Spaceballs Eagle 5 on LEGO Ideas

CMIII 05-13-2014 01:38 PM

this Idea is a bit out there. Although I like Space Balls I cannot see many buying it

This is awesome on so many levels. But no flamethrower? For shame.

"We're picking up the outlines of a...Winnebago."

"Winnebago? ...Lone Starr!"

This might be the one Lego Ideas set I will have no choice but to actively track down and purchase (assuming it ever gets made). Loved that movie to the point I can almost quote the entire thing verbatim.

Flamethrower?

Are you maybe thinking of Stripes instead?

Merchandising!

I would buy this and love it if they ever actually made it. Mel Brooks made a deal with George Lucas over the parody and Lucas' only stipulation was that Brooks not make any toys. Not sure if that extended when Disney took over so who knows?

Not on Eagle 5 but in the movie.

I know that, but that's exactly why I was confused. There's no reason to include the flamethrower in this set because it had nothing to do with the Eagle 5 (whereas the RV in Stripes did have a built-in flamethrower).

Now if his comment was just meant as a joke, then it wasn't a very good one.

That deal between Lucas and Brooks is also the reason why the "Merchandising" scene and associated running-gags are in the film.
