Hmmm still not digging any of these designs...

Shredder looks like hes cosplaying as Megatron and Splinters topknot looks like balls :/

Lody666 05-06-2014 06:39 AM

Compared with the Nick figures, these will def be shelf warming.

SilverCenturion 05-06-2014 06:50 AM

Weren't these supposed to be in a 3.75 inch scale? Or at least I thought I heard? It would explain the lack of articulation in their legs or occasional arms.

trebleshot 05-06-2014 06:56 AM

The Foot Soldiers look kind of bland. More like generic mercenaries than ninja clan members.

If I get anything from this line, it will be the four Turtles and that's about it.

Shawpaw 05-06-2014 07:31 AM

These are sooooo ugly

themadbubbler 05-06-2014 08:54 AM

The only two that look decent are April and the street disguise Raph. I really don't dig any of the character designs.

darkwinggaryl 05-06-2014 08:57 AM

Not to be the one yay-sayer pm the board, but I actually kind of dig these... The Shredder and the Splinter are sort of lame, but I can get behind the rest of these. I'm okay with the more generic Foot Soldier approach.

I think it's funny that this is considered "wave 1"

I sincerely doubt that there will be a wave 2. If these things aren't peg warmers and still on clearance after the inevitable sequel (let's think in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra or Hobbit terms here) I will be surprised.

MegaPrime33 05-06-2014 09:24 AM

I actually like shredder.

Ash Talon 05-06-2014 09:27 AM

The designs, and toys, look like something from the 90s.

Poison Shadow 05-06-2014 10:30 AM

I... may end up getting most of these, other than the terribly non-ninja Foot Soldier mercenary and the disguised Raph. Splinter is also a maybe until I can get a better look at his head sculpt.

I like that Shredder way more than I should. The helmet reminds me of Super Shredder plus the armor and bladed cape look so ridiculous that it's kinda neat. The mantra for production design on this movie was definitely "go big or go home" judging by what we've seen, for good or ill.

Only reason I'd get April is because she's somewhat closer to the old 'toon version than the teenage Nickelodeon one.

snake5289 05-06-2014 10:48 AM

When are these supposed to drop? Depending on how they look in person I may get Raph and Shredder.

behindthemask 05-06-2014 11:58 AM

What scale/size are these? If they're 6''/1:12 scale or close to 5'' scale then I may get a few April Oneal's for some A.C.B.A work.

Phantomcrow 05-06-2014 12:04 PM

I thought there was going to be 2 scales?? One that is close to the nick size figures and a 6 inch line for collectors of just the 4 turtles. I swear the glimpse from toyfare did not look like these.

Shin-Gouki 05-06-2014 12:35 PM

Wow these designs really blow. Glad I'm not a Turtle collector.

There are actually three scales of figures. These here are the smaller Nick sized figures, there are also 6" tall Turtles that each have some sort of gimmick, and there are the foot tall Turtles. These smaller ones are, sadly, the ones with the most articulation.

That said, I actually like the look of these. They're still Playmates figures, so they can't be compared to what other companies could do with the designs. I'll at least be getting Raph and April. Though half the reason I'll be getting her is for her camera accessory. I might also get Shredder, depending on how he looks in-person. As-is the top of his helmet looks a little... fat.

What I'm hoping Playmates does, is either make 6" tall Classic Colection figures of these designs, or they allow another company take a stab at making collector-oriented TMNT merch. DST is already making some stuff, but I'm not sure I would want them handeling larger figures (I want more than two or three per movie), so how about NECA. They did the Mirage Turtles and fans seem to like those. Maybe they can do some good here too.

Batman 05-06-2014 06:29 PM

April looks pretty good, especially for Playmates.

DarthNexus 05-06-2014 06:39 PM

The figures I saw by MMCustoms or whatever on this website where way better than these…. This are like those 5poa bad things that star wars came out with where the elbows and knees don't even move.
I dislike that a lot of toy companies can't even put out decent toys anymore, it's their job for crying out loud.

Except the only ones that bad articulation wise are April, trenchcoat Raph, and possibly Splinter. Everyone else clearly has more than five points of articulation.

Still, I just find it kinda sad when big toy companies make inferior products to people just making customs, those hunched over backs are killing me…. and with you saying these have the most poa its just a sad day to be a turtle fan :/
Say what you want about the TMNT cgi movie with Laurence Fishburne and Patrick Stewart but that toy line killleddddd it so much POA and I could pose those bad boys for days

Original Full Set Jim Lee Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Paintings Signed Winters | eBay

these look like the jim lee TMNT reboot from the 90's

Enigma2K2 05-06-2014 09:36 PM

Shredder looks like he's trying WAAAAAY too hard.

Yeah, no.

Optimus Neeson 05-06-2014 09:54 PM

Raph is not my favorite turtle, but his toy looks the best of the 4. I might get him and Leo; put Leo's head on raph's body, and repaint it to look like Donatello :D And it's not a red+blue=purple joke. Donatello is my favorite turtle.

Panthro1978 05-06-2014 11:16 PM

Oh dear, oh dear. These have got 'Home Bargain by Christmas' written all over them. Huge pass.

Startaiger 05-07-2014 12:44 AM

Not liking the design at all, but I 'm getting April just to have Megan Fox next to Angelina/Lara on my shelf. Yeah I'm stupid like that!!
