Vintage TMNT Help

Picked up this collection of 15 figures. Need some advice on value before I sell. There are so many obscure variations with these things I don't even know what I bought. Thanks!

Judging by the price tags, you might possibly have an original run of figures there. I haven't kept up on TMNT prices over the years, but you could be sitting on a small fortune, especially for the unpunched figures.

Yeah, the guy I bought them from said he bought them in '88/'89 and they've been in his attic since. I actually believe him. His wife was really excited to get them out of the house. When I gave him $150 she said that sometimes it pays to be a hoarder and was giving him a hard time.

I'll sell them to a collector for a decent price, but need to know what they're worth first. eBay prices are all over the place.

If you are checking ebay try and watch what they actually sell for. The buy it now prices can be crazy and sit there forever when they ask too much for them. Just a thought...

Yeah, thanks for the feedback. I check sold prices. Have quite a bit of eBay experience from my real habit... Baseball cards.

Ebay can be a decent judge of what an item's worth might be, but it can be misleading as well. You can set a price at whatever you want it to be, but it doesn't necessarily mean an item is worth that. It will only be worth that if someone is willing to pay for it.

I would recommend checking various sources, and consult price guides and experts in the field if possible. The last thing you would want to do if you are trying to flip these, is to be misinformed and cheat yourself out of their true worth.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid by coming here!

Ok... value depends on if you are selling as 1 lot, individual or in mixed lots. If you sell them singular then check out multiple sold listings prices, take 10-20 identical auctions, total up the value divide by 10-20 (however many listings you use) to get an average or median #. That way you are in the middle ground and more likely to sell then asking extreme top dollar and sitting on them forever. I would sell the turtles as a set of 4, and either Rocksteady and Bebop as a set or add Krang and Shredder as a set of 4, April, and Splinter and Ace seperately.

I'd say sell in lots as if you sell singularly you will end up stuck with 1 turtle and april and maybe stuck with them for a while, where as a lot of people would want a full set of figures or st of good guys, bad guys etc.
Set of 4 turtles $100-150
4 bad guys $100-250
Ace $100 or so
April $40
Splinter $35-40, 50 if he has the felt head/squishy head.

Or ask $4-500 for the lot... that's my pricing on it. IMO. But factor in that the figures are being remade it will take away from the value over time. I'd invest in some plastic protective cases for them as anything that old has a tendency for the glue to let go from the cardboard backing. And don't punch out the unpunched holes, as the true MOC collector will pay extra.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. This is really helpful. I'll probably bunch them up as it is just easier than selling 15 individually. But it doesn't seem like all 15 at once is the right way to go. Thanks!

Just sent everything to eBay 5-day auction style. Time to let the market decide what these are worth.

Give us a link so we can watch and.bid.......

You can create 3 sets each including 5 figures. Check for prices that are charged by online retail sites such ebay, amazon for such action figures. Set a price for each set. You can sell th sets in the range of $100-200.

I didn't know if that was frowned upon here.

Here is my eBay...

Thanks.

If my memory serves me correctly... im 31 by the way i have all of those figures, and as i recall only the first generation and first wave of figures all came with accessories attached together like that.

As for value of these gems you ended up getting, i'd say look them up on ebay and check the SOLD listings for value. thats how i determine what the going rate for comics are and so fourth.

i remember back in the day when figures like these were 3.99 to 4.99 each.... you go and try buying figures today. $15 bucks all the way up to $40ish. bahhh
