Does this mean Mattel can't make a proton pack to go with their neutrino wand anymore? Because I was looking forward to that possibility... :(

Not at all. Since Mattel isn't making pure prop replicas (they're more in line with "toys") it allows for both companies to produce similar items, and present them to different markets.

Too bad this doesn't allow for another company to start producing 6" scale Ghostbusters since Mattel has no interest in continuing their line. I wish NECA could regain the license and pick up where Mattel left off (or start over with even better quality GB's).
