwork by Jim Lee just as the current DC Direct/DC Collectibles (same company) New 52 Batman is. The entire Batman: Hush line is based on Jim Lee's artwork as well, so Alfred is also a good one to get. |
I would advise against Damian. Mine broke 2 minutes after opening as his arms are connected via toothpick thin clear pegs and it broke just by trying to move the arm.
