"action figure" is a funny name for these things.

I prefer highly articulated figures as much as the next adult collector, but comments like this seem to forget that these lines are primarily targeted at 4-9 year olds.

I also remember playing with 5 POA Star Wars figures like they were going out of style when I was that age. A kid and their imagination can make it work just fine. They don't need their figures to be able to perform every Yoga position in the book to have fun.

My lil' guy loves these types of figures. We have the Rebels line and he goes crazy over them, 5 POA and all. I'll have to consider picking some of these up for him. We don't really watch Web Warriors, but we love Spider-man.

Wish hasbro would put more focus on articulated figures i stead of this role play crap and 5 poa that has proven it just sits on shelves! I mean if these were aimed it kids 2-5 bucks should be the range but these are like 9 or so bucks and no parent i know is gonna drop that kinda cash for shut up toys.

Yeah, those Titan figures are doing so poorly they're doing a WHOLE ASSORTMENT just for villains. Yeah, total flop there.

Also, in case you haven't been buying stuff at retail, costs have gone up for EVERYTHING. The $5 action figure effectively doesn't exist anymore, and if a kid REALLY wants a Spider-Man, $10 is hardly the worse price (especially with the basic assortment at $7)

IN case you haven't noticed, those articulated figures are now $13 for 4", and $20 for 6". Parents aren't looking at points of articulation or paint apps. They see a small Spider-Man figure for $13, or a big one for $10.

why is Agent Venom sporting a robo leg?

Well shit. I bought a 5 POA 3.75 Kaine, I would've done that with Agent Venom too. But 6"? Nah.

That's a good price point for that size though considering that's almost the price the 3.75 POAs are when they first come out.

Hey man that was uncalled for. Toybiz figures at least had articulation at the elbows and knees.

I find it worth noting that the Legends information doesn't mention Anti-Venom or Spider-Girl. I am super glad Anti-Venom is two per case because even though I still have really mixed feelings about the whole Anti-Venom deal in the comics, it looks like a nice toy. I would have picked up the recent Toxin to have a legends Brock, but I'm not a fan of how the toy was just two shades of plain red.

Great, now if we can only get some new episodes of the show...

And now Spider-Verse (the comic) is almost over and the tie in cartoon hasn't even started? What the hell!?

Aw shame. We were this close to getting proper 3.75 Agent Venom. If only Habro retained Shocker/Carnage/Lizard/etc style and level of articulation for its Spider-Man line for a little longer...

Is this show even still on the air? It feels like it's been forever since a new episode.

last new episode I remember was the Halloween episode guest staring the cast of one of Disney's teeny bopper shows. I was one of the few that were optimistic when Disney bought Marvel, I thought they would provide some major financial backing without compromising the successful fan focus formula... but no they're turning it into a child focused shill. lets just hope that the new Star Wars isn't a five year old focused musical that takes place on planet Diz, where the inhabitants all look like mickey mouse.

I had to watch low-quality versions of the episodes at an anime streaming site. I had no idea that Disney XD hadn't even aired them yet in the US :( .
I never cared for the show prior to those episodes, but because they brilliantly cast Donald Glover as Miles Morales, I had to make an exception and watch those episodes.

In the first few days following Disney's purchase of Marvel, I must have read at least a dozen articles at various comic book sites where various writers basically stated that "Warner Brothers doesn't tell DC what to do, and Disney is even less hands-on than WB, so we have nothing to worry about" .

Yeah, lol, that hasn't been the case. I still laugh when I think of them claiming that Disney isn't "hands-on". Just look at what they did to Pixar so quickly after acquiring them :(

Maybe people forget it because it's totally stupid & illogical & makes absolutely no sense. Saying a child can't handle an articulated figure is basically saying he's a retarded dumbass! There is no connection between age & articulation. If you have a 5 year old that can't handle an articulated action figure like a GI Joe then you have bigger problems than you think.

I played with Star Wars figures in the 70's & I totally hated that their knees couldn't bend & they couldn't sit in the vehicles properly. SPEEDER BIKE anyone? They all looked like shit, were 5POA & didn't look like the character from the movie. But I still played with them because what choice did I have? You can't even imagine how badly I wanted a proper R2-D2 that was movie accurate. The only R2-D2 that looked right was the model kit. I was constantly disappointed with the toys from the 80's. But I had no other options. A kid can be totally disappointed and will still play with it trying to make the best of it.

I don't think anyone is saying that at all.
The issue is that all that articulation has a cost, literally. The average cost for a 3.75" articulated figure is $13, no single figure assortment on that list (bar the collector oriented Legends) is more than $10, and for a larger figure to boot.
With that, most of these articulated figures really can't stand to the kind of punishment kids can and WILL throw at it. Yes, the are made to safety standards, but that doesn't do much for a kid who looses minute accessories or has figure loose body parts so that they don't break.

The old GI Joe figures were able to be articulated because they were relatively easy to repair or cheap enough to easily replace. Action figures to collector standards aren't on both fronts.

That just reinforces the point that kids will make do with what is available.

But what do you think will keep a kid around longer (or keep their parents more apt to buy): a single 6" articulated figure for $20, or TWO with less articulation? And from a business perspective, in an era with shrinking action figure sales, a product like above probably has better margins than a super articulated figure. And more profit means Hasbro has more incentive to keep producing secondary lines that cater to US.
