Marvel Ultimate Universe

Does anyone or did anyone read the Ultimate comics? Here's an up date to that continuity.

The End of the Ultimate Universe and the New Beginning - Comic Vine

I lost all love after Ultimatum and even traded/sold off my entire Ultimate collection.

Iceman 03-10-2014 09:27 PM

I think I started a thread about this somewhere. I had read a lot of the early stuff but Ultimatum was bad bad bad and killed off so many. They had a promising start to the reboot for Ultimates and X-Men but those titles quickly fell off. The only thing that has stayed good is Ultimate Spider-Man.

I read it in the beginning, then I kind of followed it via wiki entries and other summaries after Vol. 3. But the only one I actually read on a consistent basis was USM, and even then I stopped reading it shortly after the Venom arc. Mostly it was due to fatherhood, rather than any specific problems I had with Ultimates.

@Iceman - Couldn't find a thread for Ultimates as a whole, but I did find this discussion we had almost two years ago about Loeb vs. Millar:

Ah ok, should we merge the 2 then? And yeah it's still getting worse it seems like. I kind of wonder why they don't just kill off the entire Ultimate universe...

I'm fine with them being separate. Like I said, the other thread is about two years old anyway. Also, it's specifically about those two writers and their effects on Marvel's Ultimate universe, whereas this thread can be about all of the Ultimate books or at least that universe as a whole.

Nowadays I don't follow Ultimate comics much..

I wonder who does, after this latest Ultimate they've done. I've practically stopped reading even Ultimate X-Men and just traded all my Ultimate's away.

I was a big fan of the Ultimate Universe. But there literally became no need for it any longer.
