It's too bad they ruined such an incredible sculpt with a figure that pretty much needs to be lying down. Had he come with a regular helmet and head I would be all over this.

It will come with a regular head and helmet when they release Dallas and Ripley.

Yeah you'd think this version would be a con exclusive or two pack released with Ash or something and just regular Kane with John Hurt's likeness would be the standard figure released in this wave. Either way including the egg in some way would definitely have been appreciated.

I wonder if Ripley's suit will be just a little thinner, obviously it'll be white like it was in the film, but I don't know if it should be thinner than Kane's and Dallas' or if it was different for the actual suit used. Either way if I get Ripley it'll probably be the regular jumpsuit with the flamethrower version, and that one's Jonesy is calm so there's that too.

But that does me no good for Kane. As En just said, they should have packed an egg with him. In fact, why does it seem like NECA is lacking three important components to this franchise, an in scale egg, face hugger, and chest burster?

They said we might get an in-scale egg and face hugger as accessories with upcoming figures, but how exactly would one have a chest burster? Just like the snake-ish thing that slithers off the table and across the floor, or the coiled up breaking through the sternum type? Maybe later we'll get a chest burster like how now the two figures of Ripley each have a Jonesy.

No normal head no sale.

You aren't alone in that opinion. To me it works out then as money better spent on another NECA figure, like the dog alien.

Skoob 11-01-2014 12:56 AM

Pity they didn't provide an adjustable sliding chrome visor, the kind that slides up and down into the back of the helmet.

I have wondered why no attempt has been made to produce good figures of plain, pristine classic science fiction spacesuits. I'd love to have the orange and yellow suits worn by Bowman and Poole in 2001, not to mention the silver suits seen in the moon scenes and aboard Leonov in the 2010 sequel. Space: 1999 pressure suits in a modern collector format would also be welcome. I'm sure you can think of others...

Becareful when going to tru. Their prices for the new preds are 5 bucks higher making bad blood 30 and the others normal about 20 to 25 and they aren't adjusting to the ticketed price!

My local TRU only wanted the normal $25 for Bad Blood and online they only want $20 for Enforcer Predator so maybe it's just your store.

Guys, the reason he doesn't have a regular head is 'cause NECA couldn't get the likeness right to the actor who played Kane. This is their way of getting us a Kane figure through a loophole. Plus, I'd bet dollars to donuts we'll see a lot of custom Kane heads made for this guy, so someone will probably make head casts you can just pop on him.

Not having John Hurt's likeness rights is the most reasonable assumption as to why this figure is face-hugged. I imagine that since they're making Dallas in his space suit, some people will have him carrying Kane like in the movie.

It is still a waste of a figure regardless. They did not have to make his face look exact. It's not like toys haven't done that for years.

T'were'nt no assumption, En Sabah, they've flat out admitted it! :D Still would be nice to get an extra undamaged helmet though, or at least an interchangeable visor piece, that way we could headswap and have Rambo or Dutch or Michael Fassbender in the suit, haha.

NECA is above doing figures without having them look like they did in film/game/life. It is one of NECA's goals as an adult collectibles toy company to make each figure as accurate and detailed as possible given size and price-range. So were this Hasbro or Mattel making figures for Alien, sure they'd probably just make it look close enough and move on. I'd rather not have Kane than have one that doesn't look like anybody from the film.

You make it sound a crime to have to admit it so. They also don't have Ian Holm's likeness so don't cross your fingers for an Ash figure, so far all we know for sure is they have Sigourney Weaver's, Tom Skerritt's, and Lance Henriksen's for upcoming figures. I would assume they still have Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn likeness rights, I would like to see a different Hudson figure since I passed the first partly due to his scared "game over man" face.

Dr Kain 11-02-2014 05:12 PM

My Hudson does not have a game over man face. He has a normal one.

Unless it is Godzilla.

Unless it is Godzilla.

NECA has only made two Hudsons, the individual figure has a worried/freaked-out face kinda like "game over man" and the other one was the two pack with the angry yelling "come on motherf***ers" face. Maybe you mean Hicks has a "normal" face?

You cherry-picked my quote. I said "It is one of NECA's goals as an adult collectibles toy company to make each figure as accurate and detailed as possible given size and price-range" you left out the bit about price and size. Sure SH Monsterarts are a bit better than NECA's Godzilla figures (like ten percent better), but they're also three times the price. The 2014 Godzilla from NECA was created directly using the computer model that Legendary used for the movie so minor pose and sculpt is all that's lost there, although I will say that the foot-tall/two feet long NECA 2014 Godzilla is significantly better than either the NECA 12" long figure or the SH figure. The NECA '94 Godzilla really only loses out to the SH figure because of how they scaled the gut and chest, but again the SH figure is three times the price but the same size.

It is a crime, I want NECA to be held fully accountable for not fulfilling all my action figure dreams, and while I'm at it, they should give me free toys for the rest of my life, and a Snickers bar too! (/sarcasm) I'm not really interested in these figures though, but hopefully NECA can eventually get the likeness rights to any holdout actors. Heck, they got Sigourney Weaver, so who knows?

Yeah, I consider his 2 pack face to be a normal face compared to game over man face.

I know I did, that was the point. :-p

The 94 one is incorrect in more than just his scaled gut and chest. His eyes are the wrong color. His scales are wrong. His spines are off. His snout is not accurate.

His spines actually look pretty close, really just a little too bright on the colors. The sculpt of the head including the snout is based on the costume directly, so any problems there probably occur more from film editing and trick shots making it look slightly different than film over the figure being terribly wrong. They did mess up making the sclera of the eye red instead of white, and they did make it more reptilian-y scaled rather than the texture used for the costume. Really the only "huge" problem should be that the tail is too short and not as fat. It does seem like NECA went more for a singular Heisei era sum up figure over doing that film's suit exactly.

Back on topic here: NECA said on Twitter that some figures in Aliens series 5 will probably have some eggs and maybe facehuggers too.

Dr Kain 11-03-2014 07:55 AM

Awesome, thanks. Series 5 is the one with Ripley right? And that is Jan? For real? Not like how Series 4 was July, then Oct, and now maybe possibly this month? Same with the queen?

Speaking of which, I sold some stuff on ebay, so I have some of it set aside for the queen.

En Sabah Nerd 11-03-2014 12:41 PM

Yeah, whenever they give you a release month you usually have to add another two for proper expectancy. If I remember right then series 4 will be Dallas in space suit, Ripley in space suit, and regular Ripley. The Ripleys of course coming with one Jonesy each! I don't know if they've said anything about series 5 yet, but I will take a gamble and say it'll have Ripley from the end of Aliens with her taped together guns and maybe she'll be the first to have an egg since she destroyed the nest in that scene. This figure would also be able to fit in the power loader they're releasing next "summer" or whenever it actually comes out.
I love how NECA is saying "series 3 is just weeks away, we promise." This gets me excited as I quite want the dog alien, but when I check online TRU says it's expected on 12/23/14. Somebody needs to get their shit together.

Dr Kain 11-03-2014 07:00 PM

The only one I plan to buy from Series 3 is Bishop.

En Sabah Nerd 11-03-2014 08:18 PM

Bishop looks great, better than this Kane just for having an actual face. They seem to have nailed Lance's face, NECA is great with face likeness when there's a face to be had (I freaking love Ash's expression on their Evil Dead 2 figures). I look forward to a full gallery of Bishop, but he's an easy pass for me. While Alien 3 was pretty much crap, I can't deny that the alien itself was pretty slick and much more an independent menace like Big Chap was, that's why I want the figure.
