Where do i start!
Hello just looking for a little bit help! Recently ive been bored, and i have always enjoyed collecting bits and bobs, old cards eg, i have had a look at some action figures eg batman, alien and predator. But theres just so much choices out there! I couldnt beleive when i saw the detail and how good the hot toys figures looked! But unfortunately i couldnt afford them, my mind is scrambled with looking thro them all, play kai arts, dc universe, they were so many , anyway does anyone have a few pointers for starting a collection, also what manufacturer would you say is the best with a reasonable price! Sorry if i sound stupid but any advice would be very much appreciated. Cheerz

find something you like and go with that. Some people go off the deep end and buy everything

Are you much of a comic book person at all?
Mattel's Dc Universe line, which recently ended, has a pretty wide selection of 6" DC Comics characters. DC Collectibles (formerly DC Direct) is currently making 6.75" figures based on designs from DC's comic book reboot, the New 52. Their stuff has a reputation for being fragile, though, which I can definitely attest to. Their 3.75" toys aren't worth buying at all, they're both over-priced and highly likely to break. On the Marvel side, Toybiz started the 6" Marvel Legends which have since been taken over and revived by Hasbro. There is also a pretty good selection of characters there, and the Toybiz stuff pretty regularly included diorama bases or highly detailed display stands. Similar to DC Collectibles, Marvel Select has done a lot of 7" Marvel characters, including a few from the movies. You also can't really go wrong with Hasbro's Marvel Universe 3.75" toys, which was rebranded under a new name recently though it escapes me at the moment. There is a pretty wide selection of characters to choose from. For video game collectibles, Play Arts Kai seems the way to go - although there have also been numerous complaints about them regarding quality and durability. |
Thanks for the replys, not into comic books that much, yeah ive heard people complaining about the play kai arts stuff and im just worried of shelling out £100 on something thats maybe worth it, but i suppose ill Never know until i get one myself , my problem is i get hooked on things really easy, i like to have a complete set of something, Ill continue to look, thank alot for replying

I've recently moved into Hot Toys, which are excellent yet pricey.

What about NECA? Im just looking about on google the now, they seem to have some really good stuff. Any ideas on the quality! I was shoked when i seen the detail in some of the hot toys stuff, i really like the dark night triology and some of the stuff looks incredible.

I always liked NECA, but stopped buying their stuff several years ago for no particular reason. I've heard rumblings of some sometimes shoddy quality control, but nowhere near as often as some other companies. Never had any bad experiences myself.
I collect Hot Toys as well as some of Sideshow's 1:6 scale items, and I love 'em. The price means that people like me have no choice but to limit their purchases to one or two per year, which is probably a good thing in most cases. |
Speaking of Batman, you wouldn't go wrong with some of the Arkham Asylum/City figures.
